Chapter 315 The Drug Wasn't Planted by David
Yvette was pretty puzzled. She just wanted to come back and ask David why he drugged her, but she didn't expect him to have everything already figured out.
Jessica, as an identity, was married to David in Las Vegas. If she went back to Stellaria, she'd have to deal with this relationship.
She didn't think it would happen so fast.
David smirked. "I'll have my assistant Virgil come over and help me pack in a bit."
Thinking about how good David had been to her over the years, Yvette bit her lip. "I should be the one to leave."
"You stay. In the Valdemar Family, the kids will have someone to look after them, and you'll be taken care of." David rubbed his forehead, and when he lowered his hand, his eyes were calm. "I wish you happiness, Yvette."
No matter how angry and confused Yvette was, she couldn't let it out.
David grabbed his phone and called Virgil.
"Virgil, come up and take my luggage."
He hung up, opened the wardrobe, and started packing while talking to Yvette. "BoBo and CiCi are out with their grandmother and the servants. They'll be back soon. If you need me to explain things to them later, just let me know. They're still young and might not get it, but they'll come around. Don't worry too much."
Despite everything, David still cared about her and the kids, leaving Yvette too overwhelmed to ask her questions.
There was a knock at the door, and Virgil walked in.
Virgil had been with David since Luken. Whether in Las Vegas or back in Luken, Virgil was always there.
He walked in, shot Yvette an unfriendly look, and approached David. "Mr. Valdemar."
"Let's get started, hurry up and pack."
Virgil nodded. "Okay."
"Yvette," David said softly. "If you don't want to go back, I'll handle everything in Las Vegas for you and send your stuff back. If you still have things to do there, I'm here to help."
"David." Yvette took a deep breath. "I trusted you so much, why did you do this to me? I always saw you as a brother."
Virgil, who was packing, suddenly stood up. "Last night's incident wasn't Mr. Valdemar's doing. It was me. I couldn't take it anymore and asked the Valdemar Family's servants to help me drug you."
Yvette was stunned, staring at Virgil in shock. "What?"
"Shut up." David's face changed, stepping forward to stop Virgil. "If you don't want to pack, then leave."
Virgil, who always obeyed David, ignored him.
Virgil's eyes were sharp, glaring at Yvette. "I couldn't take it anymore. I've been with Mr. Valdemar for years, and everyone can see how much he's done for you. But you, you enjoy his kindness and never appreciate it!"
"In Las Vegas, you lost your memory. He had so many chances but never forced you, never deceived you. And you think he drugged you?" Virgil said angrily. "I wanted to tell him that waiting for you was pointless!""Virgil!" David's jaw clenched, his eyes locked on him. "I've put up with you for years. I don't want to get physical. Stop now and get out of my room."
"Mr. Valdemar! What are you still hoping for? That this heartless woman, Yvette, will remember your kindness?" Virgil's eyes were red. "Even I can't stand it anymore, and you can still endure it?"
David's anger was palpable, and he shouted, "Shut up."
"You've done so much for her, saved her and the kids, treated them like your own, always giving them the best life. Has she ever been grateful? Has she ever thought of repaying you? She's just a leech, endlessly sucking your blood, relying on your love for her, constantly taking..."
Before Virgil could finish, David's fist connected with his face with a chilling thud.
Virgil hit the ground hard, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth. "You can hit me, but I have to say it. I conspired with the Valdemar Family's servants to drug her so she could stay by your side peacefully, instead of always being ready to leave you and go back to Albert!"
"I told you to shut up." David grabbed Virgil by the collar and yanked him up from the ground.
David dragged Virgil to the door and shoved him out.
The door slammed shut with a resounding thud, and the room finally returned to silence.
David's heavy breathing was particularly jarring in the quiet room.
Yvette stood still, guilt filling her heart.
Even outsiders could see how much David had suffered because of her, but she always ignored his efforts and emotions.
He was also a man who needed love. His strength and gentleness were not reasons for her to ignore his feelings.
Yvette's eyes reddened, and her nose tingled.
In love, the one who loved more was always the humble one.
Yvette looked at the apology and helplessness on David's face, as if seeing herself.
The pain of unacknowledged efforts was something she should understand the most, right?
Yvette lowered her eyes, and when she spoke again, her voice was already hoarse, "Since it was him, why did you take the blame yourself?"
David tugged at the corner of his mouth. "What's the point of explaining so much? He's my man; it's no different from me doing it. Since I'm letting you go, there's no need to explain further."
"Of course, it matters!" Yvette's eyes flickered. "I thought it was you, the only person I could trust, who hurt me. I'm sorry, I misunderstood you."
David shook his head with a bitter smile. "Yvette, no need to apologize. Please, if you've decided to go back to Albert, don't give me any more hope."
"I'm not!" Yvette took half a step forward. "I won't go back to Albert. I remember everything he did to me. Every time I see him, I think of how he wanted me to have an abortion, how he wanted to divorce me, how he refused to save me. I can't, I can't go back to him. I just want to protect my two kids now."
David's eyes were a bit confused. "Yvette, what do you mean by this?"
"David." Yvette looked into David's eyes seriously. "I want to leave here. I want to take the two kids back to Las Vegas."
