Chapter 487 Surveillance Content

In the spacious living room of the Hayes Mansion, Albert stood with his arms crossed, watching Gabrielle intently.

The air was thick with tension, their eyes locked in a silent battle, each trying to gauge the other's intentions.

Gabrielle had thought she had managed to evade Albert, but here he was, just a day later, standing in their home.

Unable to meet Albert's gaze, Gabrielle nervously clasped her hands together and nodded, "Mr. Valdemar, I'm sorry I didn't welcome you properly."

Albert frowned, raising a hand to cut her off, his patience clearly wearing thin.

His eyes bore into Gabrielle, his tone unyielding, "I found out your family bought the surveillance footage. I need you to explain this."

Gabrielle's face paled, her voice trembling as she hurriedly replied, "Mr. Valdemar, I really don't know anything about the surveillance. My husband handles all our affairs, and any information would be with him. If it concerns Clifford, he wouldn't keep it from me. So, Mr. Valdemar, we really don't know anything about the surveillance!"

Gabrielle felt overwhelmed. She had been a minor actress in her youth until she met Felix, who was then an up-and-coming entrepreneur. They married, and she had devoted herself to their family, raising their son and daughter, always under Felix's protection.

Facing Albert alone, a man so forceful, Gabrielle was at a loss.

Albert noted her distress, sensing there was more to the story.

He let out a cold laugh, his gaze icy, "I came to you because I have evidence. Otherwise, with your and Felix's acting skills, how could I have tricked you?"

"Impossible!" Gabrielle's voice shook, sweat beading on her forehead, "Felix and I would never do such a thing..."

Albert's eyes were steely, his voice carrying an undeniable authority, "I'll say it one more time, Mrs. Hayes, hand over the surveillance footage. If I have to find it myself, it won't be this civil."

His tone was a final warning, making Gabrielle tremble, nearly breaking under his pressure.

Gabrielle was terrified.

She knew Albert was not someone to be trifled with. If this wasn't resolved properly, the Hayes family could be in serious trouble.

She feared that if Albert found the footage, it could destroy everything Felix and their family had worked so hard to build.

Her mind raced as she stood before Albert, hands tightly clasped, trying to hide her emotions.

Her eyes darted nervously, betraying her unease.

Just as her defenses were about to crumble, Felix finally returned.

"Mr. Valdemar." His deep, familiar voice broke the tension.

Gabrielle turned, catching sight of Felix striding towards them from the doorway.

She exhaled a sigh of relief, feeling as if her savior had arrived.

Felix approached Albert, sensing the charged atmosphere.

He glanced at Gabrielle, noting her distress.

Felix's expression was grave as he stood beside Albert, holding a laptop with a paused street view on the screen.

Albert's eyes narrowed at the screen, recognizing the factory's surveillance footage. The Hayes family had indeed bought the footage!

Albert's face darkened, anger flashing in his eyes.

Realizing Albert was furious, Felix grew tense, his Adam's apple bobbing nervously.

Despite his years of experience in the business world, facing Albert now sent a chill down his spine.

Albert's expression was as cold as winter frost, "Felix, you insisted yesterday there was no footage. Now you suddenly produce it. How do you explain this?"

"Mr. Valdemar, you must understand a parent's heart." Felix took a deep breath, trying to stay calm, "I've had this footage for a while, but it was damaged."

Albert frowned, displeased, "Don't tell me it can't be restored?"

"I know you suspect I tampered with it, but I just had it repaired," Felix said earnestly, "When you came to me yesterday, I didn't dare tell you because I hadn't seen the original footage. I couldn't figure out your true intentions. If you were an enemy, handing over the footage would have been too risky. It would have lowered our chances of finding our son, wouldn't it?"

"And now, why are you willing to give it to me?" Albert asked, his voice low.

"Because after restoring the footage and watching it, I'm certain you're not the perpetrator. Like us, you just want to find your family."

Albert's heart stirred slightly, "Show me."

"Alright." Felix operated the laptop, explaining, "After restoration, only these time points show any activity—cars and people passing by."

Albert scrutinized the screen, analyzing every frame as if to memorize it all.

But after watching the footage, there were only scattered workers and an unmarked car coming and going—no useful clues.

Albert clenched his fists, suspecting Felix had shown him edited footage.

Sensing Albert's thoughts, Felix said, "You think I fabricated this?"

Felix handed Albert a black hard drive, "I copied the original footage. I was going to deliver it to the Valdemar Group, but since you're here, I'll give it to you directly."

Albert's breathing grew heavy with anger, "So where are Yvette and Clifford?"

"Mr. Valdemar, I'm sorry, but we're still searching too." Felix's eyes showed deep sorrow.

Hearing Felix, Gabrielle began to sob quietly again.

Watching the couple, Albert gripped the hard drive tightly, saying nothing.

He no longer believed their words, having seen their acting skills firsthand.

Their only, beloved son's fate was unknown, yet they remained so composed?

Gabrielle's tears, no matter how sorrowful, didn't match a mother's reaction to losing her son.

Albert looked at them without a trace of sympathy.

He stood up and turned to leave, "I'll have the footage reviewed and come back."

"Alright, Mr. Valdemar, take care."

Albert strode out, a cold smile on his face, determined not to trust them easily again.

But why were they hiding Yvette?
