Chapter 356 She Rejected His Affection
Violet's words dealt the final blow to Yvette. Even though she had accepted it in her heart, hearing Violet say it out loud still made her uncontrollably sad.
Yvette's demeanor turned colder. "If saying these things makes you happy, then go ahead and say a few more. But my affairs are none of your concern."
Without giving Violet a chance to continue, Yvette grabbed her bag and turned to leave. Her departing figure was composed, but only she knew she was nearly fleeing in panic.
Back in her room, Yvette was still immersed in the emotions brought on by Violet, unable to recover for a long time.
In front of Violet, she could never muster confidence and always felt defeated. After all, Albert had always chosen Violet over her. Confidence? How could she have any with the way Albert treated her?
As night fell, Yvette took an early bath and got into bed to video call BoBo and CiCi. In the video, CiCi was her usual carefree and smiling self, but BoBo looked troubled. Knowing BoBo was more thoughtful than most children, Yvette couldn't help but worry.
Yvette comforted him, "BoBo, Mommy will be back soon and will bring you gifts!"
BoBo nodded. "Thank you, Mommy. Will Uncle Albert come back with you?"
Yvette was taken aback, realizing that BoBo's unhappiness was because he knew she had left Luken with Albert.
"Yes, he brought me here to shop." Yvette forced a lighthearted smile at BoBo. "He also brought gifts for you."
BoBo said, "Then, thanks."
Just as Yvette was about to say more, the room's door lock suddenly beeped twice, indicating someone was swiping a card to enter.
Yvette knew it was Albert returning, so she hurriedly said goodbye to BoBo, "BoBo, it's late. You should go to bed early. Goodbye, sweetheart!"
BoBo answered, "Okay, goodbye, Mommy."
Yvette hung up and got up to greet him. As Albert entered, the room filled with the faint scent of alcohol; he had been drinking.
Yvette reached out to support Albert, and he took the opportunity to bend down, pulling Yvette into his arms and holding her tightly.
Yvette pushed him gently. "You've had too much to drink. It's late, take a shower quickly. We have to get up early tomorrow."
Albert ignored her, tightening his arm around her slender waist and lowering his lips to kiss her.
Yvette instinctively turned her head away. "Don't..."
Albert noticed Yvette's reaction and realized something. He looked down at her in the dim room, meeting her slightly lowered eyes that held hidden emotions.
Albert stopped teasing her and lifted her chin with his index finger. "What's wrong? Are you unhappy?"
"No." Yvette lowered her gaze.
Her tone almost confirmed Albert's suspicion. He raised an eyebrow and this time, his tone was no longer questioning. "Why are you unhappy?"
Yvette shook her head and said seriously, "Really, it's nothing. Go take a shower."
Seeing that she truly didn't want to talk, and knowing he was surrounded by the essence of alcohol, Albert didn't press further. "Okay, I'll go shower."
Albert walked straight into the bathroom. As he was undressing, the bathroom door was knocked on by Yvette.
"Can I come in?" Yvette, probably afraid he might misunderstand, added, "I'm bringing you clothes."
Albert replied, "Of course."
The door opened, and Yvette's cheeks flushed slightly as she looked at his well-built muscles.
She placed the clean clothes down and turned to leave.
Albert's voice carried a hint of amusement. "Leaving already?"
Yvette paused and turned back, hesitantly asking, "Do you need help?"
"No." Albert continued unbuttoning his trousers, his deep eyes fixed on Yvette. "But I need company."
Yvette, feeling flustered by his teasing, said, "I'll keep you company outside."
Taking advantage of the fact that he was busy undressing and couldn't grab her, Yvette quickly left the bathroom.
The scent from the aromatherapy on the bedside table filled the room, inducing drowsiness. Having had a drink, Albert felt a bit warm.
Yvette got up to pour him a glass of cold water and handed it to him. "You've had alcohol, drink more water, or you'll feel bad tomorrow."
"Okay." Albert took the glass and drank the water in one gulp.
The cool water did help alleviate some of the heat inside him.
Yvette lay down beside Albert but didn't dare touch him. After drinking, he was like a ticking time bomb; the slightest touch could keep her up all night.
Albert closed his eyes, his expression slightly somber. "What time is the flight tomorrow?"
"Nine in the morning," Yvette replied softly.
"Oh." Albert said half-jokingly, "Then we'll soon be disturbed by two little kids again."
Albert's tone was calm, leaving Yvette unsure if he was serious. Her body stiffened slightly with the worry that he might not accept the two children.
It wasn't until Albert chuckled softly and turned over. "Then let's make the most of tonight, without any interruptions."
Albert's forceful kiss landed, and Yvette's mouth was filled with the taste of alcohol, making it hard for her to breathe, but she felt somewhat relieved.
It seemed Albert wasn't unhappy with the children's presence; he just didn't want to be interrupted while doing this.
Yvette panted heavily, but as Albert's lips moved to her collarbone, she couldn't help but think of Violet's words.
She was always the one being abandoned.
Yvette raised her hand, firmly placing it between them.
She lifted her eyes and looked at Albert, speaking seriously, "Albert, I'm a bit tired. Can we not do this?"
Seeing the emotions Yvette was desperately suppressing in her eyes, Albert quickly calmed down. Looking at her sharply, he seemed to see through her heart. She was indeed unhappy.
Albert placed his hand on the back of Yvette's neck, applying slight pressure, and finally kissed her on the lips. "If you're tired, go to sleep early, okay?"
"Okay." Yvette's voice was very soft.
Gently stroking her back to comfort her, Albert waited until Yvette's breathing became steady. Confirming she was asleep, his expression turned cold.
He took out his phone and sent a message to the bodyguard: [Who did she meet today?]
The phone vibrated slightly, and the bodyguard quickly replied: [Rodolfo's wife.]
Seeing the line of text on the screen, Albert's demeanor instantly turned icy.
