Chapter 242 Albert's Distraction

In the Valdemar Group conference room, Albert was in a meeting, staring at the report in front of him. He hadn't moved or turned a page in over ten minutes.

Philip Valdemar, Bishop's son, was presenting the proposal. He was a few years younger than Albert but had way more experience at The Valdemar Group.

It was Albert's first high-level meeting, making Philip initially nervous that Albert, as the heir to The Valdemar Group, might scrutinize for faults.

But seeing Albert staring at the same page without any reaction, Philip thought, 'He probably doesn't even get what I'm saying and is just pretending to be calm.'

Philip's serious expression relaxed, and he sped up the presentation, glossing over each report.

Because of Philip's attitude, the other senior executives, who already weren't very convinced by Albert, couldn't hold back anymore. Some even started secretly playing with their phones.

Vincent, observing Albert's distraction, listened more attentively to the proposal and took detailed notes for later reporting.

At the end of the presentation, Philip casually turned off the PPT and said, "That's about it."

Philip was about to return to his seat, but before he could put down the laser pointer, Albert, who had seemed distracted, suddenly lifted his eyes and glanced at him, tapping his fingers lightly on the table.

The small gesture conveyed his dissatisfaction.

Albert looked up and stated calmly, "If your calculation results are like this, the project indeed seems promising. But I suggest you recalculate."

"What's the purpose of recalculating?" Philip remarked with irritation. "We've already calculated these results several times."

Before he could finish, Vincent, who had been taking notes, suddenly spoke up, "Mr. Philip Valdemar, there does seem to be an issue. The two numbers in the substitution are very close. If Mr. Albert Valdemar says there's a problem, it might be a substitution error."

Philip was annoyed as he grumbled, "He didn't even glance at it. What can he see? Albert, I've been at The Valdemar Group for quite some time. My judgment is solid. If you're looking for flaws, maybe you should learn a thing or two first."

Albert slowly put down the report, leaned back slightly, and looked at Philip expressionlessly. He said, "I can refrain from finding faults, but let's be clear: if any issues arise once the project starts, you'll be accountable, and the losses will hit your wallet."

Philip, once confident, was now stunned. He hesitated, nervously pursing his lips, and uttered briefly. "I'll have them recalculate. There shouldn't be any issues."

Philip's assistant, Todd Bailey, awkwardly cleared his throat. "Mr. Philip Valdemar, we can have them recalculate a few more times later. Don't worry; it will be corrected."

Hearing this, Philip glanced at Albert in shock, and the other senior executives exchanged looks.

They had all been in business for years and couldn't spot the data issue at a glance. The atmosphere in the conference room instantly became tense. Philip's face darkened, but he didn't dare say anything more.

"Since it needs recalculating, let's leave it at that for now." Albert glanced around the room and slowly stood up. He gave Philip another look and said, "I hope everyone is meticulous and doesn't waste each other's time."

With that, Albert walked out of the conference room without looking back.

Once Albert and Vincent left, the room buzzed with chatter.

"I thought Mr. Albert Valdemar was clueless, but he spotted the problem right away?"

"Yeah, I thought he was just zoning out."

"How does he nail business stuff when he's a pilot?"

Hearing the praise for Albert, Philip's face darkened. He was fuming but didn't dare to lash out, so he turned to Todd and snapped, "Let's go. You're not as sharp as Albert's assistant."

Following Albert out, Vincent was practically glowing, like he'd just won a big game, always trailing behind Albert.

"Mr. Valdemar, it's impressive that you caught the data issue so quickly," Vincent said. "They'll definitely be more careful around you now."

Vincent finally felt a weight lift off his shoulders. He'd been worried that Albert, after being a pilot for so long, would be lost in the business world, making things tough for him.

But surprisingly, apart from his bad temper, Albert needed little oversight, which was a huge relief for Vincent.

Looking up, he saw that Albert was still expressionless, but his eyes were colder than usual.

"Mr. Valdemar?" Vincent called out cautiously.

Albert paused, his thoughts snapping back, and looked at Vincent. "What is it?"

"Are you on your way back to the office now?" Vincent asked cautiously. "Or are you heading elsewhere?"

Albert looked up and realized he was walking in the opposite direction of the office.

Albert slowly exhaled, but Yvette's image kept lingering in his mind.

Since coming to the Valdemar family, Yvette had become even thinner. The larger the dining room and table, the more delicate and fragile Yvette's figure seemed.

Albert's expression didn't change much, but his deep eyes flickered slightly.

At the elevator, Albert hesitated to press the button, leaving Vincent puzzled by his indecipherable thoughts.

Albert's back was tense, his lips tightly pressed. After a while, he finally turned and walked towards the office.

Albert calmly said, "Didn't my grandma mention feeling some chest tightness recently?"

"Yes." Vincent nodded. "But the family doctor has already checked her, and it's nothing serious."

Albert said, "As pilots, we take chest tightness seriously."

Vincent couldn't grasp Albert's meaning and had to ask, "Do you have any good solutions that the family doctor could try?"

"We regularly go to the medical evaluation center for check-ups. If there's an issue, we consult the doctors there." Albert glanced at his watch and continued, "How about this: call the medical evaluation center at North Airlines and have them come over."

Vincent was stunned and asked, "Wasn't your wife a doctor at the medical evaluation center?"

Albert frowned, his voice deepening with a hint of displeasure, "She can't handle this alone."
