Chapter 202 Preparing to Move to the Valdemar Villa

At this moment, someone else came down from upstairs. Yvette looked up and saw it was Lisa.

Even at home, Lisa was still wearing a light blue dress, showing off her graceful figure as she elegantly descended the stairs. Seeing Yvette, a flash of surprise crossed Lisa's eyes, but she quickly hid it well.

"Yvette is here," Lisa said and smiled gently. "James, why didn't you tell me? I could have asked the housekeeper to prepare some delicious food and had Yvette stay for dinner!"

"No need." Yvette quietly put away the marriage certificate and stood up. "Since everything is clear now, I'll be leaving."

James leaned back on the sofa, nodding with satisfaction. "Alright, call me if you need anything."

Watching Yvette's cold figure fade away, Lisa's expression finally showed a hint of tension. She turned to James and said, "James, why did you call her here?"

James smiled, looking quite pleased. "I always thought Albert was smart, but it turns out he's a fool. With his wealth, he married a woman from an ordinary background like Yvette and didn't even think to sign a prenuptial agreement."

Lisa raised her eyebrows in surprise. "They didn't sign it?!"

"Yes, Albert's behavior, as they say nowadays, was all about romance." James snapped his fingers.

Lisa immediately understood and tentatively asked James, "So why did she come to see you today?"

James replied, "She said her mother is sick and asked me to pay for her treatment."

Lisa was puzzled. "How did she find you? Albert didn't want to pay?"

"Of course not. They hate each other. Why would Yvette go to him?" James shook his head. "She's clearly desperate and had no choice but to come to me. I just took the opportunity to do her a favor."

Lisa asked, "She already agreed to the divorce. Why are you paying for this?"

"She planned to use the threat of not divorcing to blackmail me, but I no longer need them to divorce. Hayden is dead, and the property is already in his hands," James said casually, "I'm paying her to not divorce and to have a child with Albert."

Lisa was stunned. "You approve of her becoming Albert's wife?"

"How could I?" James said disdainfully. "Now that Albert has such a large share of the stock, he might use this opportunity to come back to the Valdemar family and claim the property. He hates us and would never let us share this wealth. But Yvette is different. She needs me. If I control her and the child, it would be like controlling the heir of the Valdemar family."

Lisa finally understood and playfully punched James's shoulder. "You should have told me earlier. I thought something big was going to happen."

"They didn't sign a prenuptial agreement. The property Hayden left to Albert, Yvette can take half. With such a high cost of divorce, how could Albert choose to divorce?" James smiled. "Once the child is born and raised in the Valdemar family, let's see how he can fight us."

Lassie sat in her wheelchair, the sunlight on the balcony was so bright that she could hardly open her eyes. She heard the sound of the door opening behind her and turned around to see Yvette coming back.

Lassie immediately leaned back in her wheelchair and called out, "Yvette, you are back!"

Yvette responded casually, changing her shoes as she entered. Yvette held her bag under her arm and was about to go to her room when Lassie called her.

Lassie maneuvered her wheelchair to face Yvette and asked suspiciously, "Why do you look so down? I already said I don't want treatment. Why are you still so stressed?"

Yvette furrowed her brows. "I've found a way. Don't worry, your illness can be treated."

Lassie's eyes lit up. "Really? Did you go to Albert?"

Yvette frowned at Lassie. Lassie realized her reaction was too unusual and had aroused Yvette's suspicion. She quickly cleared her throat and explained, "Does he know any doctors? You should ask. If it's really expensive, we shouldn't go through with it. There's no need to go into debt."

"Don't worry." Yvette took a deep breath. "I'll handle this. " With that, Yvette stopped looking at Lassie's expression and turned to go to her room.

Lassie wanted to go in but didn't dare. She could only sit in her wheelchair, listening to the sounds coming from Yvette's room. Curious, she moved her wheelchair to the door and pressed her ear against it to listen.

Inside the room, Yvette put down her bag and opened the wardrobe. She and James had agreed that once she packed her things, he would arrange for a driver to come and take her luggage.

Since she was moving to the Valdemar Villa, the sooner, the better. The sooner she moved to the Valdemar Villa, the sooner James would give her the money, and she could arrange for Lassie's treatment as soon as possible.

Yvette packed her clothes and then stood in front of the bookshelf. From the deepest part of the cabinet, Yvette found her diary.

This yellowed diary had always been with her. Whether she was living in a college dormitory or a hospital dormitory after graduation, she always had it with her. But this time, she didn't dare to bring it.

These unspoken feelings, if discovered in such a relationship, would only make Albert look down on her. Yvette didn't want to see disdain and disgust in Albert's eyes anymore. Yvette took a deep breath and finally pushed the diary to the back of the drawer, burying all her emotions deep within her heart.

After packing her luggage, Yvette carried a large suitcase out of the room. As soon as she opened the door, she almost bumped into Lassie.

Both of them were startled. Lassie looked at her in confusion. "What are you doing? Running away from home?"

"No." Yvette furrowed her brows. "Mom, I'm moving out."

Lassie immediately panicked, afraid that Yvette felt too much pressure and didn't want to take care of her. "Isn't that running away from home? Where are you going? It's not safe for you to be out there alone. Besides, I'm sick now, and Zora has to work..."

"Mom," Yvette interrupted Lassie helplessly. "I'm hiring a caregiver to take care of you." Yvette pursed her lips and went on, "I'm moving to the Valdemar Villa. Albert and I are not getting a divorce."
