Chapter 596 Albert Brings Her to the Hospital

After David left, the room fell into a deafening silence that seemed to pierce Violet's heart. Her face was livid, eyes burning with rage.

In a sudden burst of fury, Violet leapt to her feet and strode to the bedside lamp.

With one violent swing, she smashed her fist into the exquisite glass fixture. The lampshade shattered instantly, fragments scattering across the room with a crystalline crash that seemed to make the very walls tremble.

The once peaceful room now resonated with a bone-chilling emptiness. Shards of glass glittered faintly on the carpet like tiny stars bearing witness to her unspoken anguish.

Violet stood frozen, her hand still clenched in the striking position, knuckles white from the force. Her face had emptied of all expression, leaving only profound exhaustion and boundless anger. The atmosphere had grown suffocating, as if all the air had solidified around her.

The Valdemar Family had caused her too much pain and anger. Her body shook violently as she clenched her fists, making a silent vow to herself. She would make every last member of the Valdemar Family pay—including Yvette.

The dinner table was laden with an array of delicious dishes, their aromas wafting through the air.

Violet sat with a dark expression, absently pushing food around her plate.

A heavy silence hung over the meal.

Elowen occasionally stole glances at her daughter's face, while Thaddeus ate quietly, periodically casting deep, searching looks in Violet's direction.

Finally, Elowen broke the silence. "Violet, how are things progressing with David?" she asked, concern evident in her voice.

Violet set down her fork with deliberate slowness and fixed her mother with a displeased stare. "What exactly are you trying to ask?"

Thaddeus sighed. "Violet, try to understand your mother's concerns. She's simply wondering if David will actually follow through with the marriage. Given your... situation, it's reasonable to worry he might back out."

Violet's lips curled into a faint smile that didn't reach her eyes. Inside, she laughed bitterly.

All her life, she'd believed herself to be fortune's darling—wealthy family, loving parents, the freedom to do whatever she pleased.

But ever since the Swift Family's bankruptcy, when they began using her as currency to secure the family's future, she was no longer the Swift Family princess.

Now she was merely a tool for Thaddeus and Elowen to exchange for advantage. She finally understood that she had never truly been loved.

How pathetic.

"What's there to worry about?" Violet prodded at her food. "Everything's under control."

Thaddeus frowned at her response. "We're only concerned about your happiness! You're entering a second marriage and you can't have children."

"Exactly!" Elowen sighed. "In your condition, you can't even secure David by having his child. Even after marriage, there's no guarantee."

They continued back and forth, casually discussing her infertility as if they were gossiping about someone else's daughter rather than their own. They knew perfectly well that her inability to become a mother was her deepest wound.

Violet continued eating, her expression impassive, as if she existed in a separate reality where only she and her food mattered.

The calmer Violet appeared, the more agitated Thaddeus and Elowen became.

"Violet, you need to act quickly," Elowen urged, her tone earnest. "You must have something to hold over him, or Albert will surely cast you aside when the time comes."

Violet raised her head and regarded her parents coolly. "Mom, Dad, you don't need to remind me. I know exactly what I'm doing."

Her voice was soft but resolute.

"You've always been so stubborn," Thaddeus began. "But don't you realize that David—"

"That's enough," Violet interrupted calmly. "I don't need your reminders. I'll handle this myself. I'll find my own way forward."

With that, she returned her attention to her meal, as if everything around her had ceased to exist.

There were no secrets in this world that stay hidden forever.

News of Albert returning early and facing criticism from the entire Valdemar Group had spread everywhere—and predictably, it reached Yvette's ears.

When she heard, Yvette's heart sank. Her hands clasped together tightly, knuckles turning white from the pressure. The smile that usually graced her face vanished, replaced by profound worry and disquiet.

She paced her room, her mind in turmoil. She had always been acutely aware of her sensitive position and had tried her best not to cause Albert any trouble. Yet despite her intentions, things never worked out as planned. She felt like a perpetual disruptor, a source of discontent for everyone around her.

Her thoughts swirled like a tempest with no end in sight.

Yvette took a deep breath, attempting to calm herself. Suddenly, her phone rang—it was Albert.

Before he could speak, Yvette jumped in. "They're giving you trouble because of me, aren't they?"

After a brief silence, Albert replied firmly, "This has nothing to do with you. It was my choice."

"But—" Yvette began, only to be cut off.

"I've sent a driver to pick you up. We're going to meet someone," Albert said.

Puzzled, Yvette asked, "Meet someone? Who?"

Albert paused. "Since you're worried about me, this person might be able to help us."

"Do you need me there for business matters?"

"Of course," Albert replied. "I need you with me."

Yvette was momentarily stunned, then let out a soft laugh. "Alright."

Sitting in the car, Yvette watched the scenery flow past like a living canvas. Sunlight streamed through the window, bathing her delicate features in a warm glow.

Thinking about Albert's current standing at the Valdemar Group, worry gnawed at her.

Was her selfish desire to stay putting him in an impossible position?

Yet when she recalled his recent tenderness toward her, she couldn't bring herself to dwell on such thoughts. Her time was limited; she needed to treasure every moment, selfishly remaining by his side.

Yvette bit her lower lip gently, the faintest hint of tears glistening in the corners of her eyes.

After what seemed like an eternity, the car slowed. Ahead loomed the entrance to a hospital.

Yvette turned to look out the window, surprise washing over her. Albert had instructed the driver to bring her to a hospital.
