Chapter 301 Carrying Yvette into the "Bridal Suite"
The crystal chandelier sparkled in the banquet hall. Everyone took their seats, chatting like nothing had happened earlier.
David sat down with his two kids next to James and Lisa, leaving a spot open for Yvette.
At first, the kids played with the forks and water glasses, but they got bored pretty quickly.
Lester and Christina started whining and climbed onto David.
Each kid sat on one of David's legs, clinging to his arms and refusing to let go.
"Daddy, I'm so bored," they said.
David patted their heads, as they didn't usually attend big events like this and felt uneasy without Yvette.
David put some snacks in front of them. "Are you hungry? Daddy got you some snacks."
Christina, who usually loved these snacks, wasn't interested. "I don't want to eat."
Lester said, "It's almost dinner time. Mommy said no snacks before dinner."
Mentioning Yvette made the kids even more anxious.
Lester kept looking back for Yvette, while Christina, unsettled by the noise and Yvette's absence, buried her head in David's chest.
Christina pouted and tightened her grip on David's arm. "Daddy, I miss Mommy. Why isn't she back yet?"
Lester's little face scrunched up. He missed Yvette too but tried to comfort Christina. "CiCi, Mommy went to the restroom. You need to learn to wait. She'll be back soon."
Hearing the kids, David frowned slightly.
James, who was talking to David, glanced disapprovingly at the kids.
Sensing James's dislike for the kids, David smirked, hiding the coldness in his eyes.
If James knew these kids were Albert's, he would have taken action long ago.
Christina whined, her voice tinged with dissatisfaction. "But I really miss Mommy. She's been gone for a long time."
Lester, despite his young age, looked at David with a hint of grievance. "Daddy."
David checked the time, his face darkening, a shadow of worry enveloping him.
It had been over ten minutes since Yvette left. Where could she be?
She knew the Valdemar estate well and shouldn't have gotten lost.
Could she be with Albert?
David frowned.
"Kids, stay here and wait for me. I'll go find your mommy," David said.
Christina shook her head. "No, Daddy, don't go."
David, anxious to find Yvette, was held back by Christina. He had to reassure her. "Daddy will be back as soon as I find Mommy. I'll ask the housekeeper to take care of you. Don't be afraid."
Saying this, David called a Valdemar Family servant and instructed sternly, "Take good care of the kids. I'm going to find Yvette."
"Daddy."
In the background, the hesitant voices of Christina and Lester trailed behind. David, already on edge, couldn't focus on them and quickly rose to search for Yvette.
Yvette was taken aback by the sudden sensation of weightlessness. Before she could comprehend the situation, Albert was already striding away.
"What are you doing?" Yvette exclaimed. "Put me down!"
Yvette struggled hard, but Albert held her tightly. The more she struggled, the closer she was held, his heartbeat and breath so close. It made her extremely embarrassed, trying to shield herself with her hands. "Albert, let go of me! If you don't, I'll call David!"
Albert glanced down at Yvette, his eyes gleaming darkly. "Go ahead, shout louder. Let everyone hear. I'm looking forward to it."
Yvette froze. There were already so many rumors about her. If people saw her with Albert like this, the gossip would only get worse.
He was a madman. She couldn't lose her mind with him.
Yvette bit her lip, not daring to make a sound, and could only clench her fists and pound on Albert's chest.
But he seemed impervious to pain, his expression unchanged no matter how hard Yvette hit him.
Before she knew it, Albert had carried her upstairs. The increasingly familiar hallway, the decorations she had seen countless times, and the bedroom door that was getting closer.
The familiarity mixed with pain, like thousands of ants gnawing at her heart, both painful and itchy, making her break out in goosebumps.
Yvette resisted fiercely, making a final stand. "Put me down, Albert. I don't want to go!"
Before she could struggle, Albert had already opened the door and carried Yvette inside.
With a bang, Albert kicked the door shut. The taut string in Yvette's mind snapped, and all her resistance was overwhelmed like a flood, leaving her breathless.
She struggled frantically. "Let go, Albert!"
Yvette's strength suddenly increased, forcing Albert to hold her even tighter to prevent her from falling.
"Albert!" Yvette's eyes were already misty with tears.
Albert frowned and looked down at her, finally setting Yvette down and loosening his grip.
With her feet on the ground, Yvette regained her freedom and immediately tried to open the door to leave this terrifying space. But a large hand was already blocking her way.
Yvette struggled to open the door, but it remained stubbornly shut despite her efforts.
Furious, she turned to retaliate, only to be met with Albert's close presence, his hand casually positioned near her ear. Caught between the unyielding door and his comforting chest, she locked eyes with his teasing gaze.
Reflected in his eyes, she saw her own disheveled and panicked expression.
Yvette couldn't hold back any longer, her voice trembling as she questioned, "What do you want? Can you let me go?"
All of Yvette's loss of control, avoidance, and weakness were captured by Albert. There was no need for further proof; her reaction said it all.
She wasn't Jessica. She was his wife, Yvette, with whom he had shared countless intimate moments.
Albert's fingers gripped Yvette's chin, forcing her to look at him.
"Didn't you say you're not Yvette? Why are you so scared when you see our 'wedding room'?"
Yvette's body trembled slightly, but she gritted her teeth and argued, "I'm not Yvette. I'm Jessica! Anyone would be scared if a stranger carried them to a private room!"
Yvette glared intensely at Albert, like an angry little fox baring its teeth, ready to bite him.
Despite her anger, Albert remained unbothered.
After a moment, he smirked and grabbed Yvette's slender wrist.
"Still won't admit it? How about I take you to relive our wedding bed?"
