Chapter 324 Yvette Fainted

"Sorry, but I'm Jessica Valdemar," Yvette said firmly. "No matter what you do or say, you can't change who I am or my decision."

Yvette pursed her lips, facing Albert for the first time as Jessica.

"Albert, your wife Yvette died years ago. You need to accept that."

After saying this, Yvette's gaze shifted back to the ICU door.

She didn't want to argue with Albert; right now, all she wanted was for David to get better.

Because of this accident, she had decided to leave Luken. She planned to take David and their two kids back to Stellaria.

She would remember Albert's kindness and try to love him. Even if she couldn't fall in love, she hoped to maintain their relationship and raise the kids well.

Albert stepped closer, his tall frame casting a shadow over Yvette.

"I won't let you out of my sight. Four years is enough," Albert said. "I'll give you time to accept me again. I can't promise anything else."

Facing the intense Albert, Yvette responded coolly, "Suit yourself."

Yvette's cold expression made Albert's jaw tighten, and deep emotions surged in his eyes.

Now, Yvette stood firmly by David's side, opposing him.

His heart felt like it was pricked by tiny needles, jealousy seeping through the pinholes.

At that moment, the ICU door opened again, and a nurse hurried out.

Yvette's expression changed slightly, and she craned her neck to look inside, but only had a few seconds.

The door closed again, and Yvette slowly exhaled.

Albert's forehead veins bulged slightly, his jaw tightened, and he questioned, "What's there to keep looking at? If he dies, are you going to die with him?"

Yvette was extremely annoyed, glaring at Albert. "He won't die! The one who should die is you."

Hearing her clearly wish for his death, Albert's face became increasingly dark and terrifying, his eyes brewing with coldness.

"That's really a pity," Albert said coldly, his eyes slightly red. "I won't die for now, but as for him, whether he can survive today is a question."

Yvette called out, "Albert!"

Albert forcefully grabbed Yvette's chin, making her look at him. "Don't show this kind of affection in front of me, understand?"

He really was a madman!

Yvette no longer backed down, staring straight at him. "Since it's affection, of course, I have to show it. If anything happens to David, I'll die with him. Will that satisfy you?"

Albert's throat choked; he knew he had upset her again.

He pursed his lips, hiding the surging emotions in his eyes. "That's not what I meant. You don't have to say such things to anger me."

Yvette retorted, "As long as you don't appear in front of me, I don't even want to talk to you."

Albert was choked, his brows furrowed slightly. "You know that's impossible."

Yvette said coldly, "Then we have nothing to talk about. You hurt my husband; I can't speak kindly to you."

Yvette still believed he had hit David with the car. Although it was clearly an accident, she had her preconceived notions."Yvette, I've already explained, it was his car that hit mine," Albert said, looking deeply at her. "If I really wanted to harm him, do you think he'd still be alive now? I..."

Before Albert could finish, a piercing alarm suddenly blared from the ICU.

Yvette's eyes widened instantly, her tone shrill. "Albert, what did you do?"

Albert stammered, "I..."

The sudden chaos disrupted everything. Doctors and nurses instantly became tense, rushing in and out, quickening their pace.

Yvette was completely flustered; she couldn't care about anything else. She wanted to see David's condition but was afraid of getting in the way of the doctors and nurses.

The scene turned chaotic, and Yvette was pushed out. She couldn't see through the closed door. Memories of him caring for her and the kids flashed through her mind. He had always been so good to her.

But she insisted on returning to the country, reuniting with Albert, making everything a mess, and causing his accident, leaving his life uncertain.

She was filled with regret and guilt.

From childhood to adulthood, she had never harmed anyone, making her restless.

She thought, 'If David couldn't be saved...'

Thinking of this, Yvette felt her body go weak, unable to stop herself from sliding down.

Albert quickly caught her, holding her tightly in his arms.

Albert clearly saw the worry in her eyes; she was obviously concerned and confused. She was a doctor, having seen more life and death than the average person, but at this moment, she was just an ordinary patient's relative, an ordinary wife.

Seeing her like this made Albert feel suddenly lost. He had always believed Yvette would come back to him one day. But her concern didn't seem like an act. Could she really no longer love him and have fallen for David?

Thinking of this, Albert felt like a hand was choking his throat, making it hard to breathe.

The rescue ended; it was just a false alarm. The monitoring device wasn't properly attached, causing an abnormal alert.

Everyone was startled.

Yvette broke out in a sweat; she was too nervous. Just as she was about to sit down, she suddenly heard footsteps behind her.

"Where's David?" A voice full of pain and age came; it was Cheryl.

Why was Cheryl here?

Glancing at Manuel beside her, he lowered his head.

Yvette's face was still tear-streaked; afraid Cheryl would worry, she quickly wiped them away. "Grandma, why are you here?"

Cheryl came to Yvette, grabbing her hand. "How is David?!"

Yvette's eyes were slightly red, her emotions finally breaking. "Grandma."

Yvette's voice was hoarse, with a sob, unable to say anything else.

Cheryl's hands trembled, tightly holding Yvette's hand, her gaze sharp as she looked at Manuel behind her. "Such important news, and you only told me this morning! Do you not regard me at all?"

"I'm sorry..." Yvette wanted to speak but suddenly felt dizzy. She patted her head, but everything seemed to blur and distance.

What was happening?

On the other side, Albert hadn't had a chance to speak to Cheryl when he saw Yvette's pale face, looking like she was about to collapse.

He quickly realized something was wrong. "Yvette!"

Albert strode over, just in time to catch her as she fell.
