Chapter 73 From Now On, You Live at My House
Yvette held the examination report given by the doctor and sat at the entrance of the OB-GYN clinic for a long time.
She kept observing, watching the people coming and going at the entrance of the OB-GYN clinic.
There was no shortage of pregnant women in the clinic, each with a protruding belly and supporting their waists; some had smaller bellies but were already showing signs of pregnancy.
Expectant fathers coming out of the examination room touched their wives' pregnant bellies, happily communicating with their wives and the babies inside. This scene was touching, and Yvette subconsciously touched her flat stomach.
She felt a pang of reluctance and began to hesitate.
Did she really need to go this far to leave Albert?
Was the only way to break free from Albert truly to deny her child a chance to see the world?
Was the cost too great?
Just as Yvette was indecisive and repeatedly questioning herself, a familiar male voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Yvette?"
Yvette snapped back to reality and saw Wyatt. She immediately felt annoyed; she shouldn't have forgotten that he worked at this hospital.
Yvette stood up nervously, subconsciously clutching the examination report in her hand.
"Why are you at the obstetrics and gynecology clinic?"
Wyatt glanced up and down at Yvette and responded, "I came to consult with a colleague. Are you here for a prenatal checkup?"
Before Yvette could reply, her attending doctor came out of the clinic.
"Why haven't you left yet?" The doctor glanced at Yvette. "Think it over carefully and discuss it with your family. If you really want to have surgery, bring your husband along."
The doctor added, "You'd better decide quickly. If you delay any longer, it will only cause you more physical suffering."
After speaking, the doctor took the medical records from Wyatt and hurriedly turned away.
After his colleague left, Wyatt understood Yvette's purpose for seeing the doctor. He frowned and asked, "What are you trying to do, Yvette?"
Wyatt's tone was somewhat low, whether out of concern for Yvette's health or because he felt she was being too irresponsible in considering surgery so lightly.
Yvette felt a sense of shame from being exposed. She pursed her lips and said, "I came for a checkup."
Yvette's voice was soft and weak, clearly lacking confidence. She kept her head down, not daring to meet Wyatt's eyes.
Yvette's guilty demeanor confirmed Wyatt's suspicions.
He looked at Yvette with concern and said solemnly, "Go ahead and have the baby; I can be the child's father."
Hearing this, Yvette was stunned. She looked up at Wyatt in a daze, trying to hold back her emotions, but her eyes still reddened.
She opened her mouth, about to speak, when a cold voice cut between them.
"My child doesn't need someone else to be their father."
Each word was clear and forceful.
They both turned around to see Albert striding over to Yvette and pulling her into his arms, defiantly looking at Wyatt.
Before, Albert drove steadily on the road, maintaining the speed limit, which was considered slow by other drivers.
Cars behind him kept honking impatiently, but Albert maintained the same speed.
After hearing Sylvia's words at the clinic entrance, he immediately had a bad premonition.
He suspected inwardly, 'Maybe Yvette doesn't want this child anymore.'
When Albert drove to the hospital just now, he drove very fast, pressing hard on the gas pedal. He had to find Yvette quickly.
Weaving through the hospital crowd, Albert could feel his breathing quicken, his heart pounding, but he still couldn't find Yvette.
In his anxious search, he kept thinking about Yvette and the baby in her belly.
Numerous ideas ran through his mind, 'Is it a boy or a girl, and who will they resemble? Both of them are tall, so this child should be quite tall as well.'
Albert frowned, startled by his imagination.
It turned out he had expectations for this child.
With these expectations, he finally found Yvette, only to hear the doctor telling her to decide quickly whether to have surgery.
His heart sank.
'Yvette, she's really planning to give up the child.'
'Why would she give up the child?'
'With this child, she could demand a hefty sum from him; wasn't that her initial intention?'
But now, even before she had gotten her hands on the money, she was contemplating terminating the very pregnancy that could be her cash cow.
There was only one explanation that Albert could come up with — Yvette was trying to cut him loose.
This conclusion made his heart ache; just thinking about it was suffocating.
Yvette turned her head slightly. Albert beside her looked very angry, and his aura was extremely cold. She could even see the muscles in his jaw tensing.
Yvette asked softly, "Where are we going?"
"We're going home," Albert stated coldly.
Yvette frowned. "This isn't the way to my home."
Assuming he had forgotten where she lived, she gave him her address. ”You're going off track; this is where I live.“
"I'm not wrong; we're going to my home," Albert said.
Yvette was shocked and immediately panicked. "Why? Albert? What's wrong with you? I want to go home."
Although Yvette resisted for a long time, she was still forcibly taken home by Albert.
Albert directly pushed Yvette into the house.
Yvette sat quietly on the sofa, her expression calm, hands clasped on her lap, but her eyes showed rejection and dissatisfaction.
She said, "Can you give me a reason? Why did you bring me to your home?"
Yvette's voice was airy, as though she was merely posing this question out of pure curiosity.
Albert stood in front of Yvette, looking down at her with a stern face.
He asked in a deep voice, "Don't you know why I brought you back?"
He smirked coldly and asked, "Tell me, why did you go to the hospital today?"
When asked about this, Yvette's hands tightened as she tried to control her emotions and replied, "I went for a checkup."
"Really?" Albert sneered, "Actually, you wanted to kill my child, didn't you?"
Not giving Yvette a chance to refute, Albert ordered, "From now on, you're staying here until the baby is born."
"Why?" Yvette almost instinctively objected.
Sylvia's words flashed through her mind.
Sure enough, a man as proud as Albert couldn't tolerate his child being out of his control.
Even if he didn't love Yvette, he needed absolute possession and control, both over her and the unborn child.
Albert said, "You are my wife; of course, you must obey me."
Yvette angrily questioned Albert, "Why should I obey your words?"
"Why?" Albert's gaze was cold.
He gritted his teeth, each word seeming to be squeezed out from between them. "Because I am the child's father!"
