Chapter 104 Albert is Jealous

Yvette hated saying hurtful things, but she couldn't hold back this time.

Maybe she still had a small glimmer of hope for Albert, hoping he was still a good guy.

"Is my question too harsh?" she asked, seeing him speechless. Her eyes dimmed, and she gave a bitter, self-deprecating smile. "I'm just curious."

She stared at Albert's face, and for a moment, it overlapped with the one in her memory that had once made her heart race.

That handsome face was always full of carefree smiles, though those smiles were never meant for Yvette.

She remembered back in high school, one day she went to the school store to buy snacks and a male classmate handed her a bottle of orange juice.

Yvette looked at the juice, puzzled, and asked, "Is this for me?"

"Yeah, it's Violet's birthday today, and this is her favorite juice. Just say 'Happy Birthday' to her."

What she thought was a stroke of luck turned out to be a surprise Albert had planned for his girlfriend.

Even though Yvette had accepted that the boy who promised to come back for her was now with Violet, she still felt a bit down hearing about their romance from classmates.

"Then wish her a happy birthday," Yvette said softly.

The classmate pointed nearby and said with a smile, "Not to me, Violet's over there."

Yvette turned to see Albert and Violet standing there, sharing Violet's birthday joy with all the classmates who came to the store.

The white-painted walls and cement-colored floor made the people in the scene stand out even more.

Albert and Violet stood face to face, chatting about something. Sunlight poured through the railings, segmenting like piano keys, black and white, making the scene even more beautiful.

Though they stood apart with no physical contact, surrounded by classmates and people handing out juice, there was an undeniable chemistry burning between them that no one could approach or break.

Yvette looked away, her eyes aching from staring at the light too long.

Albert had emptied the shelves of orange juice to celebrate Violet's birthday. He was still so showy, expressing his likes and dislikes with extreme passion.

Just like that summer.

Because Yvette liked fireflies, he had tracked them down all over the hills for her.

For several evenings to nights, he was nowhere to be seen.

He finally found the firefly habitat at the foot of a distant hill.

It was said he wore out his shoes looking for those fireflies.

At that time, he genuinely wanted to make her happy, and she could feel it. Later, he genuinely wanted to make Violet happy, and Yvette could feel that too.

His sincerity was real, and so was the fleeting time.

As the memories faded, Yvette's vision became clear again. Looking at him now, she only felt a strong sense of repulsion.

She said, "At least be sincere with Violet."

Albert's lips thinned into a line, and after a while, he frowned, "What do you mean?"

"A necklace can't decide who you love. Whether it belongs to Violet or someone else, I hope your feelings are genuine. If the necklace were mine, would you pursue me? Do you love me or the necklace? Don't give me excuses about mistaken identity, regret, or guilt. What about the years with Violet?"

Albert cut in, "Just answer me, is it you?"

"Sorry to disappoint you, it's really not me," Yvette said. "Albert, everything you've done makes me think you're disgusting."

Albert's usually calm face twisted at the word "disgusted," and his whole demeanor darkened.

His eyes grew colder and more menacing, and his once relaxed hands gradually clenched, veins bulging and knuckles whitening with barely contained anger.

"Yvette, you think I'm disgusting?"

Yvette met his gaze, feeling his oppressive and chilling aura. But she still looked at him, her lips moving slightly as she coldly said, "I'm just reminding you, don't do things that make me feel disgusted."

Albert's face tightened, his expression dark and brooding, his broad chest heaving noticeably. He laughed angrily, his voice hoarse, "Yvette, you better remember what you said today!"

Among the kind faces, one stern face stood out.

Throughout the meeting, the people around Albert didn't even dare to chat.

When the meeting ended, the conference room door opened, and a group of uniformed pilots walked out. Leading them, Albert had a terrible expression, coldly adjusting his collar with impatience.

Victor followed behind him, looking incredulously, "Albert, what's going on? You didn't submit such an important report and got called out in the meeting. This is the first time in all your years of work, right?"

During the meeting, the leader had sternly called out Albert for not submitting his report, shocking everyone.

No one could believe that someone as meticulous as Albert had failed to complete such an important task and got called out by the leader in the meeting.

Albert didn't answer, but his pace quickened, his strides growing larger as if trying to shake off Victor.

Victor continued to follow him, self-reproachful, "Did I trouble you with what I said? I was standing far away and wasn't sure. Don't let my nonsense..."

Before Victor could finish, Albert stopped and impatiently glared at him, "Stop talking."

Albert's voice was slightly raised, and their fellow captains looked over. Victor's face turned a bit awkward, and he scratched his head in frustration, "I don't even want to talk."

With that, Victor began walking away from Albert.

Albert pursed his lips and called out to him, "Wait, let's go for a drink."

Victor waved his hand, "I'm not going, I have to practice dancing."

Albert frowned, "What? Why?"

"The ballroom dance competition, the company only sent two teams." Victor slapped his forehead. "I forgot to mention, your wife is also participating."

"Yvette?"

"You didn't know?" Victor looked at Albert with great interest, a hint of glee in his tone, "Looks like her dance partner isn't you."

Upon hearing this, a flash of anger crossed Albert's face, "She's pregnant and still wants to dance!"

Seeing Albert's displeasure, Victor's eyes sharpened, full of understanding and certainty, "You're just jealous, aren't you?"
