Chapter 560 Violet's Scheme

In the cramped rental apartment, Violet huddled alone behind a tightly locked door, heavy curtains drawn against any hint of daylight. The room lay shrouded in gloom, illuminated only by the weak glow of a single desk lamp.

She lived in constant fear—of unseen threats, of hidden cameras that might capture proof of her escape from that dank underground prison, of Albert discovering her whereabouts. Months of confinement in darkness had left her skin a sickly, translucent white that spoke of too many sunless days.

The sudden shrill of her phone shattered the oppressive silence. Violet hesitated before slowly moving to answer it. The number showed a virtual IP address—only her parents or Felix and Gabrielle had this contact information. After confirming the caller's identity, she picked up.

"Ms. Swift!" Felix's voice cut straight to the point. "Clifford has nearly finished the medication you provided. When can we expect the next batch?"

Violet's lips curved in a mocking smile. "You promised to have Albert lift my blacklist in exchange for those pills. I delivered the first batch, yet I'm still persona non grata. You have some nerve asking for more."

"Ms. Swift, we genuinely intended to honor our agreement when we handed over Ms. Orlando, but we had no idea that was David," Felix explained desperately.

Violet's laugh was sharp and cold. "Why should I care about your excuses? My situation hasn't improved one bit!"

Gabrielle's tearful voice joined the conversation. "Ms. Swift, please have mercy! Without this medication, Clifford's condition will deteriorate rapidly. He's so young—please give him a chance to live!"

The woman's sobbing grated on Violet's nerves. Her own plans with David remained stalled, leaving her feeling trapped and powerless. If she wanted to find a breakthrough, she needed to be more strategic.

Forcing patience into her voice, Violet replied, "You want me to give him a lifeline? Who's throwing me one? I've given you irreplaceable medication from my family's private reserves—formulations that may never be recreated—and you can't even manage to lift a simple blacklist."

"We'll do anything within our power for you, Ms. Swift, but with Mr. Valdemar..." Gabrielle's voice broke. "Now that Ms. Orlando is no longer in our custody, we're even more helpless!"

'Useless family,' Violet thought bitterly, though she kept the words to herself. After a moment's consideration, she spoke. "Here's my offer: I'll provide two batches. One for your son, and the other—you'll find a way to get it into Yvette's system."

Felix and Gabrielle clearly wanted to negotiate their way out of this dangerous proposition. "But Ms. Swift, if that medication harms Yvette in any way, the Hayes family won't survive the consequences!"

Violet's patience evaporated. "If you won't agree to my terms, we have nothing more to discuss."

She hung up abruptly, rejecting every subsequent call from the desperate couple. Finally, a text message appeared on her screen: [Ms. Swift, we agree to your terms! Just please provide the medication!]

Violet typed back a curt "OK" and set the phone aside, her expression darkening with malicious satisfaction. Albert and Yvette's world had been suspiciously quiet lately. Given the timeline and disease progression, Yvette should be experiencing severe symptoms by now—either desperately seeking medication or facing death.

Yet everything remained eerily calm, with Albert even having enough resources to monitor her movements. It left her scurrying through shadows like a hunted rat!

When Yvette stirred awake, she rolled over casually, expecting to find Albert's side of the bed empty as he typically left early for work. Instead, she tumbled directly into his warm embrace.

Startled, she blinked her eyes open to meet his amused gaze, his arm tightening around her waist as his deep, morning-rough voice murmured, "Good morning."

Yvette's cheeks flushed as memories of yesterday's sofa encounter flooded back. She tried to wriggle free from his hold, but Albert's grip was firm. Her struggles only caused her nightgown to ride up, pressing her bare skin against his through the thin fabric of his pajamas—and she could feel his very obvious morning arousal.

"Stop squirming," Albert's voice grew rougher as he shifted his leg to pin her in place, preventing her from inadvertently stoking his desire further.

Caught off guard by his sharp tone, Yvette knew she'd overstepped and didn't dare protest. She buried her face against his chest, forcing herself to lie still.

Albert hadn't intended anything more, but her hair tickled against his skin and her warm breath fanned across his chest, sending shivers straight to his core. He couldn't be blamed for what happened next.

In one fluid motion, Albert rolled over her, his eyes dark with intent. "As long as we're not in the living room, it should be fine, right?"

Yvette pressed her hands against his chest, maintaining distance between them. "Didn't you say my body wasn't ready for... intimacy yet?"

Albert's eyes glinted. "I'll be gentle."

He leaned down to capture her lips, but just as their mouths were about to meet, his phone erupted in a shrill ring from the nightstand. Both froze, and Yvette instinctively pushed him away.

Interrupted once again, Albert's expression darkened considerably. Though he had no intention of answering, the moment between them was already shattered.

With a heavy sigh, Albert ran his fingers through his hair in frustration and grabbed the phone. "What?"

His curt tone startled Vincent, who took several seconds to recover. "Mr. Valdemar, while you don't need to come in for signatures today, there are still several documents requiring your digital approval."

"You're calling at the crack of dawn for that?" Albert's irritation was palpable.

Vincent was bewildered—didn't he call every morning to confirm the day's agenda?

Clearing his throat uncomfortably, he continued, "There's something more pressing we need to discuss."

Albert's jaw clenched. "Speak."

"Violet has made contact with the outside world—specifically with the Hayes family."
