Chapter 371 Thank You for Still Being Alive
"Yes," the doctor replied.
Yvette stumbled out of the doctor's office and returned to the VIP ward, where she sat beside Albert, gazing at his pale face. Though unconscious, his brows were slightly furrowed, and his thin lips tightly pressed together, maintaining the same expression even in a coma.
She reached out and gently stroked his brow, hoping he could relax a bit.
Vincent came over with the two children. Seeing Yvette's pale face, he knew Albert's condition was worse than expected.
But Yvette looked a bit tired, so Vincent didn't ask much. He just said softly, "Mrs. Valdemar, you should take the two children home to rest. You and the children haven't slept all night ."
Meeting Vincent's bloodshot eyes, Yvette felt momentarily torn. Wanting to stay with Albert so he would see her first when he woke up, she also wished to let the exhausted Vincent go home to rest.
But on the other hand, she knew the two children were still young, and as a mother, she should prioritize them.
These conflicting thoughts kept pulling and entangling her, making her feel extremely troubled.
She thought for a moment, looked at the two sleepy children, and said to Vincent, "Can you help me get a folding bed from the hospital so BoBo and CiCi can have a place to sleep? They aren't too delicate and aren't picky about where they sleep."
Vincent was stunned for a moment. "You're not going home to rest?"
"Yes, I'll stay here with him." Yvette's eyes fell on Albert with a look of heartache. "He got hurt saving the children. I don't want him to be disappointed when he wakes up."
Vincent said, "Alright, then I'll stay outside. If you need anything, just call me."
"No, you should go home and rest," Yvette said. "You haven't slept all night either, and there might be a lot of things you'll need to help with later. You need to ensure you have enough energy."
Vincent was somewhat moved. "Mrs. Valdemar..."
"Listen to me," Yvette said, looking tired. "There are many things I can't handle, so I'll need your help. You can't collapse."
Vincent finally agreed. "Alright."
Not long after, Vincent managed to get a hospital bed.
After coaxing the two children to sleep, Yvette also wanted to sleep for a while, but she couldn't fall asleep.
Every time she closed her eyes, the scene of Albert holding the children and falling from the building would appear in her mind, startling her awake.
Yvette, her mind in turmoil, carefully sat beside Albert and held his slightly cool hand. Tears fell, forming wet spots on the back of his hand, and the ward filled with her suppressed, faint sobs.
"Albert, you can't be in trouble. If something happens to you, what will I do?" Yvette pressed her face against the back of Albert's hand. "I'm very grateful that you saved BoBo and CiCi, but I don't want it to be at your expense. Please wake up, okay? If you wake up, I'll agree to anything you want..."
"Really?"A weak voice reached Yvette's ears, making her body stiffen and look up.
Albert, who had been unconscious for a long time, still had a pale face. Now, he was half-opening his eyes, looking at her with deep eyes.
That gaze was filled with surging emotions, yet incredibly restrained.
Albert was awake!
"Albert!" Yvette was overjoyed. She suddenly stood up from the chair and leaned close to Albert, her eyes filled with surprise.
"You're awake? How do you feel?" Yvette's eyes were red, and her voice gradually became nasal. "Does it still hurt?"
Albert's deep eyes traced the lines of her face, as if he wanted to imprint every expression into his mind.
Yvette met that gaze and immediately fell into sadness.
Did he know his injuries were severe?
Yvette's brows furrowed slightly. She leaned closer, worriedly asking, "How do you feel? Is there any discomfort?"
Albert still silently stared at her. The emotions surging in his eyes made Yvette panic.
Yvette said, "You need to tell me where it hurts so I can get the doctor..."
Before Yvette could finish her sentence, Albert's slightly cool hand had already touched her face.
Yvette was stunned and raised her hand to hold that hand.
"Yvette." Albert's voice was hoarse, filled with the relief of surviving a disaster. "I'm still alive."
"Yes!" Yvette nodded firmly, trying her best to bring hope to Albert. "You're alive, and the children are all alive too."
Yvette's voice carried a slight tremor. The image of him holding the children and falling from the building kept flashing in her mind.
She knew that at that moment, Albert must have been very scared too.
Yvette's eyes turned red. She bent down and hugged Albert, trying to give him a sense of being alive with her embrace.
"Thank you for saving the children," Yvette said, her soft cheek gently rubbing against Albert's chest. "And thank you for still being alive."
Albert glanced at BoBo and CiCi, who were sleeping peacefully on the bed, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He raised his hand and touched Yvette's hair. "No need to thank me."
"Yvette," Albert suddenly called out softly.
Yvette's heart skipped a beat, fearing he was feeling unwell. She quickly looked up at him. "What's wrong?"
Seeing the worry in Yvette's eyes, Albert couldn't help but smile. "Are you caring for me like this because I saved BoBo and CiCi?"
"Of course not!" Yvette was anxious. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Albert raised an eyebrow. "Then it's because you love me, so you care about me?"
Yvette was stunned, not expecting him to wait for her here. A trace of panic flashed in her eyes; she couldn't refute it, yet she didn't dare to admit it either.
She instinctively looked away, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks. "Falling from a building is a serious injury. Of course, I would care about you."
Knowing that Yvette was avoiding the question, Albert didn't let her off. He reached out and grabbed her delicate chin, forcing her to look at him. "Then if I wasn't injured saving them, would you still stay by my side like this?"
Yvette lowered her eyes. "Yes."
Albert's lips curled into a smile. He was about to get up and hug Yvette, but he found his legs a bit weak.
He frowned slightly. It seemed the leg fracture was still affecting him.
This thought flashed through his mind, but Albert didn't pay much attention to it.
He pulled Yvette into his arms and whispered in her ear, "Then you said you'd agree to anything I ask, is that true?"
