Chapter 105 To Call Dr. Orlando Over
Albert was about to snap back when Victor cut him off.
"Hold up. Sometimes you don't even get your own feelings. Think about it."
Albert felt a twinge of irritation at Victor's smug look.
He shot Victor a frosty glare. "Who she dances with is her business. I don't interfere, never have."
Albert might've dropped the jealousy topic, but he was clearly denying it. To Victor, he was just being stubborn.
Victor didn't want to waste time arguing.
He waved dismissively. "Every time you open your mouth, you hurt people. No wonder Yvette doesn't want to dance with you. I'm off to dance with my partner. After work, I'll hit up the teacher for some lessons. Later."
With that, Victor walked away.
Albert's face tightened, his lips a thin line, as he watched Victor leave with a cold stare.
Is Yvette really entering a dance competition? Why hadn't she mentioned it?
Albert pulled out his phone and searched the work group chat.
Sure enough, there was a notice about a ballroom dance competition. The date was before he and Yvette got married.
Her name was right there on the list.
But back then, he hadn't paid any attention to Yvette, so he missed it.
The medical center was buzzing that morning, and Yvette, who was resigning, was swamped with transition work.
Finally, during a break, Sylvia came over to chat.
"Yvette, isn't your dance competition coming up? Have you been practicing?"
Yvette, feeling somewhat exhausted, took a sip of water. "Dance competition? What dance competition?"
"The state-level ballroom dance competition for our company. Didn't you sign up two months ago?"
Yvette paused, then remembered. "I totally forgot about that."
She wiped the water from her mouth and said calmly, "I'm resigning. I don't need to participate, right?"
"The competition is still during your employment period. Just in these few days."
"Really?" Yvette seemed uninterested.
"But you have a foundation, so you probably don't need much practice."
Sylvia smiled. "I remember back in school, you and Wyatt were the best pair, winning the state college championship. You amazed us all."
Yvette gave Sylvia a helpless look. "You remember that? It was just for the credits back then."
Sylvia glanced at Yvette. "Yeah, you and Wyatt aced everything, took all the scholarships. You really took full advantage of everything college had to offer!"
Hearing Sylvia's joking complaint, Yvette couldn't help but laugh. "Not too bad."
"But now your husband is Albert. Shouldn't you be dancing with him?"
Yvette instinctively frowned. If their relationship hadn't deteriorated recently, dancing with Albert for the company wouldn't have been a problem.
But now, every time she saw Albert, they argued and talked about divorce. How could they practice dancing together, let alone compete at the state level?
Thinking about it, Yvette shook her head firmly. "I'll tell the boss I'm not participating. I'm pregnant; it's not safe."
"Moderate exercise should be fine, right?" Sylvia raised an eyebrow. "You could even dance with other guys."
"That's totally unnecessary." Yvette picked up her water cup and stood up. "I have a prenatal checkup later."
Sylvia, realizing she was joking, quickly asked, "Are you going alone or with Albert?"
Not wanting Sylvia to worry, Yvette fibbed. "He's going with me."
"That's good." Sylvia looked at Yvette and said emotionally, "Maybe you shouldn't resign. Isn't it nice being close to Albert at North Airlines? Seeing each other more often could help your relationship. It would be good for all three of you."
Hearing "the three of you," Yvette felt a bit resistant. She didn't want her resolve to waver.
She instinctively changed the topic. "The salary here is too low. I'll go back to being a surgeon. The more you work, the more you earn. If I work hard, I can still make $200,000 a year."
Sylvia's serious expression broke into a smile. "Why work so hard? Albert's family is loaded."
Yvette really didn't want to talk about Albert anymore. "He's he, and me's me." She blinked and said seriously, "I'm an independent woman."
"But you are a couple!"
Yvette smiled. "I'm off to my prenatal checkup. I've already taken leave. If we keep talking, I'll have to go to the ER for the checkup."
The plane landed smoothly, and Albert had finished the announcement, ready to start disembarking the passengers.
He glanced at his watch. By now, Victor and Yvette should be practicing their dance.
Albert frowned, took a few deep breaths, but still felt uneasy.
Just then, Steve knocked on the door, looking serious. "Mr. Valdemar, a passenger has fainted in the cabin."
Albert stood up. "I'll take a look."
As soon as Albert got up, the chief flight attendant came running over.
"Don't worry, it's fine. The passenger has already woken up."
Steve immediately let out a sigh of relief. "That's good."
Albert took a few steps forward and said to the chief flight attendant, "Call the medical center. Fainting is unpredictable. To be safe, have them come and check."
"No need. The passenger said they know their own condition; it's an old problem. They will seek medical attention later. The medical center isn't specialized, so it's fine if they don't come." With that, the chief flight attendant went back to her duties.
Steve was about to leave too, but Albert stopped him.
"Call the medical center."
Steve looked at Albert, puzzled. "Didn't the chief flight attendant just say the passenger will seek medical attention on their own and doesn't need the medical center?"
"I said, have them come and check. If the passenger is hiding something, it could lead to an accident." Albert's expression was serious, his tone firm. "Make the call."
"Okay."
Steve didn't dare question Albert's decision, given how serious and professional he sounded, but he still found it a bit odd.
This seemed unnecessary. What was his real motive?
Was he just looking for an excuse to call Dr. Orlando over?
