Chapter 244 You're Arguing After Making a Mistake?

Heading down to the wine cellar, the bright surroundings dimmed.

The cellar was lit by a few voice-activated lights, casting a soft glow. The space was elegantly and warmly decorated.

The room was filled with the lingering, intoxicating aroma of fine wines, the scent almost overwhelming.

This wine cellar belonged to Bishop's eldest son, Ernest Valdemar, and it was packed with rare and exquisite wines.

When showing off the wines, Ernest's face was lit up with pride.

"I got this one at an auction. The bidding was intense, but I managed to snag it," Ernest said, pointing to a bottle in the display cabinet. "It's over a hundred years old and has significant collectible value."

"And this bottle is a real gem, with only six hundred bottles worldwide. I spotted it at a wine exhibition a few years back. It took months of effort and a friend's help to finally buy it."

"And check this out, even more intriguing. It's among the top ten renowned wines in our country, went for hundreds of grand at a vintage wine auction. I felt the burn for a good while after grabbing that one."

The men in the wine cellar were all ears. These collectible wines had their full attention.

David stared at a bottle of wine, lost in thought. When he turned around, he noticed Albert, who seemed out of place among the crowd.

Albert's brows were slightly furrowed, and he occasionally glanced outside the wine cellar, looking uninterested in these valuable wines and rather distracted.

David almost didn't need to think to know who Albert was looking for.

Seeing Albert checking his watch impatiently, David couldn't help but clench his fist.

He had always thought Albert didn't care about Yvette at all, and every time he used Yvette to provoke him, it was just because he hated her "betrayal."

But seeing Albert's worried expression now, it didn't seem like an act.

Could it be that Albert's feelings for Yvette were not as indifferent as he had shown?

David's jaw tightened as he gazed at Albert.

Perhaps his gaze was too intense, for when Albert glanced at him with an impassive expression, David was compelled to avert his eyes and refocus on the wines, though his thoughts wandered far away.

At the family gathering, the women never followed the men.

While the men went to the wine cellar, the women sat together and sipped tea.

Ernest's wife, Ruth Gonzalez, dressed simply, but wore a very expensive diamond bracelet on her wrist.

"That bracelet must be a gift from Ernest, right? You two have such a great relationship!"

"Great relationship? What are you talking about?" Ruth scoffed, waving her hand dismissively. "As soon as he comes out, I can't see him. He must be showing off his wines again. Ernest doesn't have many faults, but he loves to show off his random collections. There's no talking to him about it!"

"What's there to talk about? He runs such a big business; naturally, he wouldn't have anything to show off if he didn't have some assets, right?" Lisa, who appeared quite familiar with Ruth, touched her arm as she spoke, "Ernest's wines are indeed very valuable. You have no idea, my husband is always envious after seeing them. This time, Albert and David also went to taste the wines. I bet they'll be talking about it for a long time!"

Lisa's words made Ruth squint with laughter, and she leaned in closer, casting envious glances towards Lisa.

The two chatted more and more happily, and it was clear that Lisa was making Ruth very happy. Although the other women wore smiles, their eyes betrayed a lack of joy, and several times, they cast envious glances towards Lisa.

Lisa was very tactful. Seeing that everyone was somewhat displeased with her, she gradually toned it down, got up, and poured tea for the others, which finally eased the atmosphere.

The vibe started to mellow out. Ruth noticed someone eyeing her bracelet and smiled. "I see you all like this bracelet?"

"Of course, who wouldn't like such an expensive diamond bracelet?!"

"Yeah, you're really lucky."

"I liked it a lot at first too," Ruth smiled and casually took off the bracelet, placing it on the table. She said, "But now that I'm used to it, I don't like it as much. If you fancy it, feel free to take a look. After seeing it so often, it doesn't seem as remarkable."

The other women stared at the bracelet, discussing and admiring the high-priced diamond bracelet with those around them.

Yvette sat quietly next to Lisa, sipping her tea.

Not really into these things, Yvette was also drawn to the bracelet in front of her.

Seeing Yvette also staring at the bracelet, Ruth, in a good mood, handed it to Yvette. "Do you like it, Yvette? You can take a look."

"Okay, thank you." Yvette instinctively opened her palm, and the next second, the bracelet was in her hand.

Yvette admired it for a couple of seconds before handing it back, but the atmosphere suddenly turned icy.

After Ruth took back the bracelet, Lisa's face changed as she remarked, "Yvette, how could you touch Ruth's bracelet so casually?"

Yvette was stunned, seeing everyone looking at her as if watching a show, and felt a bit embarrassed.

She immediately stood up and apologized, "I'm sorry."

Ruth waved her hand casually. "What's the big deal? Since I gave it to you to look at, it means I don't mind."

Lisa couldn't say more and could only glare at Yvette.

As the crowd dispersed, Lisa still had a stern face, while Yvette, standing beside her, looked down, clutching her fingers in frustration.

Yvette had always been cautious and wasn't one to touch other people's things. What she did today was really foolish. That diamond bracelet was very expensive, and she shouldn't have touched it so easily.

Seeing no one around, Lisa gave Yvette a disdainful look, inquiring, "Everyone here is a relative of the Valdemar family. Do you realize how foolish you've been, Yvette?"

Yvette frowned slightly, looking at Lisa without humility and retorting, "Ruth generously let me touch it, but you seem to have a lot of opinions."

"You're arguing after making a mistake? Who taught you that?" Lisa, usually gentle, now had an unexpected edge to her tone..

Yvette pursed her lips, about to retort, when a deep, cold male voice interrupted, "What's going on?"
