Chapter 170 Yvette Fell into the Water

Yvette was hustling to keep up with Loren, but out of nowhere, a crowd swarmed the poolside, blocking her view.

Suddenly, someone came charging at her, and Yvette instinctively sidestepped to avoid a collision. But even though she dodged, that person kept coming at her.

Before she could even process what was happening, she felt a sharp shove on her lower back. The force was so strong it threw her off balance, and she fell sideways.

Right next to her was the deep end of the pool, over six feet deep. With a loud splash, Yvette hit the water hard.

Surrounded by people in swimsuits, no one noticed something went wrong when Yvette suddenly fell into the water, thinking it was just someone making a big splash.

Yvette, suddenly pushed into the water, choked and struggled, unable to find her footing or float up, feeling the discomfort of being choked by water.

David, having just finished a conversation, turned around to look for Yvette and saw her being pushed into the water.

David's heart tightened. He didn't know if Yvette could swim, but her flailing fall was alarming.

The poolside was crowded, and without thinking, David jumped into the pool, swimming with all his might towards Yvette.

It wasn't until David reached Yvette and lifted her above the water that people realized she hadn't jumped in to swim and rushed to help.

Yvette, having choked on water, clung tightly to David, her arms wrapped around his neck.

With water blurring her vision, Yvette vaguely saw a familiar face. Without a second thought, she buried her face in his neck, as if seeking refuge in his embrace.

Leaning against his neck, Yvette murmured, "Albert."

David's body stiffened, his Adam's apple bobbing. Ignoring everything else, he, along with others, carried Yvette back to the poolside.

Yvette clung tightly to him, coughing and trembling, unable to calm down for a long time. David, recalling the earlier "Albert," exhaled slowly. His hand hovered in the air before he finally decided to break the moment.

David gently patted Yvette's back. "Yvette, are you feeling better?"

Yvette froze, realizing from the gentle voice that the one she was holding wasn't Albert. She quickly came to her senses and released David.

Softly, Yvette said, "Thank you, David."

David smiled wryly. Looking down at Yvette, he noticed her light pink evening dress had become semi-transparent from the water, clinging to her skin and revealing her curves.

He frowned, took off his jacket, and wrapped Yvette in it, using his body and the jacket to cover her.

Realizing that, Yvette quickly pulled David's jacket tighter, her face flushing.

At that moment, a cold male voice came from not far away. "Yvette, what are you doing?"

When the servant came in, Albert didn't think much of it. The Valdemars were a big, boisterous bunch, always up to something, so trouble was never far behind.

Hayden frowned. "What happened now? Weren't you supposed to keep an eye on things?"

The servant said, "Ms. Orlando accidentally fell into the pool."

Both Hayden and Albert's faces darkened instantly.

Seeing their reactions, the servant quickly added, "Mr. David Valdemar has already rescued Ms. Orlando. I come to report to you as soon as we found out."

Even though Albert and Yvette were getting divorced, Yvette was still Hayden's granddaughter-in-law. An incident at their hotel naturally caused concern among the staff.

Hearing that Yvette had been rescued, Hayden sighed in relief. "Good, as long as she's safe. It's lucky David was nearby..."

Before Hayden could finish, Albert stood up abruptly and said, "I'll come see you later."

With that, Albert left Hayden's room without looking back.

Hayden looked in the direction Albert had left, puzzled. "The servant said David rescued her, so why is he in such a hurry?"

Albert hurried down, knowing Yvette was safe, but the thought of David being the one to save her made him uneasy.

Arriving at the poolside, Albert saw David wrapping Yvette in his jacket and holding her close.

At the same time, Yvette instinctively leaned into David's embrace.

The moonlight shone on the two of them, both drenched, with water all around. Yvette in David's arms, the scene was so glaring that it stung Albert's eyes.

Albert coldly interrupted, "Yvette, what are you doing?"

Striding over, Albert ignored David's protest and took Yvette from his arms.

Yvette looked up, puzzled. "What do you mean?"

Albert's jaw tightened, his voice cold. "You mistook me for David, didn't you?"

"No, I didn't." Yvette stared at Albert, feeling utterly disappointed.

She had fallen into the water and been saved by David, yet Albert only showed dissatisfaction, not concern for her safety.

Yvette gave a bitter smile. "I can tell you and David apart very clearly."

Raising her hand to push Albert away, Yvette felt a sharp pain in her wrist. Looking down, she saw a cut from when she fell into the pool, slowly oozing blood.

Seeing the blood, Albert was momentarily stunned. Suppressing his anger, he took the first aid kit handed by a servant. "Yvette, don't provoke me on purpose."

With one arm around Yvette, Albert opened the first aid kit with the other.

"I'm not." The pain in her wrist subsiding, Yvette felt that staying with Albert for even a second longer was unbearable. She raised her hand to push Albert. "Please let me go."

Albert paused, feeling her regaining strength and starting to struggle. He frowned. "Your wrist is injured."

"I know." Yvette's eyes were resolute. "I can handle it myself, I don't need your help."

Albert's expression darkened. "Don't need my help? Yvette, if you don't want anything to do with me, then you should cut ties with the entire Valdemars."
