Chapter 426: What? Trying to Threaten Me with a Hunger Strike?

Yvette slowly opened her eyes, a mix of confusion and weakness clouding her gaze.

The room felt both strange and familiar. After a moment, she realized she was still in the estate.

She tried to lift her hand, but her arm felt weak and powerless, like all the strength had been drained from her muscles.

Her heart beat weakly, each thump like a mournful cry.

Albert had confined her again.

This time, he was truly angry.

Yvette lay helplessly on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

She couldn't go anywhere, so she had no choice but to sleep day and night.

Just then, she heard footsteps outside the door, and it opened. It was the maid Albert had arranged for her.

Yvette was startled. "Beatrice?"

It was Beatrice, who had taken care of her and the kids back home.

Beatrice looked at Yvette's pale face and dry lips with concern but said helplessly, "Mrs. Valdemar, I made some food, all your favorites. Please eat a little."

Beatrice placed the tray on the table beside her, her face full of concern as she tried to help Yvette sit up to eat.

But Yvette hadn't eaten since yesterday, and her body was extremely weak and limp.

Yvette asked, confused. "How did you get to Eldoria?"

"Mr. Valdemar arranged for Vincent to bring me here. He said you hadn't had an appetite since yesterday and specifically asked me to take care of your meals."

Yvette became anxious. "What about BoBo and CiCi's meals?"

"The Valdemar family has plenty of servants. Mr. Valdemar won't let the children suffer, don't worry."

Yvette took a deep breath and turned her head slightly. "I don't want to eat."

Beatrice sighed. "Mr. Valdemar has a stubborn temper. When he's angry, no one can persuade him. Please bear with it a little longer. Once his anger subsides, everything should be fine."

Yvette frowned but said nothing, still resisting.

Beatrice looked troubled. "Mrs. Valdemar..."

Even though she didn't say it, Yvette understood.

Since Albert had gone to great lengths to bring Beatrice here, it meant he had given her strict orders.

If Yvette continued to refuse to eat, Beatrice might also be implicated and punished.

Yvette lowered her gaze. "I'll eat. Just leave it there."

Beatrice was visibly moved. She nodded and left the room.

The next second, there was a click as the door was locked again.

Yvette paused, let out a bitter laugh, and slowly lay back down.

In a private room at a club in Eldoria.

Albert sat at the head of the table, a cigarette burning between his long fingers.

The red ember flickered, and a wisp of white smoke rose, surrounding him with the scent of tobacco.

The room was crowded, with people coming over to toast Albert.

He accepted all the toasts, making those who usually didn't have the chance to toast him feel secretly delighted.

Vincent returned from taking a work call to find Albert had already put out his cigarette and was leaning back on the sofa.

His eyes were downcast, making it unclear if they were open or closed.

Before Vincent could approach, he saw two women walking towards Albert in the dim light.

Both women wore short, strappy dresses and squeezed in beside Albert.

Sitting next to Albert was the estate owner's brother, Eden.

Eden noticed Albert with his eyes closed, raised an eyebrow, and deliberately got up to make room for the two women to sit on either side of Albert.

One woman poured him a drink while the other lit his cigarette, subtly brushing against his arm.

Seeing that Albert didn't seem to notice, one of the women became bolder. She leaned forward, causing one strap to slip down, her chest almost spilling out.

Eden watched with interest, but Vincent was alarmed.

Vincent hurried to intervene, but Albert opened his eyes first.

Albert immediately turned his head away, causing the two women to miss their mark.

The woman with the fallen strap tried to cling to him again but froze in place, sensing the cold, oppressive aura around Albert.

Albert's cold gaze swept over them, and then he looked at Vincent.

"Get rid of them."

"Yes, Mr. Valdemar!"

Vincent, sweating, quickly stepped in front of Albert and ushered the two women out.

Eden, who had been watching the scene, chuckled.

Albert looked up, warning him with a glance, "Did you do that on purpose?"

Eden shrugged, "I just wanted to see what you'd do."

"Sit back down," Albert said coldly. "Don't think I'll go easy on you just because you're Eric's brother."

Eden feigned innocence. "I didn't do anything."

"Don't think I don't know. You wanted to watch the show and use it as an excuse to get close to my wife."

Eden raised an eyebrow. "Fine, I didn't expect you to catch on."

For the rest of the night, no one dared approach Albert.

By the time it ended, it was already two or three in the morning.

Albert was a bit drunk. Vincent helped him back to the room, but he did not dare to turn on the light, afraid of disturbing Yvette's sleep.

But Albert didn't care and turned on the light.

The room, filled with the essence of alcohol, instantly lit up.

Yvette, who should have been asleep, was sitting on the edge of the bed, still wearing her slippers.

Vincent was stunned.

The room had been dark, yet she sat motionless on the bed.

Had she not moved all day?

As the smell of alcohol dissipated, the scent of food became noticeable.

Vincent looked back and saw several dishes on the table, enough for at least two or three meals.

Vincent spoke softly, "Mr. Valdemar..."

Albert's gaze also fell on the untouched food, but his mind was filled with today's events.

David had said he ruined the dress.

Yvette's colleague mentioned that when she played Jessica, she often had ambiguous marks on her body. She and David were very close, very much in love.

So, Yvette had been lying to him all along. She even deceived Sylvia into lying to him.

Albert's eyes turned red. "Leave us."

Vincent replied, "Yes, sir."

As the door closed softly behind Vincent, Yvette's muddled thoughts slowly cleared.

She turned her head, her eyes full of exhaustion.

As she turned, she saw Albert steadily approaching her.

Yvette's body tensed, and before she could react, Albert had already grabbed her, pressing her back against the hard headboard.

Albert's cold, harsh voice sounded in her ear. "What? Trying to threaten me with a hunger strike?"
