Chapter 71 Quarrel

Albert's sudden concern made Yvette very uncomfortable. She frowned and looked at him, saying guardedly, "If you have something to say, just say it."

Albert paused, his voice lowering a bit, sounding somewhat nervous.

He asked, "Did you wait for a long time this morning?"

So it turned out that Albert did have moments when he showed concern for her, but she just couldn't bring herself to feel moved.

His concern now was as out of place as ice cream in the winter or a quilt in the summer. It might appear as care, but it was really just redundant.

"Not really," Yvette said coldly.

Hearing Yvette's response, Albert's suspicion was confirmed. He felt a bit guilty, and his tone softened. "You had no phone and no cash. How did you leave this morning?"

"People won't be defeated by difficulties. There are always solutions," Yvette looked at him. "Did you come to bring me my phone?"

"Yes," Albert replied.

Hearing this answer, Yvette still felt a bit disappointed.

Of course, he wouldn't come to comfort her; she wasn't the one he loved.

He was just here to bring her the phone.

Albert's deep eyes darkened, and he asked Yvette, "How long did you wait? Did you eat?"

Yvette didn't want to answer his questions. She took a deep breath, suppressing her chaotic emotions, and extended her palm towards Albert. "Thank you for bringing me the phone."

It was obvious that Yvette only wanted the phone and didn't want to talk more, leaving Albert speechless. He pondered for a moment, took Yvette's phone out of his pocket, but pulled it back when she reached for it.

Albert frowned, holding the phone tightly in his hand, and stared at her. "Answer my question first."

Yvette sighed inwardly. Someone as proud as Albert wouldn't allow her to ignore his questions.

She pressed her lips together. "I didn't wait long. I left quickly."

Albert gave her a meaningful look.

As Yvette was trying to figure out what his look meant, he suddenly took a step forward. His tall body leaned slightly, and his strong presence instantly made her feel a sense of oppression.

Albert's voice was flat and direct, exposing her. "I just asked Sylvia. She said she just picked you up. You waited all morning."

Rather than asking, Albert already knew the answer and was forcing her to admit it.

Yvette was annoyed by his assertiveness. She raised her eyebrows and looked at him. "Albert, what exactly do you want to ask? If it's about whether I saw you being intimate with Violet, I can answer you—"

Yvette started calmly, but when the words came out, they sounded aggressive, like a jealous wife.

She thought she didn't have that right.

Yvette pressed her lips together and slowly exhaled. Then she replied, "I saw it."

Albert frowned, staring at Yvette. He opened his mouth to explain, but Yvette raised her hand to stop him.

"Don't worry, I don't mean anything by it. I wish you both happiness."

Albert's Adam's apple bobbed slightly. "Are you angry?"

"I'm not angry. It has nothing to do with me."

"Yvette." He called out her name impatiently.

Albert seemed a bit dissatisfied, his eyes flashing coldly as he grabbed Yvette's arm, pulling her closer.

Yvette shook off Albert's arm. "You don't need to say anything."

Any explanation would just be a lie to her, and it wouldn't help.

Yvette had always liked hearing his lies, thinking it was better than nothing. Otherwise, why wouldn't he lie to someone else?

But recently, she realized too much about their relationship and feared she would sink deeper and suffocate.

At this moment, she just wanted to save herself.

Yvette lowered her eyes and said calmly, "It was my carelessness that caused the trouble. Don't worry, I have no other thoughts. I wish you both happiness."

She pondered, 'I should be understanding enough, right?'

After speaking, Yvette turned to leave, but the man in front of her grabbed her arm.

"Let go." Yvette frowned.

As she tried to shake off Albert's grip, he used his height advantage to pull her over and press her against the wall.

Yvette felt a blur before her eyes, and the next second, her back was against the hard, cold wall.

Albert's body pressed against hers.

Someone could come by the clinic at any moment, and their ambiguous posture made Yvette extremely uncomfortable. She raised her hand to push Albert, but he didn't move.

Seeing she couldn't push him away, Yvette placed her arm between them to create some distance and asked, a bit annoyed, "What's wrong with you?"

"Yvette, are you really so generous? Wishing me happiness with another woman?" Albert's calm voice carried a hint of anger.

Yvette found Albert's anger inexplicable. What right did she have to have feelings? What difference did it make if she wasn't generous?

"Don't worry, I won't cling to you. It doesn't matter who you're with." Yvette smiled, hiding her sadness. "Our relationship is ending anyway."

Yvette's words made Albert's expression colder and harder. His beautiful cold eyes gradually filled with anger. He didn't understand why this woman in front of him could so easily make him lose his composure.

"Yvette," Albert called her name, clearly with a warning tone.

'He was angry. Such a domineering and arrogant person naturally had a strong sense of possession,' Yvette thought.

Even though Albert didn't love her, he was still dissatisfied that she didn't care about him.

Yvette lowered her eyes, ignoring Albert's intense gaze. She didn't resist, letting him press her against the wall.

Albert felt like he was throwing a punch into a mound of cotton. He looked down at Yvette, not understanding what went wrong.

A woman who always obeyed him, sensitive to his every look and expression, was now saying she didn't care about him.

He wondered, 'Did she really not care?'

This question made Albert extremely displeased.

Albert raised his hand, gripping Yvette's delicate chin, forcing her to look into his eyes again.

He moved closer, his warm breath hitting Yvette's face. They were so close, just inches apart.

Albert asked, "Do you really not care who I'm with?"

"Isn't it good if I don't care?" Yvette couldn't comprehend his fixation on the question, her gaze icy as she looked at the man before her. "Must you make everyone uneasy to feel satisfied?"
