Chapter 400 Venting the Drug's Effect

A force pulled Yvette into a scorching embrace, pinning her against the door before she could react.

Her back was against the cold door, and in front of her was Albert's burning body. The extreme temperature difference made Yvette tense up.

She asked, "What are you doing?"

"I gave you a chance." Albert's voice was low and rich, with a unique hoarseness and graininess that made people unconsciously intoxicated.

It was only then that Yvette smelled a faint scent of alcohol on Albert. She frowned. "Did you drink?"

The room was dark, with only the light from the bathroom that Albert had forgotten to turn off, casting a dim glow.

In this ambiguous light, Albert's deep eyes were terrifyingly bright, like a lone wolf hunting.

Albert lowered his head. "Now you're scared?"

Albert's hot breath sprayed on Yvette's forehead, making the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.

She turned her head slightly, not saying a word.

Yvette smelled the essence of the alcohol on him, but with his tolerance, he wouldn't be out of control from just a little drink.

As long as he was still rational, she wasn't that scared.

Yvette asked, "You drank, can you still understand what I'm saying?"

Albert bent down to her level, staring into her eyes, "Speak."

They were so close that Yvette only had to lift her head slightly to touch his lips.

Looking into Albert's eyes, Yvette noticed they were bloodshot, filled with intense emotions, and his breath was irresistibly hot.

Yvette frowned slightly, raising her hand to push him. "Are you drunk? Can you talk properly?"

Albert raised an eyebrow. "You think this isn't talking properly?"

Wrapping his strong arm around Yvette's waist, Albert lifted her with one hand. Panicking, she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck before being thrown onto the bed.

Yvette closed her eyes in fear, only daring to open them when she felt the soft bed beneath her.

In front of her was Albert's half-smiling face. He had already leaned over her without her noticing. "How about this? Is this talking properly?"

Yvette said, "Of course not! Let go!"

It was then that Yvette realized something was wrong with Albert. With his tolerance, he couldn't be this affected by just a little drink. His eyes looked like they were going to devour her.

"Let go?" Albert chuckled. "I told you, it's too late."

Albert pressed against her, his hot hands touching her through her clothes.

Through the fabric, Yvette felt his slightly sweaty palms, the heat making her heart race.

Sensing Yvette's tension, Albert's lips curled into a smile. "I've given you many chances, but you insisted on coming in."

"I-I just wanted to ask you... to let me out!" Feeling Albert starting to lose control, Yvette's words became incoherent.

The effects of the drug hadn't completely worn off, only suppressed by Albert's cold shower and a few glasses of ice water.

The remaining rationality was destroyed by Yvette's persistent knocking.

Her post-shower scent stimulated him again, bringing back the drug's effects he had tried so hard to suppress.

Yvette raised her hand to push him. "Albert, calm down. Don't use the excuse of drinking to act crazy!"

"Who said I only drank?" Albert lowered his head, taking a deep breath by her neck. "I was drugged."

Hearing this, Yvette felt her whole body tense up, looking at Albert in horror. "What?"

"I said, I was drugged." Watching his lips move, Albert finally abandoned the last bit of rationality and kissed her.

Yvette struggled in fear, biting down hard. But the drug didn't seem to affect Albert's sensitivity; he dodged her bite.

Taking advantage of his momentary dodge, Yvette trembled as she asked, "Albert, you're not using me to relieve the drug's effects, are you?"

Albert paused, raising an eyebrow. "You knocked on my locked door."

Yvette was furious at his audacity. "I told you, I wanted to talk. You can't keep me locked up! Albert, even if I'm Yvette, your wife, I'm not your tool for relieving desires!"

Yvette's angry words were silenced by his kiss.

The drug effects that had been suppressed in Albert's body surged, finding an outlet.

Yvette's pleas for him to stop imprisoning her were ultimately shattered.

Albert's phone vibrated weakly on the floor, its screen lighting up briefly before going dark and turning off.

The night was deep, and it started to rain lightly outside.

Albert was awakened by the sound of rain. Using the moonlight, he looked at Yvette's sleeping profile, his expression stern.

He got out of bed, picked up his phone, and left the room.

Standing on the balcony, Albert looked out at the dark night and returned the call.

Vincent, on the other end, hadn't slept and quickly answered, "Mr. Valdemar, are you alright?"

Vincent's voice was filled with concern, probably worried about the strong drug in Albert's system.

"Yes." Albert's eyes were cold, thinking of Yvette's recent words, his expression darkening. "What's the situation over there?"

Vincent replied, "The evidence chain is enough to send him to prison. The woman he arranged has been 'turned' and can testify that he drugged and assaulted her. Now, not only do we have the upper hand in the cooperation, but we can also make him concede a lot."

Vincent's voice sounded excited, but Albert only sneered. "We don't need to hold onto the evidence. We can forgo the cooperation."

Vincent was stunned. "You mean, sell it to the media?"

"No, release it." Albert smirked. "Make it as impactful as possible."

Vincent was puzzled. "But Mr. Valdemar, you've been negotiating this cooperation for a long time."

"He never intended to cooperate from the start. I knew that." Albert's tone was calm. "Listen to me, release it. Only then can we find out who's behind him."

Vincent suddenly understood. "Got it, Mr. Valdemar, you always think ahead!"

Albert answered, "Yes."

Albert was about to hang up when Vincent spoke again, "Mr. Valdemar, there's one more thing."

Albert said, "Speak."

Vincent replied, "There's been progress regarding your mother."

Albert's cold eyes narrowed. "Have you found Micah?"

Vincent said, "No, but someone witnessed the last person to enter your mother's room before she died..."
