Chapter 127 Divorce Agreement
Yvette stared at Albert, blinking quietly.
Albert felt conflicted by her silence. He knew Yvette's odd behavior started after Violet showed up.
Trying to stay calm, he said, "In the two years with you, I had no contact with Violet. I genuinely wanted to move on."
Yvette smiled. "But now that she's back, haven't you had second thoughts?"
Albert shot back, "Why are you so quick to judge me?"
"Two years, over seven hundred days and nights, did you ever think about defining our relationship?" Yvette's eyes locked onto Albert's.
"I thought we were already together."
Albert's eyes flickered. He pulled out a necklace from his pocket and showed it to Yvette.
"When I realized I mistook someone else for you, I hated myself for forgetting you. Maybe Violet resembled the old you, or maybe it was my issue. I completely mistook her for you because of the necklace. Regardless, it was my mistake. I got the necklace back."
Yvette's eyes fell on the necklace. The building's sensor light made it sparkle.
She remembered the excitement when she first got the necklace, but now she felt disgusted.
"I don't want it."
"Why?" Albert was puzzled. This was the most important thing between them that had been stolen. He got it back, so why didn't she want it?
Yvette said coldly, "She wore it for so long, I find it dirty."
Albert's throat tightened. When she called the necklace dirty, she was also implying he was dirty.
He had happily bought her favorite food, wanting to tell her he finally realized she was the one he loved, but all he got in return was "dirty."
Albert sneered. "Isn't it a bit late for you to find me dirty now?"
"Albert, don't mess around."
Albert slowly exhaled, his once straight back slumping. He looked at her helplessly, "Then tell me, what should I do?"
He smelled faintly of alcohol, and his usually neat hair was messy.
Yvette felt a bit soft-hearted but bit her lower lip to stop herself from making the same mistake again.
"Albert, if you really liked me, you wouldn't have mistaken someone else for me in the first place. If you did, then just let it be. You can't just fix your feelings by being with someone else."
Albert opened his mouth but couldn't say a word, blocked by her soft yet firm words.
He swallowed hard, feeling a dry, unbearable sensation in his throat.
Albert's chest heaved. When he spoke again, his voice was hoarse.
"So, from the beginning, I had no right to correct my mistake?" Albert's jaw tightened, "Do you think separating will be better? Better for the unborn baby?"
Yvette touched her belly. She knew it wasn't good for the child to grow up without a father, but things had come to this, and she had no other choice.
"At least we'll have peace of mind."
Albert's eyes darkened. "Yvette, unless we don't have a child, you won't have peace of mind."
North Airlines Airport.
Albert adjusted his uniform in front of the mirror. Steve, nearby, kept glancing at him before finally speaking up.
"Mr. Valdemar, rough night? You don't look good."
Albert shot a sharp look at Steve, who quickly looked away and mumbled, "I'm just concerned about flight safety. No gossip intended."
Albert fastened his cufflinks. "Mind your own business."
Just then, there was a knock on the locker room door. "Mr. Valdemar, the president wants you in the conference room."
Albert paused, his expression darkening. "Got it."
He pushed open the door to the small conference room where James was already seated.
James nodded as Albert entered. "Sit down, we need to talk."
Albert strode over, looking down at him. "No need. Why are you here?"
James, used to Albert's attitude, didn't get angry. "I warned you before, I don't approve of your marriage to that woman."
"What can you do about it?"
"Get a divorce."
Albert wasn't surprised. He sneered. "Not happening."
James slammed the table. "If you don't get a divorce, you're off the heir list. You know even 0.1% of Grandpa's inheritance is more than you'd make here for a lifetime."
"So what?" Albert's tone was disdainful. "I said I won't divorce her."
James glared at Albert, but Albert showed no fear.
After a while, James leaned back, tired of glaring. "You don't have to divorce. Just sign this document, giving up your inheritance, and I'll leave you and that woman alone."
Albert didn't hesitate. "Deal."
David looked up from his paperwork, sighing deeply. He always envied Albert for being able to do what he loved freely.
The intercom on his desk rang. "Sir, James Valdemar is here."
Before the call ended, James had already walked in.
David hung up the phone and stood. "Dad."
James tossed a document onto David's desk. "Take this to that woman and have her sign it."
"What is this?"
David opened the document and was stunned. It was a Divorce Agreement.
It seemed the "woman" James referred to was Yvette. He had indeed taken action, forcing Yvette to divorce Albert.
David frowned, quickly flipping to the last page, where Albert's bold signature was already there.
Albert's handwriting, like him, was unrestrained, making David frown even more.
David looked up, incredulous. "Did Albert sign this?"
James glanced at him and coldly retorted, "Look at the handwriting. Do you think I faked it?"
