Chapter 111 Afraid Albert Might Remember

Violet had been on flight missions for days and hadn't had a chance to go home.

She figured her parents would be thrilled to see her since it had been a while. But when she walked in, she was met with two angry faces.

Surprised, Violet asked, "What's up with you two? You look upset. Aren't you happy to see me?"

Mr. Swift gave her a stern look. "I had lunch with Mr. Anderson today."

"Uncle Anderson?" Violet was confused. "It's just lunch. Why are you so mad?"

Mr. Swift frowned. "I heard from Mr. Anderson that Albert got married without even telling James. James was furious when he found out."

Hearing Albert's name, Violet was stunned. "His dad didn't know he married Yvette?"

Mrs. Swift looked disdainful. "He didn't even tell his dad about his wedding. Even if their relationship isn't great, he should've at least informed him, right?"

"If it weren't for his brother-in-law being in the hospital where Mr. Anderson works, no one would have known."

Mrs. Swift was surprised. "His wife has a brother? And he's in the hospital?"

"Yeah, with a serious heart attack," Mr. Swift shook his head. "We watched Albert grow up and thought he had good judgment. Who knew he'd marry such an unreasonable woman? When they couldn't get a room in the cardiovascular department, they made a huge scene in the emergency room. No manners at all!"

"But wasn't it Albert who arranged for his brother-in-law's hospital room through Mr. Anderson?"

"Yeah, Albert asked for his help, saying it was his wife's brother. Of course, Mr. Anderson had to help. And I heard her family doesn't have much money. Albert covered all the hospital expenses."

Mr. Swift then glared at Violet. "Look at the man you're still thinking about! He got married without his dad knowing, and his wife’s family is poor. His judgment is getting worse and worse!"

"Dad..." Violet tried to explain but was cut off.

"Such a man doesn't deserve you. Even if he's single again, he's still a divorced man with a child. Don't waste your time on him."

The more Mr. Swift thought about it, the angrier he got. He slapped his thigh and said, "Last time, the eldest son of the Grant family said he liked you and asked me to arrange a meeting. I turned him down because you weren't in a good state. I'll contact him again right away. You should meet him. The eldest son of the Luminous Group is no worse than a son who doesn't return to the Valdemar family!"

"Dad!" Violet straightened up. "It's bad enough you're discussing other people's family backgrounds. Now you want to find me a partner on family background? Do you really want to push your daughter into a business marriage as a trade? I just want to be with the person I love. What does it matter if he's rich, married, or has children?"

"Violet, do you even know what you're saying?"

"I know," Violet said defiantly. "But I love Albert. When he figures things out, he'll come back to me."

With that, Violet stormed into her bedroom, slamming the door to drown out her parents' nagging.

From home to the hospital, the route was always the same. In the bright sunlight, Yvette sat in a taxi, retracing last night's path, and suddenly remembered Albert's unique scent in the enclosed car.

The resolve she had to leave him last night vanished the moment she lay down. She was too exhausted, falling into a deep sleep without a second thought.

Carrying lunch to the hospital, Yvette handed it to Lassie and Zora. "I'm going out for a while."

Lassie warned, "Hospitals are full of germs. Don't wander around."

Yvette pursed her lips. "Because Mr. Anderson helped us get Wayne admitted, I need to buy some dessert to thank him."

"Alright, go ahead. You should thank him properly."

Yvette carefully selected some dessert nearby and walked towards Mr. Anderson's office.

At the door of Mr. Anderson's office, Yvette felt a bit nervous. Just as she was about to knock, the door opened from the inside.

Yvette looked up and met Violet's gaze.

Both were stunned, their eyes wide with surprise.

Yvette, holding the dessert, felt awkward and instinctively averted her gaze, turning to leave.

Behind her, Violet's voice called out, "Yvette, can we talk?"

Yvette paused, gripping the bag tightly. "What do you want to say?"

"Do you know that Wayne was able to get admitted because Albert asked the dean for help?"

Violet, in high heels, stood tall and proud in front of Yvette. In contrast, Yvette, due to her pregnancy and taking care of Wayne, looked exhausted.

Yvette pursed her lips, lowered her eyes, and tried to hide her self-mockery.

She nodded, looking calm. "Of course I know. Isn't it natural for my husband to help me solve problems?"

Violet's expression darkened. "You take it for granted?"

"Mutual support between husband and wife is natural. Otherwise, why would I marry him?"

Yvette looked at Violet, surprised she could borrow Lassie's words.

"Yvette!" Violet was clearly angered by Yvette's smugness. "Do you know he never used to ask for anything? He always hated it. You're dragging him down, don't you get it?"

Yvette blinked and shrugged indifferently.

"Really? But he used to like getting help."

Violet was stunned, her high emotions instantly subdued. She looked at Yvette defensively and asked, "What do you mean?"

"I'm just saying, he used to like getting help. If you don't believe me, you can ask him how many times he asked me for help when he lived in the countryside."

Violet's straight back slowly hunched. She looked at Yvette in disbelief. "What do you mean?!"

Yvette lifted her eyes slightly, her gaze cold. She no longer probed but spoke directly. "Actually, you're afraid Albert will remember, aren't you?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Don't you want to know what happened between Albert and me that summer?"

Violet's face turned pale, and the arrogant smile on her lips disappeared. She turned her head slightly, avoiding Yvette's direct gaze. "What do you want?"

At that moment, a tall, slender figure stood at the corner of the hallway, backlit, making it impossible to see his expression.
