Chapter 225 The Kiss Marks on Yvette

The showerhead above sprayed a fine stream of water, washing over Yvette's body.

As the warm water flowed, Yvette felt a burning pain in every part of her body.

She had no idea how long she had been in the shower before she finally stepped out.

Facing the large mirror, Yvette saw her skin covered with the ambiguous marks Albert had left the night before.

Yvette found a high-collared shirt, but it still couldn't cover the marks on her neck. She finally gave up and walked out as she was.

By the time Yvette came downstairs, it was already lunchtime. Cheryl, wearing glasses, was sitting on the sofa, scrutinizing her phone with a serious expression.

When she saw Yvette coming down, she was about to speak but her eyes lit up.

Cheryl stood up with a smile and asked, "Yvette, you're up?"

"Grandma." Yvette tugged at the corners of her mouth, forcing a smile. She stated, "I overslept, so I couldn't join you for breakfast."

"Don't worry about it," Cheryl said, glancing at Yvette's neck again.

Yvette felt a bit embarrassed and instinctively lowered her head to avoid Cheryl's gaze.

At this moment, Yvette's feelings were complicated. She felt a knot of confusion in her stomach. She noticed Cheryl's look but couldn't quite place what it meant.

The aroma of food filled the air, prompting Yvette to turn and observe the servants as they commenced serving the sumptuous dishes.

Just then, the doorbell of the Valdemar family rang, and David walked in. He greeted, "Grandma, Yvette."

David was smiling gently, but the moment he saw Yvette, his pupils contracted slightly, and his expression froze.

Cheryl, in a good mood, quickly welcomed David, "David! So sweet of you to join me for lunch."

David's thoughts were interrupted. He blinked unnaturally, shifted his gaze away from Yvette, and replied, "I had some free time at noon, so I came back to see you."

Yvette awkwardly adjusted her collar and sat down next to Cheryl.

Cheryl nodded, as she said, "We made the steak you and Albert love today. Since Albert isn't here, you should eat more."

David's Adam's apple bobbed slightly, and he stated with a smile, "Grandma, I might have to take a rain check. I just came to say hi."

Cheryl frowned, inquiring, "Why? You're already here, why not stay for lunch?"

David's gaze unintentionally swept over the back of Yvette's neck, where there were also faint kiss marks.

David's throat tightened. He couldn't sit in front of Yvette like this and eat lunch.

"I have a meeting later." he said, "A big lunch wouldn't sit well."

"Alright, work comes first," Cheryl said, waving her hand dismissively. "Yvette skipped breakfast, so I'm sure she's starving. Let's eat."

David answered, "Okay."

He looked at Yvette. She was still as quiet as ever, sitting silently at the dining table, head bowed, eating gracefully. It didn't match the ambiguous marks on her body at all.

David's jaw tightened, and he felt like he couldn't breathe properly.

David averted his gaze, "Grandma, I'm running out of time. I have to go."

He couldn't stay here any longer.

Back in her room, Yvette stood in front of a stack of cash for a long time.

She didn't need it. Lassie's medical bills were paid, and there was no one left to ask her for money. But she couldn't leave the Valdemars, couldn't get a divorce, and couldn't go abroad to study. Even James's money remained untouched.

The $2,000 felt like a slap in the face.

Yvette took a deep breath and finally put the money away in the bedside drawer.

Suddenly, her phone rang. Yvette glanced at the familiar number, and her heart skipped a beat.

She swallowed and answered the call.

On the other end, Albert's cold and calm voice came through, "Come to the Valdemar Group. As my spouse, there are some documents you need to sign."

"Okay," Yvette answered.

Cheryl arranged for the Valdemar family's driver, Milton Sanders, to take Yvette to the Valdemar Group.

Not only that, Milton directly coordinated with the reception and took Yvette upstairs to Albert's temporary office.

Zoey Green from the reception led her to the office, explaining, "Albert is just temporarily using this office."

"Okay," Yvette responded casually.

Following Zoey to Albert's office, Zoey knocked on the door, saying, "Albert."

Albert answered, "Come in."

Zoey opened the office door, and Yvette looked up to see Albert sitting in a swivel chair, looking down at some documents. Beside him stood a woman in professional attire, beautiful with long legs and a good figure, slightly bent over, standing very close to Albert.

From the doorway, the distance between them seemed inappropriate.

Zoey also noticed it and instinctively tried to close the door to prevent Yvette from seeing. Yvette calmly blocked it with her arm.

"Thank you," Yvette said softly.

Zoey's expression changed, which also made Albert aware of the situation. He glanced at Linda Inome beside him and instinctively wanted to move away from her, but seeing Yvette, he forcibly restrained himself.

Albert's Adam's apple bobbed slightly as he looked up at Yvette, saying, "Come in."

"Okay." Yvette ignored the close distance between the two and turned to sit on the guest sofa far away. She stated calmly, "You mentioned that there are documents requiring my signature; please bring them over."

"I'll do it!" said Linda.

She usually kept her distance from Albert; his reputation was intimidating. She had unconsciously leaned in while explaining the documents and expected a reprimand, but he hadn't reacted.

Linda leaned over, reaching past half of Albert's body to get a file box from the other side of the shelf.

From Yvette's perspective, Linda's chest was almost touching Albert's face.

However, Albert didn't flinch, seemingly unfazed by the contact.

Yvette pressed her lips together and instinctively lowered her gaze.

When he was still a pilot, many women had thrown themselves at him. She'd been one of them. Now, as the head of Valdemar Group, there were even more.

But she knew that she had no right to be dissatisfied before, nor does she possess now.

Even though she was his legal wife.

Yvette took the documents from Linda, catching a whiff of her perfume, and said softly, "Thank you."
