Chapter 260 The Divorce Gift

Albert didn't pay any attention to the servants' gossip as he lugged his bag upstairs.

Yvette was nowhere to be seen, not at home. Albert glanced around the room and plopped the bag on the most obvious table.

This way, Yvette would spot it right away.

Vincent's nagging message buzzed again. Albert sighed and headed to the study.

Yvette came back from the hospital, clutching her bag tightly, acting like nothing happened, and made her way through the servants to her room upstairs.

Last night, Albert's reaction had freaked her out a bit. She thought he'd be all over her, but he just left the room without doing anything.

Was it because he saw her crying?

Could he actually be moved by her tears?

As Yvette calmed down, these hopeful thoughts popped up, but she quickly shut them down.

No way!

He was going to divorce her and marry Violet. How could he possibly soften towards her?

Thinking about this, Yvette hurried back to her room and hid the medical report.

He wouldn't soften towards her, let alone the child. She had to protect the child.

After locking the drawer, Yvette turned around and saw an unopened package on the table.

She was immediately surprised and hesitated several times to open it but didn't dare.

What if it wasn't for her?

But then she thought, 'If Albert had placed a gift for Violet in my room, it would be too outrageous.'

'At least, in front of Cheryl, he wouldn't do such a thing, right?'

With this in mind, Yvette carefully opened it, and fortunately, the card read: Ms. Orlando.

Only then did Yvette feel relieved to look at the bag, a classic model from a luxury brand that had once sold for a high price online. Even Yvette, who wasn't very familiar with these things, had heard of it.

Touching the bag's high-quality leather, Yvette finally felt a sense of reality.

Was this a gift from Albert?

Yvette suddenly understood Cheryl's words; he was stubborn.

Maybe he misunderstood and hurt her, but he didn't seem as cold as he appeared. Perhaps they could talk and clear the air?

Yvette's emotions were like a roller coaster. She was happy but also doubtful.

The Valdemar family had many parties; what if he just bought it to show off?

Yvette bit her lip and finally decided to ask Albert.

She still wanted to know his intentions.

Even if there was only a slight possibility, she wanted to know if she had a place in his heart.

Yvette waited in the room, but Albert was nowhere to be found.

Despite being mentally prepared, Yvette felt a twinge of nervousness as she pushed the door open to an empty room.

Unperturbed, Yvette assumed Albert was preoccupied with urgent matters. As she prepared to depart, she glimpsed documents on his desk in her peripheral vision.

Yvette's smile froze, and the title on the document stung her eyes: Divorce Agreement.

Next to the document was a plane ticket.

Yvette picked it up and saw her name on it.

Her hand loosened, and the ticket slowly fell back onto the desk.

So the bag wasn't an apology gift; it was a divorce gift. He wanted to divorce quickly and marry Violet.

Feeling her fingers tingle, Yvette snapped back to reality.

She bitterly chuckled at her hopeful delusions, grateful he wasn't around to save herself from the embarrassment of asking. She had always wanted a divorce, and now that the crisis was over, it was time to move on.

No point letting the undeserved pain eat away at her emotions.

Yvette clenched her fist and headed back to her room to pack her suitcase.

She usually kept her clothes organized, but today she was moving at a snail's pace.

The door behind her creaked open, and Yvette's movements paused, her body tensing up for a moment before she forced herself to act normal.

She closed the suitcase, stood up, and faced Albert.

Albert's expression was indifferent, his demeanor as cold as ever.

Seeing Yvette packing her suitcase, Albert was puzzled and asked, "Where are you going? On a trip?"

Yvette shook her head. "No."

Albert asked again, "Is Grandma taking you to church?"

Yvette pressed her lips together and stayed silent.

Albert frowned, his tone slightly annoyed. "Why aren't you answering?"

"Albert." Yvette blinked, feeling a slight curve on her lips. "Let's get a divorce."

A flash of disbelief crossed Albert's face as he confirmed in shock. "What did you say?"

Yvette spoke with certainty, "Let's get a divorce."

Albert's eyes darkened, his expression returning to calm, but his deep eyes hid turbulent emotions.

"Are you sure?" Albert asked.

"Since I can't get anything, staying is pointless." Yvette calmly looked at Albert. "Instead of tormenting each other, let's give each other a way out."

Albert's calm voice wavered slightly. "Are you..."

"No," Yvette almost knew what he was going to say and immediately cut him off. "Don't worry, after the divorce, I'll cut all ties with the Valdemar family. You don't have to worry about anything else."

Aware of Albert's misconception that she sought a divorce for David, Yvette simply aimed to take their child and escape.

Albert's thin lips tightened as he stared at her, the dark waves in his eyes growing heavier, but his expression remained calm.

A few seconds later, Albert frowned slightly, then nodded as usual. "Okay."

She had said what he wanted to do, so he was naturally happy to accept it. The earlier doubts and dissatisfaction were probably just because she had taken the initiative, and he was reacting out of courtesy.

Yvette's lips curved, but there was a hint of bitterness. Her eyes stung slightly, and Yvette lowered her gaze to hide her emotions.

The two fell into an awkward silence. Just as Yvette was thinking of how to break it, Albert spoke, "What compensation do you want? You can tell me."

Yvette didn't know if it was her imagination, but she felt Albert's voice was slightly dry and strained.

She thought, 'Maybe I was too understanding in giving him the opportunity to marry Violet, making Albert feel a bit guilty?'

Yvette looked up, her eyes cold but resolute. "I have only one request."

"What's that?"

"Let's never see each other again."
