Chapter 174 Yvette Actively Requested a Meeting

After wrapping up his flights early, Albert didn't head straight home. Instead, he went back to the office.

There was a knock on the office door, and Steve walked in with a stack of papers.

Steve gave Albert a quick glance and set the documents down in front of him. "Mr. Valdemar, here are the documents you asked for."

"Thanks." Albert shrugged off his coat. "You can head home now. Appreciate all your hard work today."

Steve nodded but hesitated, glancing at Albert. He took a couple of steps toward the door, but just as he reached for the doorknob, he turned back, looking troubled.

Albert looked up, puzzled. "You don't want to go home?"

"It's not that, Albert," Steve said, frowning a bit. "I was wondering if I should tell you something."

"Go ahead," Albert replied.

Steve scratched his head awkwardly and blurted out, "When I was coming up, I heard people talking about you and Violet."

Albert frowned, clearly annoyed. "If it's not important, you might as well not go home tonight."

"I think it's important, or I wouldn't be so torn about telling you," Steve said seriously. "I heard Dr. Orlando's mom caused a scene today and had a big argument with Violet. A lot of passengers saw it. I wanted to give you a heads-up in case the higher-ups come looking for you."

Albert thought of Lassie's disruptive behavior, a flash of disgust crossing his face. He exhaled slowly. "Got it. Thanks."

Just then, the office door swung open. Both men turned to see Violet, her eyes red, walking in.

Seeing this, Steve immediately wanted to leave.

Albert glanced at Steve. "Open the door. After we're done talking, I need you to do something for me."

Steve's face turned awkward. First, he was told he could go home, and now he had to stay.

With the door open, Steve had to stay inside, clearly to avoid any rumors. He was really unlucky.

Steve didn't dare argue and followed Albert's instructions, opening the office door and standing awkwardly behind them, forced to watch.

Violet, shot Steve a dissatisfied look. Steve avoided her gaze, staring at the floor instead.

Violet walked up to Albert's desk, her tone accusatory. "Albert, whatever is between you and Yvette has nothing to do with me, but her mom came to North Airlines and almost got physical with me. Is that fair to me?"

Albert stood up, looking her in the eye. "I apologize on her behalf for this incident."

Violet's eyes reddened, tears welling up. "This has really affected me. My boss is already planning to talk to me."

"I'll find a way to resolve this," Albert said firmly. "Don't worry, it won't affect your reputation."

Violet bit her lip, looking at him with sadness. "Albert, are you happy? You don't want to get back together with me, but you married Yvette, who has such a family."

Albert's eyes turned cold. "I married her, not her family."

Violet was stunned, opening her mouth but unable to speak.

Just then, Albert's phone rang. Both of them glanced at it—it was Yvette.

Tears instantly welled up in Violet's eyes. "Looks like she's calling to complain?"

Albert didn't respond to Violet. He just answered the call.

Yvette's voice was calm. "Can we meet?"

Albert replied, "When?"

"As soon as possible," she answered quickly.

Albert's Adam's apple bobbed slightly. "I'll come to you now."

Hanging up, Albert met Violet's hurt-filled eyes and said, "I have something to do now. I'll handle this matter."

He grabbed his coat, draped it over his arm, and left the office.

It was rush hour, and the streets were packed.

Yvette stood by the roadside, arms crossed, staring blankly at the slow-moving cars, but Albert's car never showed up.

Under the setting sun, everything seemed to have a hazy filter, making it all a bit blurry.

A black car stopped in front of Yvette, but she remained lost in thought. It wasn't until the cars behind started honking furiously that she snapped out of it, quickly opening the door and getting in.

Yvette glanced at Albert, then lowered her eyes without speaking.

Albert started the car, his expression cold and his tone steely. "You needed to see me?"

Yvette bit her lip. "Yes, let's go to your place first. I have something important to tell you."

Albert glanced thoughtfully at the hospital behind her, then drove into the traffic.

Back at Albert's house, Yvette felt a bit nervous. She clutched her bag straps, following Albert inside.

Albert still wore a cold expression, making Yvette feel ashamed under his gaze. She instinctively lowered her head.

After all, she had just said a few days ago that she wanted to cut ties with him and the Valdemar family, yet now she was calling him for help. He had every right to disdain her.

Albert handed Yvette a glass of water. "You can speak now."

Yvette took the glass, sipped it lightly, and nodded. "Something happened today, and I need your help."

"Go ahead."

Yvette bit her lip. "My mom went to North Airlines today and confronted Violet. You might have heard about it, so I hope you can help handle it. If necessary, I can publicly apologize."

Albert frowned. "This isn't your fault."

"I know, but I need to do this for my mom."

"Your apology won't help. I'll handle it," Albert said, staring into Yvette's eyes. "Is that all you wanted to say?"

Yvette shook her head, her hands clenched into fists at her sides. "The reason my mom can't apologize is that she had an accident after leaving North Airlines."

"An accident?" Albert frowned. "What kind of accident?"

"She hurt her head, and the bleeding is in a very bad spot, so we need Dr. Willard to perform the surgery for a higher success rate." Yvette took a deep breath, trying to hold back her emotions, but her voice still trembled. "I've tried everything and contacted many people, but I can't reach Dr. Martinez, so I have to ask for your help."

Yvette's words made Albert, who was initially pleased that she came to him for help, instantly turn disappointed.
