Chapter 342 Either She Comes with Me, or She’s Gone

Breathing with a sting, David felt like he was in the deep sea, struggling in vain without causing any ripples.

In his dream, it seemed someone had taken something precious from him. A blood-dripping hand reached into his chest and precisely crushed his heart.

Waking up instantly, David struggled to sit up. His pale face twisted in pain, sweat beading on his forehead and dripping down his defined features. Every breath was sheer torment.

When his thoughts fully returned to his mind, David looked at the white walls of the ward and wiped the sweat off his face with a trembling hand.

A knock on the door sounded, and David's voice was hoarse. "Come in."

Tyler Thompson walked in, David's newly promoted confidant.

Seeing David's pale face and sweat-drenched body, Tyler quickly handed him a tissue. "Mr. Valdemar, are you alright?"

"Yeah." David said casually, "Speak, what's the matter."

Tyler said, "You need to rest more and not overthink. If your indicators don't meet the standards, we can't schedule the surgery."

David frowned. "I told you to get straight to the point."

Tyler's eyes flickered. "You asked me to keep an eye on Virgil. His family has taken the money and left, but Virgil is missing. Our people have searched everywhere but found no information."

"What does that mean?" David looked up at him, his narrow eyes shooting a sharp gaze. "Why is he missing?"

Tyler reported, "He might have been sent out of the country, but our people were watching closely, so it's almost impossible. Another possibility is that he died from his injuries last time due to delayed treatment."

Hearing this, David's perpetually gloomy face finally eased a bit.

David pressed his pale lips together. "So, he can never appear in front of Yvette again."

Tyler answered, "Most likely, yes."

"Then make sure there are no accidents." David's cold eyes swept over Tyler's face. "I don't want to hear any news about him meeting Yvette again, no matter what method you use. Even if he comes back to life, you have to find a way to deal with it."

Tyler said, "Understood, Mr. Valdemar."

David waved his hand, signaling him to leave.

Tyler nodded but didn't move, looking at him hesitantly. "Mr. Valdemar."

At this moment, David was already feeling a faint numbness in his lower limbs, his emotions becoming unstable.

Knowing that the unbearable numbness in his lower limbs indicated there was still a chance for treatment, each episode was still excruciatingly painful.

He made a hoarse, short sound from his throat. "Speak."

Tyler asked, "Why are you so obsessed with this woman? With your status and position, what kind of woman can't you have? As long as..."

Before he could finish, a delicate ceramic cup smashed to the ground, shattering into pieces as sharp shards bounced up, cutting Tyler's hand and causing blood to ooze out.

David's face turned red, the veins on his neck bulging, his blood boiling, and he shouted in a breakdown, "She's the only woman in this world who has ever rejected me! I don't allow such an existence! All these years, her heart has been full of Albert, never putting me in her eyes. I can't accept that!"

David's jaw tightened, and he said through gritted teeth, "Either she stays with me, or she's gone."

At the Valdemar Mansion, Cheryl sat on the sofa, exuding a commanding presence with every gesture. The Valdemar family suddenly remembered she wasn't just an ordinary old woman but a powerful business figure and their decision-maker for decades. No one dared to make a sound; they all stood by, shoulders hunched, waiting.

At this moment, Albert walked in from outside, his back straight, and sat directly next to Cheryl.

There was no sense of being overwhelmed by Cheryl's presence.

Cheryl and Albert's strong auras intimidated everyone.

Cheryl waved her hand. "Everyone, leave."

"Yes, Mrs. Valdemar."

Cheryl's words were like a decree, making everyone breathe a sigh of relief and quickly leave the tense scene.

After the servants had all left, Cheryl still pressed her lips together without speaking.

Albert naturally knew what Cheryl wanted to say to him. He slowly adjusted his collar. "You went to Yvette's place so late just to catch me?"

"What do you think?" Cheryl raised her voice, her tone filled with undisguised dissatisfaction. "Do you realize how inappropriate your behavior is?"

"Grandma, you keep saying these things, and I have to keep refuting them," Albert's tone deepened. "If you're trying to persuade me to give up on Yvette, then I think you don't need to waste your breath."

"You've been willful since you were a child, and I've always let you be, but this time, I absolutely won't go along with you," Cheryl said sternly. "I like Yvette very much, and I've always supported you in finding her, but she's no longer suitable to be the Valdemar family's daughter-in-law. She's been wavering between you and David, and you two are like playing a wife-swapping game. It's not just a matter of face; it's ethically filthy!"

"She hasn't been wavering." Albert's eyes flickered, his gaze instantly turning cold. "David deceived her during her amnesia. If there's an ethical issue, it's only with David. Yvette and I have always been husband and wife."

"No matter who's at fault, it's come to this point, and Yvette only wants to be David's wife now. Maintaining the status quo is the best choice!" Cheryl was anxious. "Why are you so stubborn? Albert, you're the head of the Valdemar family. When I'm gone, you'll be the true successor. Your relatives are watching you like hawks. This kind of stain can ruin you, do you understand? I'm protecting you, David, Yvette, and the kids!"

Albert calmly looked at Cheryl. No matter how agitated or anxious she was, it didn't stir any waves in his eyes.

After Cheryl finished speaking, Albert lightly asked, "Are you done?"

Cheryl was stunned, the anger in her eyes growing.

Albert said, "Since you're finished, let me speak. No matter what danger there is, as long as I'm here, I'll protect her. That's my duty as a husband. We can't continue this unclear situation. I'm already preparing a banquet, which should be held soon. I'll tell everyone at the banquet that I've found my wife, Yvette. She won't be embarrassed anymore; she should be herself again!"
