Chapter 92 The Inscription on the Necklace

Yvette checked Albert's flight schedule. He'd be very busy soon and probably wouldn't reach out. That was fine by her.

When it was time to leave work, she glanced at her phone. It was still early. A few days ago, the alumni association had sent out an invitation for alumni to come back to school to pick up a new yearbook.

The bus window wasn't fully closed, and a breeze slipped through the gap, tickling Yvette's neck. It felt just like the old school days.

Her phone rang, and she absentmindedly looked at the screen. It was Albert. If she'd gotten his call back in school, she would've been too excited to sleep for days.

Yvette answered the call. It was their first contact since their last awkward encounter.

"Where are you?" Albert asked.

"On my way to school," Yvette replied, keeping it short. Even someone as low-key as her got the invitation, so Albert must've known about the yearbook too.

Sure enough, Albert responded lightly, "I'm about to take off, can't make it."

"Okay," Yvette said instinctively, "Safe flight."

Yvette's tone was distant, and Albert paused for a couple of seconds, "Take care on the road."

"Okay."

After graduation, the school had gone through several renovations, and Yvette barely recognized it. But she still remembered the way.

Yvette walked with her head slightly down, passing by groups of people who had already gotten their yearbooks. They seemed to be planning a get-together or maybe a class reunion.

Yvette didn't run into any classmates and wasn't interested in doing so. She headed straight to classroom #306 to get her yearbook.

Yvette, who hadn't seen any familiar faces since entering the school, suddenly heard a familiar voice.

Violet's voice came from inside the classroom, stopping Yvette in her tracks.

"Teacher, I didn't expect you to remember me."

Yvette looked up and saw Violet with her back to her.

"Of course, I remember you. You were always with Albert; it was hard not to remember." The teacher laughed, "You two were inseparable. Our office even discussed whether you were dating."

Violet covered her mouth and smiled without saying anything.

The teacher continued, "Later, I heard you two were always together. Seems our suspicions were right!"

Violet pushed her long hair aside and was about to speak when she noticed Yvette standing at the door.

Violet turned around, and their eyes met, with a hint of challenge in the air.

Yvette lowered her gaze and walked in, pretending to line up to collect the yearbook.

The teacher, lost in reminiscing, continued talking while flipping through the yearbooks.

"When I talked to you two, Albert really stood up for you." The teacher pulled out two yearbooks and handed them to Violet, "Albert said he couldn't come because of work. Since you're here, you can take his as well."

Violet hadn't intended to explain, but seeing Yvette behind her, she looked back at Yvette meaningfully and said to the teacher, "Teacher, Albert and I broke up a while ago. Now, there's someone more suitable to take his yearbook."

The teacher was taken aback, a hint of awkwardness crossing her face. "What's going on?"

Violet bit her lip, her eyes downcast. "Albert is married now."

Yvette caught the sadness in Violet's smile. She had no interest in listening to her husband's ex-girlfriend's reminiscing and interrupted their conversation without expression.

"Hello, teacher, I'm Yvette. Could you please find my yearbook?"

The teacher nodded and handed her a yearbook. "Okay, Yvette, right?"

Without hesitation, Yvette took her yearbook and quickly left the classroom, leaving the teacher and Violet to continue reminiscing about her and Albert's relationship.

Yvette had just taken a few steps when she heard Violet calling her from behind.

"Yvette! Wait a minute!"

Yvette paused, frowning slightly, and turned around, confused.

Did Violet have something to say to her?

Violet jogged up to Yvette, holding two yearbooks, and raised them in front of her.

"Albert's yearbook. Since you two are married, you should take it for him."

Yvette frowned, silently looking at Violet without saying a word or reaching out to take it.

They stood face to face, and Violet, looking at the woman who now married Albert, couldn't hold back anymore.

"You don't even dare to admit you're married to Albert. Always so timid, you'll never be good enough for him." Violet's eyes scanned Yvette up and down, and she sneered with disdain. "You're just trying to get pregnant by him. What happens after you have the baby?"

Yvette shrugged expressionlessly and said, "After I have the baby, I'll be the mother of Albert's child. I have a legitimate status. I can do whatever I want. I want to ask you, Ms. Swift, don't you feel embarrassed pursuing Albert without standing?"

With that, Yvette sneered and turned to leave.

Watching Yvette's departing figure, Violet bit her lip. Yvette's words had indeed angered her. But it also made her more certain that Yvette didn't love Albert; she must have other motives, using the child as leverage to become Albert's wife.

Yvette didn't love Albert as much as she did, so why should she give up?

Only she could make Albert happy.

Violet couldn't wait to ask Victor to help her repair her necklace. She believed that once the necklace was repaired, her relationship with Albert would eventually be restored.

Violet handed the broken necklace to the jewelry store owner and said nervously, "Please be careful with this. It's very important to me."

The owner nodded, putting on glasses to examine the necklace.

"Repairingg it will damage the engraving. How about we just erase the engraving and re-engrave it after the repair?"

Hearing this, Violet was stunned. "Engraving?"

Since Albert put the necklace on her, she had never taken it off and didn't know it had an engraving.

Violet's heart tightened, and just as she was about to speak, the owner said, "There are two letters on it. Let me see, it looks like Y, O."
