Chapter 484 Why Provoke Albert's Woman?
Albert's brow furrowed deeply, his piercing eyes as cold and clear as a winter lake, fixed intently on Felix's expression.
Cheryl's information had been mostly accurate.
But looking at Felix's resolute expression, there was a mix of surprise and confusion in his eyes, yet it didn't seem like he was lying.
Albert began to doubt for a moment. Could Cheryl still be trying to hinder his search for Yvette by deliberately feeding him false information?
Just as Albert was questioning this, Gabrielle suddenly lunged forward.
Albert instinctively stepped aside, but Gabrielle had already collapsed at his feet, kneeling and sobbing uncontrollably. "Mr. Valdemar, the video you mentioned, does it show how Clifford was taken? Can we see who the kidnappers are? If you find this video, please, please let me see it. My poor Clifford..."
Gabrielle clutched Albert's pant leg with one hand and gripped her chest with the other, as if all the sorrow she had been holding in finally erupted.
Her eyes were hollow, tears streaming down, but when she looked at Albert, they were filled with desperation.
She couldn't stop crying out loud, as if she wanted to pour out all the pain and longing from losing her son.
Gabrielle's tears left dark spots on Albert's pants.
Albert frowned at Gabrielle, trying to pull his leg free, but each slight movement only made her hold on tighter.
The sudden situation startled Vincent, who hurried around the sofa to pull Gabrielle away.
"Mrs. Hayes, please calm down," Vincent said gently, though his grip on Gabrielle was firm.
But Gabrielle seemed not to hear him, her hands clinging tightly to Albert's leg as if it were her only lifeline. "Please, Mr. Valdemar, please. That might be the last footage of our Clifford. If you find it, you must let me have a copy!"
Perhaps Gabrielle's grief moved Albert's heart, as Vincent's shoulder was suddenly patted.
He looked up to see Albert waving him off.
Albert spoke in a low voice, "Mr. Hayes, your wife is grieving. Shouldn't you comfort her?"
Felix, lost in thought, snapped to attention at Albert's words. "Yes, yes, I'm sorry. My wife was too abrupt!"
"Get up!" Felix feigned anger, reaching to pull Gabrielle up. "Don't embarrass us in front of Mr. Valdemar. Mr. Valdemar is also looking for his wife; he understands our feelings. Don't get too emotional. With Mr. Valdemar's connections in Luken, we just need to wait for his news."
Gabrielle, exhausted from crying, nearly fainted, her face pale.
But hearing Felix's words, she finally let go. "Then, thank you, Mr. Valdemar."
With Felix's help, Gabrielle struggled to her feet, her face still streaked with tears, but her eyes now held a trace of gratitude.
Albert straightened his collar, giving the two a final cold glance.
Having not obtained what he wanted, there was no reason to stay. He still had to find Yvette.
Albert lifted his long legs and strode out of the Hayes mansion.
It wasn't until Albert's figure disappeared and his car drove away from the Hayes Mansion that Gabrielle, leaning against Felix, seemed to lose all her strength.
Her whole body quivered like a leaf in a storm, and she suddenly collapsed to the ground.
Felix slowly squatted down, looking at Gabrielle with pity. "You've been through a lot."
Gabrielle lay weakly on the floor, letting her body rest for a moment. She was so tense, she felt she might vomit at any second.
Gabrielle wept silently. "Clifford, why did you have to mess with Albert's woman?"
Felix sighed deeply. "But he's our son. No matter how big the problem, we have to help him deal with it."
The Valdemar Group
In the conference room, the long table was covered with various reports and documents. James sat at the head, listening to the executives' reports.
"Mr. James Valdemar, the surgical hospital project has slowed significantly due to Mr. Albert Valdemar's current state. The forum and the dean have many concerns..."
"Yeah, the airline's R&D project is also at risk of stalling. We don't know what's going on with Mr. Albert Valdemar..."
The executives exchanged glances, clearly disgruntled.
Since Yvette's incident, Albert seemed to have reverted to his state from a few years ago, abandoning all Valdemar Group matters to focus solely on finding Yvette.
A few years ago, Albert hadn't yet taken all the Valdemar Group projects into his hands. But now, almost the entire Valdemar Group revolved around him. With him gone, all projects were in a semi-stalled state, and the partners' complaints were endless, leaving the executives to placate them.
James smiled, his eyebrows slightly raised, a hint of smugness in his eyes. "Don't worry, I'm progressing with these projects one by one. But there are priorities, so we'll take them step by step."
This incident had made James and Lisa the happiest. No one had expected such a stroke of luck, bringing Albert down. With Albert out of the picture and David being a cripple, the entire Valdemar Group would naturally fall into his hands. Taking advantage of Albert's preoccupation, he needed to reclaim everything quickly.
"Thank you, Mr. Valdemar. With you back in charge, we're much more at ease."
"Yes, you've led the Valdemar Group for so many years, taking it so far. We're naturally willing to cooperate with you."
"Mr. Valdemar, we're grateful for you leading us forward in this critical time."
James glanced around the room, seeing a group of people with no real loyalty, ready to support whoever was in power. These scheming individuals wore sly smiles, their hands intertwined under the table, as if weaving an invisible web of conspiracy.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and a man strode in. Everyone looked up simultaneously, stunned to see Albert, dressed in a dark suit, walking in with long strides. His features were sharp, his gaze piercing, like a sword ready to cut through the facade of calm.
His presence plunged the conference room into a deathly silence, all eyes on him, expressions frozen in that moment.
Albert surveyed the room, his gaze like a sharp blade, cutting across each face. He raised a hand, leisurely adjusting his dark gray tie with subtle patterns, then placed his hands on the conference table, fingers tapping lightly.
Albert cast a disdainful glance at James, his thin lips parting. "What's this? Everyone's in such a hurry?"
