Chapter 115 Are You Married, Yvette?
Sunlight streamed through the glass as Albert watched the scene with a cold stare.
David and Yvette stood close; Yvette's face relaxed, eyes warm and sincere as she spoke to him, which totally different from how she acted around Albert.
Violet had been with Albert for years and couldn't tell him apart from David. When she realized David wasn't Albert, she was speechless.
But Yvette? She could tell them apart instantly.
That summer, it wasn't just Albert; David and Yvette were there too.
Yvette's smile faded a bit at David's words, "I've grown up, after all."
"Yeah," David smiled, "It's been years."
David felt someone watching him. He turned and saw Albert, stern-faced.
After years apart, two identical faces stared at each other with completely different expressions.
Across the sunlit corridor, David smiled at Albert.
"Albert."
Yvette turned and met Albert's gaze, then quickly looked away.
David walked up to Albert, "Albert, it's been a while. How about a coffee?"
"No need," Albert said coldly, adjusting his cuff without looking at David, "I have a flight to catch."
David felt a bit helpless. He glanced at his expensive watch, "No time at all?"
"No," Albert replied coldly.
"Albert, it's getting late. Let's go," Violet said, finally composed, standing next to Albert.
Seeing Albert's resistance, Violet felt relieved and explained to David, "David, pre-flight prep is complicated. We have to go."
Before Violet finished, Albert was already walking toward the plane. Violet quickly said goodbye and jogged to catch up.
They walked in matching uniforms, one in front and the other behind.
Even David, unfamiliar with them, could see how well they matched.
"Does that girl like Albert?"
David's words hit Yvette hard. She pursed her lips and looked away from their retreating figures, "Yes."
"Yvette, if Albert won't have dinner with me, will you?"
"I'm still on duty."
David pouted, "So, I'm getting rejected by both of you today?"
Yvette smiled helplessly, "Wait for me. I'll be off soon."
"Okay," David grinned triumphantly.
They exchanged contact info and set a meeting time. Yvette took the medical kit from Dr. Valdemar and led her inside.
Thinking of Albert and Violet's perfectly matched backs, Yvette felt a bit dazed.
"Dr. Orlando, those twins are so handsome! One's a dashing pilot, the other's a successful CEO. How do you know them?"
Yvette frowned, not wanting to answer.
After a moment, she replied, "I knew them when I was a kid."
"Knowing such handsome men since childhood, and you still married someone else?" Dr. Valdemar was surprised. "Your husband must be super handsome then."
Yvette bitterly pursed her lips. Her husband was the "dashing pilot" who didn't even greet her when he saw her.
Yvette took a deep breath and led Dr. Valdemar onto the plane. "Let's swap out the emergency kit quickly so we don't disrupt the crew."
"Got it, I can handle this," Dr. Valdemar said, taking the kit from her hands.
Yvette rubbed her slightly sore back and instinctively glanced toward the cockpit.
But Albert and Violet were gone, and she didn't know what she was still looking for.
Violet followed Albert, sensing his displeasure as she stared at his cold back.
They entered the cabin one after the other. Violet couldn't hold back any longer. "Albert!"
Albert turned around impatiently. "I thought we settled everything yesterday. What now?"
"Last night was my fault. I'm sorry."
"I know," Albert said, dismissing her.
"Why didn't you tell me you and your brother are twins?"
Albert's body stiffened, and he frowned. "That's none of your business."
"That's not what I meant."
Violet wanted to explain, but Albert cut her off.
"Focus on your work, or I'll request a replacement."
Hidden in the bustling city, the restaurant had a cozy, aid-back vibe, with a faint scent of sandalwood mixed with the aroma of food, creating a very elegant atmosphere.
Yvette found it hard to believe that David, who had been abroad for years, could find such a tranquil place.
They sat across from each other, and David's eyes never left Yvette's face.
Feeling a bit self-conscious, Yvette touched her face. "Is there something on my face?"
David shook his head. "No, it's just been so long. I want to remember how you look now."
"Didn't you say I haven't changed?"
"You've matured a bit," David said, looking into her eyes. "How have you been all these years?"
Yvette was taken aback. It was a common question between old friends, but it made her feel a bit sad.
Thinking about everything that had happened over the years, it all seemed a bit absurd.
She went from a heart-pounding crush on Albert to always following him. They spent two years as casual partners, then she got pregnant before marriage and married Albert. And they were about to divorce.
These years hadn't been too bad, but they hadn't been great either.
Yvette forced a smile. "Not too bad, nothing special. How about you?"
David tasted the dish in front of him and thought for a moment. "I've been okay too, studying hard and working a lot, waiting for an opportunity."
"Waiting for what opportunity?"
"The opportunity to come back," David said with a proud smile. "I got it, so I came back."
Yvette nodded. "Congratulations on getting what you wanted."
She picked up her fork to try the dish David had recommended when his gentle voice interrupted her.
"Are you married, Yvette?"
