Chapter 159 Two People Coincidentally Meet at the Bar's Shared Table 2
Albert was eyeing Yvette from across the room. She'd moved spots and had a few drinks, and now even her neck had this cute little flush going on.
Her eyes lit up when she saw him, still all bright and shiny, with that tipsy look.
Albert's throat bobbed, and his face got all tense.
Victor picked up on Albert's weird vibe real quick. He followed his gaze and spotted Yvette.
Victor was like, "Whoa, is this for real?" But before he could ask, Albert shot him a look that could kill.
Victor, not happy, snapped, "Dude, what's with the death stare? You picked this place, not me!"
Albert finally looked away, eyes down, not saying a word.
Meanwhile, Yvette noticed Albert too.
He stood tall, rocking some casual threads that somehow looked both chill and classy. In the dim light, his eyes seemed even deeper, and his sharp features totally grabbed Yvette's attention.
She didn't say anything, just kept staring into his eyes.
She'd thought since she and Sylvia were almost done drinking, having some randoms join their table wouldn't be a big deal. But she hadn't expected to run into Albert.
And even crazier, Albert was the one joining their table.
Yvette sighed, feeling a bit bummed. If she'd known, she wouldn't have agreed to share.
A waiter came up to Albert, pointing to Yvette's table. "Hey guys, you can join that table. Order whatever you want, and someone will come by to take your order so your drinks don't get mixed up. Just holler if you need anything."
Then the waiter bounced, leaving the four of them in this awkward stare-off.
Sylvia turned around and saw Albert and Victor standing there, looking surprised. "Wait, it's them who wanna join us?"
Yvette thought for a sec. "Looks like it."
Sylvia groaned, "Man, we have the worst luck."
Yvette nodded, dead serious. "Totally."
After a moment of awkwardness, Victor, worried Albert might bail, grabbed his arm. "Come on, let's join them."
Once Albert and Victor got to the table, Sylvia scooted over to sit next to Yvette. The four of them sat facing each other, three looking pretty annoyed, while Victor tried to keep things light with a smile.
Victor started to order. "No need to split the bill; we're all friends here. Mr. Valdemar's covering it."
Sylvia shot him a cold look. "Dude, you talk too much. We're here to drink, not chat!"
Victor shrugged. "Hey, we're sharing a table, might as well drink and chat together."
Sylvia, not having it, snapped, "Either you zip it, or we're outta here."
"Outta here?" Victor asked. "Didn't you just come from a bar?"
Victor and Sylvia kept up this on-and-off chat, while Albert and Yvette just stared at their drinks, not even glancing at each other.
Feeling the awkward vibes, Victor piped up, "Hey, how about we play some games when the drinks get here?"
Before he could finish, the waiter came back.
"Sorry, but we have another group of three, and this is the only open table. Mind sharing?"
Albert frowned, ready to say no, but Yvette beat him to it.
"Sure," she said, crisp and clear. Albert glanced at her, realizing she didn't want to be alone with him.
Albert felt a twinge of disappointment but kept quiet.
The three newcomers were young dudes. They seemed a bit rowdy but not too bad, which made Yvette feel a bit more at ease.
With strangers around, Yvette felt more comfortable facing Albert.
The three guys sat down, making the place feel more lively.
One of them, eyeing Yvette and Sylvia, started chatting. "Lucky us, sharing a table with two lovely ladies."
Though his tone was smooth, it made Yvette uncomfortable. She stayed stone-faced and didn't reply.
Sylvia smiled cautiously. "We'll be leaving soon. Enjoy your drinks."
Just then, the drinks Albert and Victor ordered showed up.
As the waiter served the drinks, he almost blocked the view between Albert and Yvette. Yvette took the chance to sneak a look at Albert through the gap.
Albert looked up at her too.
When the waiter stepped back, their eyes met, both a bit startled.
Even a stranger could tell from that look—they had a thing for each other.
Albert and Victor had ordered a ton, filling the table. One of the three guys remarked, "With all these drinks, you're leaving?"
Yvette pressed her lips together. "They ordered these; we're not drinking them."
As Yvette reached for her bag to leave, she accidentally knocked over a glass of fruit wine. The liquid spilled, spreading across the table.
Albert quickly stood up and grabbed the glass, stopping it from completely spilling. But the wine had already flowed onto Yvette.
Sylvia was caught off guard by the spill. As she reached for the napkin box, she saw Albert already moving.
He grabbed some napkins and naturally started cleaning the wine off Yvette, who stood up and cooperated.
The two of them were lost in their own world,, while the others at the table watched with mixed expressions.
One of the guys teased, "Hey, is she your girlfriend? I thought you didn't know each other."
Feeling Yvette tense up, Albert shot the guy a cold look.
Albert opened his mouth, but before he could speak, Yvette had already answered, "No."
Her voice was gentle, not forceful, but to Albert, it felt like a slap.
The overhead light seemed to sense Albert's mood and gave a slight flicker.
Albert's demeanor darkened, and he responded coldly, "She's right. She's not my girlfriend."
