Chapter 300 The Child Looks Like David

Even though Yvette had prepped herself a million times, she still flinched when she locked eyes with Albert's intense stare.

She quickly glanced over Albert's face, acting like she didn't see him, and kept smiling at the two kids in David's arms.

David noticed Yvette's slight tension and whispered, "Jessica, don't be nervous."

Yvette looked down, and the sweet voices of the kids filled her ears.

Lester asked, "Mommy, are you nervous?"

Christina chimed in, "Mommy, don't worry. BoBo, Daddy, and I will protect you!"

David leaned in and whispered, "Remember, you're Jessica."

Yvette took a deep breath, looking at David's strong profile and the kids' gentle eyes.

She dreaded confronting the Valdemar family, yet David's plan made sense. If everyone believed she was David's wife Jessica with their two adorable children, it would make it tougher for Albert to track her down.

By sticking with the kids in Las Vegas, she believed she'd be secure.

Thinking of this, Yvette smiled. "I get it."

All eyes were on their "family of four," leaving the Valdemar family in shock.

People started whispering.

"Why does David's wife look just like Yvette?"

"Isn't Yvette the woman Albert's been searching for the past few years? That kidnapping was a big deal."

"Yeah, Albert went nuts when Yvette disappeared, almost wrecking the Valdemar Group."

"This is too uncanny. Could it be her?"

The murmurs stirred something in Yvette, but she stayed calm. She was determined to leave her past behind and embrace her future.

Holding David's arm, Yvette walked up to James and Lisa, ignoring Albert completely.

David smiled warmly. "Meet my wife Jessica and our little ones, Lester and Christina. We call them BoBo and CiCi."

"Hi, Dad, Aunt Lisa." Yvette gave a slight bow. "I'm Jessica. CiCi, BoBo, say hi to your grandparents."

Lester and Christina waved their little hands. "Hello, Grandpa, Grandma."

James was still in shock at "Jessica's" appearance until the kids' voices snapped him out of it.

Christina, always eager, saw that James looked like David and shouted, "Grandpa, hold me!"

Seeing Christina's eager look and James not responding, Lisa nudged him, "Hold her."

James looked serious but didn't reach out. He glanced at Lester and Christina, deep in thought.

After a moment, James finally said, "These kids look just like David."

James's odd tone made everyone look at Albert.

Albert's face was dark, his eyes red, and he radiated intense hostility.

She had shown up as David's wife and hadn't even glanced at him!

Albert strode over to Yvette, staring her down.

Under his piercing stare, Yvette's scalp prickled. Despite her desire to retaliate against Albert for his actions, her priority was safeguarding her children. She averted her gaze, feigning ignorance of his presence.

The room got super tense and awkward.

Lisa forced a smile and said, "Hey, don't just stand there. Take a seat. We can chat later."

Yvette let out a sigh of relief, like she'd been pardoned. She straightened her collar and said, "I'll be right back, just need to hit the restroom."

She kissed the kids and, under everyone's curious stares, headed towards the restroom.

There were a lot of guests today, and some were heading to the restroom in pairs.

Just as Yvette was about to go in, she overheard some people talking inside.

"David's wife looks exactly like Yvette. That's not a coincidence."

"Do you really think it's someone else? They're not twins; how could they look exactly alike? I think she's just shameless, ditching Albert and hooking up with David! Changing her name, thinking we're all idiots."

"Yeah, so whose kids are they?"

"Does it matter? David and Albert are real twins; they probably don't care."

The laughter was harsh to Yvette's ears. But now wasn't the time to argue.

Yvette decided not to go in and turned to leave.

She exited from the back of the banquet hall and went to the restroom in the nearby residential building for some peace and quiet, away from the hurtful remarks.

Splashing cold water on her face, Yvette finally felt some relief from her frayed nerves and flushed cheeks.

Looking at her panicked reflection in the mirror, Yvette took a deep breath.

She really wasn't cut out for the Valdemar family's high society, where everyone had hidden agendas and was tough to deal with.

Albert was a huge threat, too dangerous. She wasn't good at lying, and there was always a risk of being exposed, with unimaginable consequences.

Yvette bit her lower lip, trying to calm herself down. After this family banquet, she had to get back to Stellaria as quickly as possible, far away from Luken and the Valdemar family, to be safe.

Yvette composed herself, tidied up in the mirror, and left the restroom. As she stepped out, Albert suddenly blocked her path. Startled, she looked up and met his intense eyes.

She instinctively clenched her fists, pretended to be calm, and adjusted her hair, ignoring Albert as she tried to walk past him.

"Jessica," Albert said mockingly. "You've never been to the Valdemar family's villa, yet you seem quite familiar with it. This isn't the guest restroom."

Yvette's face showed a hint of panic. She frowned and forced herself to speak, "Is that so? I must have taken a wrong turn. Even if it's not the guest restroom, guests can still use it, right?"

Albert gave her a meaningful look.

"Of course."

Seeing that he didn't continue to mock her, Yvette didn't want to stay any longer. She didn't want to give him any leverage.

"Please move," she said casually, though her voice trembled slightly. She stepped to the left, instinctively avoiding Albert.

Before she could take another step, she heard a barely audible chuckle behind her.

The next second, Yvette's world spun, and she found herself being carried horizontally by Albert.
