Chapter 486 Introduction: Yvette Orlando, Albert's Wife from the Valdemar Group
Yvette had a long, long dream.
She was running down a country path, laughing like she didn't have a care in the world. The only thing that slightly bothered her was the vague worries of a young girl.
As she ran, she suddenly tripped and fell hard into the field, her face covered in mud.
A voice, full of swagger, came from nearby: "Hey, you didn't break your neck, did you?"
That familiar voice tugged at her heartstrings.
Yvette got up, wiped the mud from her face, and looked at the young man standing there.
He was clearly pretending to be annoyed, but couldn't hide the worry in his eyes.
It was Albert.
He must be waiting for her, right?
He spent thirty million dollars to save her, he rushed into the fire to rescue her.
He must really love her, right?
So she had to wake up, go back to him, tell him that BoBo and CiCi were his biological children, show him the photos in the safe, and the ultrasound and test results of the baby in her belly.
Most importantly, she had to tell him that she truly, deeply loved him.
Yvette tried desperately to find him, but she didn't even have the strength to open her eyes.
Suddenly, the fierce explosion of the fire appeared again in Yvette's dream.
One moment she could hear Albert shouting her name, but the next, there was only the deafening sound of the explosion and the ringing in her ears.
Albert!
He was in the fire too!
Yvette woke up with a start!
The moment she woke up, her body felt utterly exhausted, even her fingers were hard to move.
All she could see was a desolate white.
The sound of beeping machines filled her ears. She didn't move her head, only weakly blinked her eyes.
Yvette recalled the scene of the explosion, trying to remember if Albert had been injured in the blast.
It was a disaster, and she was trapped in it, unable to escape.
The fire raged, the heat waves rolled, and the explosions were relentless.
She was knocked to the ground by the intense shockwaves. She wanted to look back to see where Albert was, but the flames had already cut off her view.
She felt as if she had been abandoned by God, helplessly awaiting her fate.
At that moment, she heard Clifford's weak voice.
"Ms. Orlando, are you okay?"
Clifford's eyes were already open, looking at her. Yvette met his gaze, realizing that the explosion had woken him from his unconscious state.
Yvette was utterly exhausted. She shook her head but couldn't say a word.
She knew that her life might end in this explosion.
"Don't be afraid, I'll get you out of here." Clifford's voice grew clearer as he struggled to kick away the wooden boards pinning him down. "I'll save you."
Before he could finish his sentence, Yvette suddenly heard a terrifying cracking sound above her.
She looked up to see a piece of metal about to fall on them.
She closed her eyes in despair, ready to accept death, when a figure suddenly appeared, shielding her.
The immense force struck down, and even though she was protected, Yvette's head was still hit.
After that, she knew nothing.
Yvette blinked. Since she was lucky enough to be alive, she had to get home and find Albert!
She tried to sit up, determination flashing in her eyes, her lips pressed tightly together as she gathered all her strength.
Her hands gripped the bedsheet tightly, as if drawing strength from it.
With great effort, Yvette managed to get out of bed, but after taking a few shaky steps, her legs gave out under her weight.
She tried to steady herself, but it was no use. Her body swayed like a leaf in the wind before finally collapsing.
Just then, a nurse and Felix and Gabrielle, who had come to change her bandages, rushed in and caught her, helping her back to bed.
Yvette's face was pale, her eyes brimming with tears, but her gaze remained resolute.
She looked at the couple and the nurse with suspicion, asking, "Where am I?"
"Rest assured. We are Clifford's parents."
Yvette was taken aback. "Hello, sir, ma'am. Did you save me? How is Mr. Clifford Hayes now?"
"Yes," Gabrielle said, her face full of sorrow. "He's still unconscious."
"Since you're awake, he should be fine too," Felix said with concern. "Ms. Orlando, how are you feeling?"
"I'm sorry," Yvette said guiltily. "Mr. Clifford Hayes got involved because of me. I will take full responsibility for this."
"He's an adult, it was his choice," Gabrielle said gently, patting her shoulder. "You look very weak. Focus on getting better first."
Yvette nodded, grateful for their understanding.
Gabrielle asked, "How are you feeling? After the nurse changes your bandages, I'll have our housekeeper bring you some soup."
Felix and Gabrielle's kindness made Yvette feel warm inside. She smiled weakly. "No need. My name is Yvette Orlando, I'm Albert's wife from the Valdemar Group. Could you contact him for me and ask him to come get me?"
Felix and Gabrielle exchanged a quick glance, their expressions momentarily shifting.
Felix said, "Of course. We didn't contact your family earlier because we weren't sure of your identity."
"Thank you so much! And thank you to Mr. Clifford Hayes!" Yvette said sincerely. "When I get back, I'll find a specialist to help Mr. Clifford Hayes wake up as soon as possible."
Yvette bit her lip and added, "I'm really sorry."
They didn't respond to her apology. Gabrielle asked, "What's your husband's contact information? We'll reach out to him now."
Yvette gave them the contact details, and Felix and Gabrielle reassured her, "Rest now and let the nurse change your bandages."
"Okay, thank you."
Felix and Gabrielle left the room, their expressions changing the moment they stepped out.
Gabrielle glanced at the paper with Albert's contact information, her face growing more serious.
They didn't speak, but they both understood what the other was thinking.
A servant approached them. "Sir, ma'am, the soup is ready."
Gabrielle said, "Take it to her."
"Yes, ma'am."
As the servant was about to leave, Felix suddenly spoke up. "Wait."
The servant turned back. "Yes, sir?"
A flash of ruthlessness crossed Felix's eyes. "Make sure someone keeps a close watch on her."
