Chapter 397 Planning to Detain Her?

The unhappy breakup with Albert gave Yvette some breathing space.

After their argument last night, Albert slammed the door and left, never returning.

Replaying his last words in her mind, Yvette still couldn't understand what he meant. Her confusion was resolved when she went out in the afternoon.

In the afternoon, as she was about to go out to pick up the two children, she opened the door and was suddenly blocked by two black-clad bodyguards standing outside.

Yvette was stunned but instantly understood.

Albert had said that he had been too good to her and had given her too much freedom.

So now he was going to take back the freedom he had given her.

Yvette tugged at the corner of her mouth, raised a self-deprecating smile, and turned back to the living room.

As soon as she turned around, the two maids who were taking care of BoBo and CiCi at home came out of the room, already dressed.

Seeing Yvette, they looked a bit embarrassed. "Mrs. Valdemar, we will go pick up the children from now on."

It seemed that the maids had already received orders from Albert.

Nodding numbly, Yvette had no intention of resisting, knowing these people wouldn't defy Albert's orders. She returned to her room, took out her phone, and called Albert.

During breakfast in the morning, Yvette had promised the children that she would pick them up after school in the afternoon.

Yvette didn't want to break her promise to them.

No matter how many times Yvette called, there was only a busy tone on the other end; Albert simply wouldn't answer her calls.

At the hospital, Doyle reviewed all of Albert's re-examination results and breathed a sigh of relief.

He turned the computer screen towards Albert and pointed it out to him. "Albert, how did you recover so quickly?"

"Good health," Albert replied in a flat, concise tone.

"Indeed, your physical condition is enviable," Doyle said, clicking his tongue. "With a bit more rest, you'll be back on your feet in no time."

"Yep," Albert responded coldly. "Is everything checked?"

"Almost," Doyle said, carefully reviewing the scans again to avoid any errors. "But why didn't Yvette accompany you for the re-examination today?"

A shadow crossed Albert's expressionless face, and he frowned slightly without saying a word.

Doyle made a hissing sound and looked at Albert with interest. "I've put in so much effort to help you win your wife back, but the results aren't great."

"And you have the nerve to say that?" Albert shot Doyle a sidelong glance.

"Oh? What's the situation? Did you have a fight over this? Haven't made up yet?" Doyle laughed. "You can handle any project, but one woman gives you so much trouble! Don't make me look down on you, Albert!"

Albert replied in a deep voice, "It's not about that."

Doyle raised an eyebrow. "From the looks of it, it doesn't seem like she's mad at you. Are you the one who's angry?"

Albert lifted his eyelids slightly, not saying a word, which was as good as an admission.

Doyle said, "What are you angry about this time? I've seen how well she took care of you and worried about you while you were in the hospital. I don't believe she didn't offer to come with you for the re-examination!"

Albert paused. "I didn't tell her I was coming for a re-examination, nor did I let her come with me."

After saying that, Albert glanced at his watch and slowly stood up. "I have a meeting at the company, I need to go."

"Alright," Doyle suddenly looked up. "By the way, she asked me some medical questions last time. I found some information on it. Have her come over when she has time, and I'll explain it to her."

Albert paused at the office door and said meaningfully, "I'll pick you up after work, and you can explain it to her at my house."

"Huh?" Doyle was stunned.

Albert explained, "She can't go out."

Doyle blinked in confusion, and when he realized what Albert meant, his face changed dramatically. "Fuck, Albert, are you planning to put her under house arrest?"

Albert, with his back to Doyle, replied, "Yep."

Doyle said, "Fuck! Is this how you chase after someone, Albert?"

Vincent received a call while he was in a meeting with Albert and the shareholders.

Sitting next to Albert, Vincent instinctively glanced at him when his phone screen lit up with "Mrs. Valdemar." Albert noticed and frowned slightly, seemingly displeased.

Vincent felt a bit awkward. Yvette rarely called him, but every time she did, it was something important.

With a sense of foreboding, Vincent glanced at Albert's phone, which had just received a text message. He saw that there were already three missed calls from Yvette.

Vincent felt a chill down his spine, and his hair stood on end.

He looked at Albert nervously, and Albert just gestured towards the conference room door with his chin. Vincent quickly picked up his phone and left the room.

No matter what Yvette wanted, with Albert's permission, at least his life was safe.

Vincent went to the hallway and answered the call, "Mrs. Valdemar."

"Where's Albert?" Yvette's cold voice came from the other end of the line. "I need to talk to him, but he's not answering my calls."

Vincent replied, "Mr. Valdemar is in a meeting with the shareholders. I will inform him of your call."

He would definitely inform Albert, but whether Albert would return the call was beyond his control. Vincent didn't dare to say this out loud.

Yvette said, "I can't wait for him to finish the meeting. I need to pick up the children. Tell Albert to call the bodyguards and let them allow me to go out."

Vincent was taken aback. "This..."

Sensing his hesitation, Yvette raised her voice. "Go tell Albert now. I can let the bodyguards follow me and keep track of my whereabouts. I promised the children I would pick them up from kindergarten this afternoon!"

Hearing the urgency in Yvette's voice, Vincent knew she was anxious.

Vincent immediately reassured her. "Alright, don't worry. I'll go find Mr. Valdemar now and get back to you."

Vincent quietly returned to the conference room and whispered in Albert's ear, "Mr. Valdemar, Mrs. Valdemar said she needs to pick up the children and asked you to let her go."

Albert glanced at Vincent, expressionless, and waved his hand to indicate no. Vincent, feeling troubled, pointed to his phone, showing he was still on the call with Yvette. Albert gestured for Vincent to hand over the phone, and Vincent, relieved, did so.

To his surprise, Albert touched the hang-up icon as soon as he got the phone.

Hung up?

Vincent was dumbfounded.
