Chapter 642 Grandma Claims You're On Board for Baby Number Three
After a full day of beach fun, the family of four returned to their hotel room.
Vincent had booked them a suite—a whimsical family room with a king-sized bed large enough for all four of them to sleep comfortably.
As they gently pushed open the door, warm light flooded the space, creating a cozy atmosphere that felt like home.
The two children were exhausted from their day of play and full from dinner. They sat on the edge of the bed, their eyelids growing heavy with sleep.
Seeing how tired the children looked, Yvette said, "I'll run them a bath."
"Sounds good." Albert reached over, carefully helping the children out of their sandy clothes.
But before Yvette could even finish drawing the bath, both children had given in to exhaustion and collapsed onto the bed, fast asleep.
When Yvette emerged from the bathroom, BoBo and CiCi were already lying on the bed with their eyes closed, their little cheeks flushed pink, breathing peacefully and evenly.
Outside, the sound of waves rolling onto shore created a gentle lullaby, carrying them deeper into their dreams.
Yvette tiptoed over, careful not to make any noise that might disturb their peaceful slumber.
Looking at BoBo and CiCi sleeping so soundly, Yvette couldn't help but smile, her heart full of contentment and happiness.
This day had given their family countless moments of laughter and beautiful memories at the beach—enough to last her a lifetime and fill the empty spaces in her heart.
Everything felt so peaceful and perfect in this moment.
Yvette sat down beside the children, gently stroking their hair, savoring this ordinary yet precious time.
Albert emerged from the bathroom carrying a warm washcloth, carefully wiping down both children.
His movements were smooth and unhurried as he efficiently cleaned them both.
It had been hot outside, and they'd worked up quite a sweat playing. If he didn't clean them properly, they'd be uncomfortable sleeping.
Seeing Albert being so thoughtful touched Yvette deeply.
Albert suddenly looked up, their eyes meeting across the bed. Yvette caught a hint of amusement dancing in his dark eyes.
Yvette couldn't quite read his expression.
"What is it?" she asked softly.
"Nothing," Albert composed himself. "I'll stay with them while they sleep. You've been sweating all day taking care of them too—why don't you go take a shower first?"
Yvette didn't catch the deeper meaning in his tone and simply nodded, turning to get clean clothes from her suitcase.
"Alright."
Yvette stepped into the bathroom, letting the hot water wash over her.
The cascading water seemed almost magical, streaming over her body and washing away the day's fatigue.
She showered quickly, wanting to let Albert have his turn so they could both get some rest.
But when Yvette emerged from the bathroom, she was surprised to find that BoBo and CiCi had vanished from the bed. She looked around the room—the children were nowhere to be seen, and Albert had disappeared as well.
The room felt empty, with only the gentle evening breeze stirring the curtains.
Yvette was puzzled. Had the children woken up and convinced Albert to take them out to play again?
Just as Yvette was about to go look for them, she heard the suite door opening.
Yvette hurried over to meet Albert. "Where did BoBo and CiCi go?"
Looking up, she found herself meeting Albert's gaze directly.
Albert had clearly just showered—his hair was still damp, and as he moved closer, Yvette could catch the faint scent of his shampoo.
He wore a simple t-shirt that showed off his broad shoulders and lean, athletic build, his muscle definition clearly visible.
Albert said in a low voice, "I took a shower in the guest bathroom, so I moved them to the room next door to sleep."
"You showered in the guest bathroom?" Yvette instinctively reached out to touch him, and sure enough, his skin was cool—he'd taken a cold shower. "Don't catch cold."
"I won't."
"If I'd known you needed a shower that badly, I would have let you go first," Yvette said casually.
"I was eager," Albert paused, his tone loaded with meaning, "but I just wanted us to shower at the same time."
Yvette missed the implication in his words and simply handed him a bathrobe. "Put this on—the air conditioning is running."
Albert didn't respond but took the robe from her.
"Well, let's go then." Yvette started pulling Albert toward the door.
Albert stopped in his tracks, not budging, his dark eyes fixed intently on Yvette. "Go where?"
"Now that we've both showered, let's go get the children and bring them back."
Albert raised an eyebrow. "You actually believed that?"
Albert's non-sequitur left Yvette confused. "Believed what?"
"You really think I moved them next door because I was desperate for a shower and worried about leaving them unsupervised?"
Yvette blinked. "What else would it be?"
Albert chuckled softly, leaning in closer. "I was following Grandmother's orders."
Following Grandmother's orders?
Yvette blinked, suddenly understanding.
She felt flustered, instinctively looking at Albert, only to find him watching her with an amused expression.
Yvette's face flushed red instantly, and she looked away, unable to meet his eyes.
"But this is supposed to be a family vacation for the four of us. How could you just send the children away?"
Her voice grew smaller with each word, and under his magnetic gaze, Yvette found herself losing all conviction.
"They're fast asleep—they won't remember where they slept," Albert said, raising an eyebrow. "Grandmother is getting on in years. We should listen to her, shouldn't we?"
Albert moved closer, his intense gaze fixed on her, his eyes growing darker by the moment.
Yvette felt her spine tense at his straightforward words delivered in such a suggestive tone.
Men really couldn't be trusted! He never seemed particularly obedient to Cheryl any other time!
But now, suddenly, he was all about following orders!
Yvette's throat moved as she swallowed hard, realizing why he'd rushed to take that cold shower in the guest bathroom.
She took a half-step back. "We're so tired from today, and we have to get up early tomorrow to take the kids out again."
The moment Yvette finished speaking, she found herself swept off her feet as Albert scooped her up in his arms.
She immediately understood his intentions and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, her other hand clutching the collar of his shirt, feeling nervous. "What are you doing?"
"What do you think?" Albert laughed, raising an eyebrow as he asked, "We can't disappoint Grandmother after she went to all the trouble of arranging for Beatrice to come help us with the children, can we?"
Yvette watched helplessly as she was carried closer and closer to that enormous bed, her panic mounting.
She didn't dare struggle too much and could only say, "But Albert—"
"What?" Albert looked at her with that mischievous expression, leaning down to brush a soft kiss across her lips as he quickened his pace. "Don't you want to listen to Grandmother anymore?"
Yvette didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "What else did Grandmother say?"
"Grandmother said," Albert's voice was low and smooth, sending shivers down her spine, "that you agreed to try for baby number three."
