Chapter 430 David is Back

The mall was packed, people bustling around, weaving through the crowd.

Sylvia looked calm, but her eyes were distant. She clutched her shopping bag so tightly her knuckles turned white.

She intentionally stayed close to a woman, using reflective surfaces to keep an eye on the bodyguards trailing her. Thankfully, everything seemed normal.

Then, one of the bodyguards seemed to notice something, staring intently at Sylvia and the woman beside her.

Feeling a chill from his gaze, Sylvia quickly put her arm around the woman next to her. The intense stares eased a bit. Glancing at her watch, she felt slightly reassured.

At that moment, the woman beside her abruptly shook off Sylvia's hand.

The woman looked at her with exasperation. "Hey, lady, you've been following me for a while. What do you want?"

Sylvia gave an awkward smile. "Sorry! I thought you were someone else. You really look like my friend. I'm really sorry!"

With that, Sylvia turned and entered a store, slipping into a fitting room.

Sylvia looked at her reflection, her eyes glistening with tension, and finally let out a long sigh. She had created the illusion of still shopping with Yvette, allowing her to slip away. Yvette had been gone for over ten minutes now; she should be safe. Hopefully, everything would go as planned.

Sunlight streamed through the window, reflecting off the glass and creating dazzling halos.

Yvette carefully unlocked the villa's gate with her fingerprint and walked in, her eyes filled with tension and urgency.

She peered through the window into the villa, and after confirming the butler had indeed left, she dared to open the door and enter.

Yvette looked around, her palms sweating with anxiety.

She hadn't expected things to go this smoothly.

After diverting the bodyguards, Sylvia rushed back to the villa. With no one around, it was the perfect chance to find the evidence. Yvette meticulously searched each important room in the vast villa.

Her hands trembled, and every item she touched made her heart race.

But after searching four or five rooms, she found nothing.

Yvette felt a pang of disappointment, but thinking of BoBo, CiCi, and Albert, her resolve strengthened.

Yvette finally focused on the master bedroom. She doubted David would hide something important in a place she frequented, yet she felt inexplicably drawn to it. Pushing open the door, the familiar room made her heart pound.

Suddenly, she heard faint footsteps downstairs, and her heart tightened.

Her heartbeat quickened with each approaching step. After a moment's hesitation, Yvette made a swift decision.

She slipped into the master bedroom's closet, carefully closing the door, leaving only a tiny crack.

Breathing rapidly and shallowly, Yvette's heartbeat pounded in sync with the footsteps. Each step seemed to squeeze her heart, making it beat even harder. Hiding in the closet, she closed her eyes tightly, trying to control her breath. She couldn't be discovered—she just couldn't!

Suddenly, the master bedroom door opened.

At that moment, Yvette's breath seemed to stop, and time itself seemed to freeze.

David pushed open the door, scanning the empty villa, his face darkening further.

His eyes no longer held their usual warmth and kindness, only coldness and anger.

The once peaceful and cozy "home" now seemed filled with endless sorrow and rage in his eyes.

The happy life he and Yvette had in Eldoria had been so short-lived, disappearing in an instant, slipping through his fingers.

David walked towards the stairs, his footsteps like hammers striking the once peaceful home, each imprint a mark of his anger.

Thinking of Yvette's obstetrician's terrified and regretful look, David clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white from the force.

Everything had been going according to his plan until that doctor spoke to Sylvia.

He had been too lenient, allowing someone with such a big secret to walk freely in Eldoria.

If he had dealt with that troublesome person earlier, things might not have gone awry.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.

Albert's disdainful expression flashed before his eyes, making David's gaze firm and cold, his chest filled with anger and hatred.

He would never let BoBo and CiCi return to Albert, never!

He wanted Albert to live in doubt and jealousy forever, Yvette to never clear her name, and for them to always live in his shadow.

Just as he had for so many years.

David slowly climbed the stairs, entering the master bedroom's storage room, where countless secrets were hidden.

It was a place so close, yet Yvette never ventured in. He didn't even need to lock it because Yvette had no interest in his secrets.

Most important were the birth records of the two children. From the real ones to the altered ones, they were all there. That's what he had come back to destroy!

He knew he had to hide these secrets forever to ensure BoBo and CiCi would always be his children, his and Yvette's legitimate offspring, giving him absolute custody.

His relationship with the children was his greatest leverage, his only, unbeatable leverage.

David smirked, a contemptuous smile flashing in his eyes.

The room was windowless and dark. David turned on the light and reached for the safe.

Just as David was about to enter the password, a noise came from outside the room.

David paused, his eyes cold and devoid of warmth.

He turned his head, looking towards the outside of the storage room, and slowly turned back...
