Chapter 65 Don't Go, Yvette

The bar was filled with smoke, and the VIP lounge was quite suggestive, making Steve extremely uncomfortable. He just wanted to get Albert out of there as soon as possible.

As expected, Albert did have a woman. Steve had heard that Albert and Violet from their department were dating, but after interacting with Albert for so long, it was clear that his odd behavior had nothing to do with Violet.

After Steve spoke to the other party on the phone, she hesitated for a moment but eventually agreed to come over.

Steve could have left, but he was too curious to see what kind of woman could make Albert lose his composure. He really wanted to meet her.

It didn't take long before a frail woman appeared in the hallway.

Steve was surprised to see that he knew the person—it was the female doctor from the company's medical evaluation center.

He couldn't help but exclaim, "Dr. Orlando?"

Yvette, feeling uneasy under his gaze, nodded slightly.

Steve said, "So it's you?"

Yvette asked, "What's wrong with you?"

Steve shook his head, "Nothing, nothing."

He handed over the room key card directly, "The room number is on it. You can go find him, and I'll be leaving now."

Yvette took the key card and politely thanked Steve, even though she seemed to have no standing to thank him on Albert's behalf.

Steve left the bar, still immersed in the excitement of discovering some gossip. Reflecting on Dr. Orlando, although she was low-key, everyone knew her.

Pilots and flight doctors interacted frequently, and with her good looks, she was naturally a topic among the men.

Albert had always been running to the medical evaluation center, and everyone had guessed about different people, but no one had suspected Dr. Orlando.

Although Albert was handsome and wealthy, and Dr. Orlando was beautiful and gentle, it was hard to imagine them together—they seemed so different.

Eager to share this major news, Steve quickly took out his phone and sent a message to the group: [Exclusive! I've found out who Albert's woman is! Guess who?]

Not long after, several replies appeared.

[The doctor from the medical evaluation center, Dr. Orlando.]

[Yvette.]

[That doctor named Yvette.]

Steve was stunned, and he asked: [How do you all know?]

A friend couldn't help but pity him: [You just found out?]

Then, some chat screenshots were sent to the group. Steve quickly scrolled through them, surprised to see so much had happened at the company during his few days of leave.

Steve: [But I still have a new discovery that you all don't know.]

Steve: [Albert likes Dr. Orlando.]

Everyone was indifferent, one of them replied: [He was caught kissing Violet. If he liked Dr. Orlando, he wouldn't have cheated on Violet. I say he definitely likes Violet more.]

Steve sent again: [He likes Dr. Orlando.]

Another person replied: [Violet. Definitely Violet. A man never forgets his first love.]

The discussion in the group grew more intense, and Steve was completely absorbed in the conversation.

Meanwhile, Yvette found the room with the key card, woke Albert up, and took him out of the bar.

Perhaps he had rested for a while; he wasn't completely drunk. Leaning on her, he could still walk, and once in the taxi, he could accurately give his home address.

This made Yvette feel relieved.

Both of them sat in the back seat, Albert's eyes quietly closed, his long black eyelashes casting faint shadows in his eye sockets.

The moonlight and streetlights rhythmically shone through the rear window, falling on Albert's delicate face, giving him a soft halo, making him look like a piece of art.

She hadn't intended to look after him, but his excessive drinking left him with no one else to call but her, causing her numb heart to flutter uncontrollably once again. She was truly hopeless.

Despite being intimate partners for two years, having a child together, and even being married for some time, it was, in fact, Yvette's first visit to Albert's home.

He lived in a high-end community in the east of the city, with large units and fine decoration. The unit price was among the top five in Luken. Yvette had only heard about this community from others before.

Holding Albert's hand, she unlocked the fingerprint lock and struggled to help him inside.

The interior decoration was so sophisticated that Yvette couldn't locate the light switch. She had to rely on the moonlight coming through the floor-to-ceiling windows to find the bedroom and put him to bed.

Finally able to rest, Yvette took a step back but accidentally bumped into the bedside table in Albert's bedroom.

A loud noise echoed in the quiet bedroom.

Startled, Yvette turned to find that it was just a picture frame that had fallen off the bedside table.

Without thinking much, she reached out to set the frame back up.

When the frame was upright again, Yvette realized that the picture in the frame by Albert's bedside was a photo of him and Violet embracing in front of a snowy mountain.

They wore matching jackets, with the pure snow mountain under a clear sky, their young faces with noses red from the cold, eyes full of happiness and contentment.

The sight stung her eyes.

Yvette's breath hitched, feeling as if all her strength had been drained. Struggling to suppress her disappointment and sadness, she forced back the urge to cry by looking up at the dark ceiling, willing the tears not to fall.

In the dark room, only Albert's breathing could be heard. He was asleep, still in his coat and shoes, looking uncomfortable.

Yvette felt miserable and didn't want to care for him anymore. She thought about their two-year relationship, now turned into marriage. Yet, the fact that he still kept Violet's photo by his bed made her heart ache to the point of suffocation.

She clenched her fists and could no longer stay in the room. She turned to leave.

Just then, she suddenly heard Albert's hoarse voice behind her, murmuring, "Don't go."

Yvette paused, biting her lip, muttering to herself, "Who are you asking not to go?"

After speaking, she felt foolish. She thought he must be dreaming, calling out to his lover—Violet.

Yvette despised herself for not giving up. Clenching her fists, she was about to move when she heard Albert's voice again.

"Yvette."

Hearing her name, she felt as if everything around her had frozen. She doubted her ears, but when she instinctively turned to look at him, she felt like nothing else mattered, only his hoarse voice echoing in her ears.

His eyes remained closed, but he furrowed his brows and murmured, "Don't go, Yvette."
