Chapter 510 David Takes Advantage of the Situation

The moment Albert saw David, his expression turned dark and guarded.

Albert studied that face—identical to his own—searching for any telltale signs in David's expression or movements. But David's features remained impassive, wearing that same faint smile that revealed nothing.

Meeting Albert's scrutinizing gaze, David spoke softly. "Albert."

He greeted him as if nothing had happened, maintaining the careful distance of a twin brother—neither overly familiar nor cold.

Albert's jaw tightened, his lips pressed into a thin line as he remained silent. Seeing David still confined to the wheelchair, his face bearing unmistakable pallor and exhaustion, Albert knew his brother's condition was far from suitable for the grueling journey from Eldoria to Luken.

Sensing Albert's analytical stare, David's smile gradually faded. He met Albert's gaze and lifted his chin slightly. Despite being seated and looking up at Albert, his presence commanded equal authority.

David's eyes darkened as he cut straight to the point. "I hear you've lost Yvette."

Albert's brow furrowed, his penetrating gaze sharpening with an air of supreme arrogance. At the mention of Yvette's name, his jaw clenched as if suppressing a torrent of emotions.

Albert's voice remained glacial. "That's none of your concern."

"Of course it concerns me." David's stare turned razor-sharp. "If you hadn't insisted on taking her away and keeping her in Luken, she would be living safely and happily in Eldoria right now."

David made no attempt to hide his suspicion and fury as he baited Albert.

Albert's frown deepened, his cold gaze sweeping over David's face. "She's my wife. Whatever happens, it's not your place to interfere."

"Your wife?" David's expression grew even more sinister, a flash of malice flickering in his eyes. When he spoke again, his voice dripped with mockery. "You can't even protect her properly. What right do you have to call yourself her husband?"

"David." Albert's voice turned hoarse and low, laden with warning. "Know your place. You're nothing to Yvette—you have no right to meddle. I, Albert, answer to no one. She's under my protection, while you..." He cast a derisive look at David and his wheelchair, leaning forward with predatory intensity. "You should focus on protecting yourself."

Albert straightened slowly, said nothing more, and walked away without a backward glance.

His face remained taut, his dark eyes churning like a gathering storm. David's return to Luken in his current condition, at this particular moment, asking about Yvette—none of it sat well with Albert.

He couldn't shake his suspicions about David's true motives for coming back now.

Albert pulled out his phone and sent Vincent a message: [David's back in Luken. Keep eyes on him.]

Since Yvette's disappearance, Albert had made it a point to return home each evening to spend time with the children. No matter how exhausted he felt, he would pause before entering, rubbing his aching temples and forcing himself to appear relaxed in front of them.

But today, when Albert pushed open the door, he wasn't greeted by BoBo and CiCi's adorable faces—he found David instead.

David wasn't in his wheelchair this time but seated comfortably on the sofa. BoBo and CiCi flanked him, their eyes bright with excitement, their faces radiant with joy.

Hearing the sound from the doorway, David looked up and offered Albert a subtle smile, his eyes carrying an unmistakable hint of triumph.

The scene struck Albert like a cold needle piercing his vision.

His chest rose and fell rapidly, his breathing becoming labored as fury roiled in the depths of his eyes. But in front of the children, he couldn't let it show.

Albert's gaze cut through David like a blade, though his sharp voice was directed at the trembling servants nearby. "Who gave you permission to let him in?"

His voice carried accusation and reproach, nearly bringing the servants to their knees.

Beatrice spoke with a trembling voice, clearly distressed. "Mr. Valdemar, we thought it was you returning home, perhaps unable to open the door yourself..."

They were just servants. Though they'd watched both Albert and David grow up, they simply couldn't tell them apart. The twins looked too identical! If David hadn't shown some difficulty moving when he entered, they might not have noticed even if he'd taken BoBo and CiCi away with him.

The thought sent cold sweat down Beatrice's spine, and the other servants exchanged terrified glances, not daring to meet Albert's furious expression.

BoBo sensed Albert's displeasure and realized he and CiCi had made a mistake. Yvette had told them long ago not to contact David. But... BoBo felt guilty. He didn't understand adult matters, but he knew he should listen to Yvette. Right now, they needed to stand with Albert.

BoBo reached out and tugged CiCi's sleeve. "CiCi, I want to go play with Legos."

"I want to..." CiCi was about to refuse, wanting to spend more time with David. She'd missed him so much! But seeing BoBo's stern look, she deflated immediately, pouting as she said reluctantly, "I want to keep you company, BoBo."

"Let's go." BoBo led CiCi back to their room, and with a wave of Albert's hand, the servants scattered like frightened birds.

The vast living room now held only Albert and David, the atmosphere thick with tension and menace.

"This isn't where you belong," Albert said grimly, his voice carrying a clear warning.

"Of course I belong here." David's lips curved slightly as he looked at Albert with challenge. "I came to see my children."

Before Albert could respond, David chuckled softly and continued, "I need to discuss their return to Eldoria with them."

Albert's expression shifted as he stared directly into David's eyes, letting out a cold laugh. "David, do you understand what you're saying?"

"Absolutely. I'm not here to negotiate with you." David's tone was filled with mockery and contempt. "I came back to take my two children with me."

Albert's voice dropped to a dangerous rumble, barely containing his anger. "You think you have the power to take the children from me?"

David raised an eyebrow, leaning forward slightly as he looked at Albert, enunciating each word clearly. "I do. Because I am their father."
