Chapter 292 Dominic Makes Things Difficult for Yvette

In the quiet room, the only light on was the one by the entrance, casting a dim glow over the living room.

Albert was sprawled out on the big leather couch, his tall frame stretched out, holding a cigarette between his clean, slender fingers.

The cigarette's ember glowed red, casting a faint light on his sharp features.

Thinking about Yvette's bright eyes, Albert felt the veins on his forehead start to throb.

He'd lost his cool today, but his patience had run out a long time ago. He wasn't going to keep playing along with her and David.

All he wanted was his wife, Yvette.

Albert's brows knitted together as he stubbed out the cigarette and got up to leave.

Driving over to Yvette's place, Albert raised his hand to knock on the door, but there was no answer.

He frowned, dialed Lassie, but her phone was off. Confused, he called Vincent next.

"The Orlando family is off the grid. Look into it."

"Got it."

Hanging up, Albert stared at the closed door in front of him, a weird feeling creeping into his chest.

In less than three minutes, Vincent called back.

"Found it. The Orlando family hit the lottery this morning and took off on a trip overnight. Checked the airline info; their return tickets are for two weeks from now."

"Two weeks," Albert muttered.

Yvette had just come back to Luken and popped up on his radar, and now the Orlando family suddenly wins the lottery and takes off? Way too coincidental.

Albert's eyes went cold as he said, "Find out who booked the tickets."

"On it."

Meanwhile, Yvette was trying to reconnect with Dominic after Albert had interrupted their discussion. The VIP room at the club was packed with people celebrating Dominic's project.

Most of the room was filled with men, drinking and smoking, making the place a chaotic mess.

Yvette didn't want to get caught up in the scene, worried the smell would cling to her and the kids would notice when she got home. But with Dominic about to leave on a business trip, this was her only shot at a face-to-face talk.

She sat on the sofa, watching Dominic, who was already drunk, holding a hostess and drinking.

Finally, as he set down his glass after finishing it, Yvette intended to discuss the project, but he was already engrossed in kissing the woman.

A flicker of annoyance crossed Yvette's face. Yesterday, in front of Albert, he wasn't like this.

After the kiss, Dominic picked up another glass and looked at Yvette. "Jessica, this scene isn't too much for you, is it?"

"Of course not," Yvette smiled.

Dominic said, "You're David's wife from Las Vegas, living the high life. I was worried it might be tough for you."

"There's no high life; the project comes first." Yvette poured herself a glass of water and walked over to Dominic. "I came back from Vegas with just the kids, so no drinking for me. I'll stick to water instead of wine."

As Yvette took those few steps, her dress swayed, the slit revealing her slender legs.

Dominic raised an eyebrow and said with a smirk, "Of course, if you can't drink, I won't force you."

He stood up with his glass, his rough voice drawing everyone's attention.

"This is Jessica, the wife of David, the president of the Las Vegas branch."

Dominic's voice echoed through the room, and the men's gazes turned to Yvette, not exactly friendly.

David, based in the Las Vegas branch, was too distant to oversee the headquarters' employees effectively. Moreover, the animosity between Albert and David was common knowledge among almost everyone.

Several men sneered, showing no respect for Yvette.

Dominic looked at Yvette's pretty face and smiled slyly.

Albert had come to see her yesterday but didn't approve the project, instead asking him to find a way to delay it. Wasn't that just making things difficult for Yvette?

The feud between David and Albert was clearly not just a rumor.

Dominic shrugged. "As a leader, I'm always happy to listen to my employees' ideas. If they think the project is feasible, everything is negotiable. It's easier to talk business when you're part of the atmosphere, don't you think?"

Dominic's alcohol-laced words left Yvette with no choice but to drink.

She drank the water in her glass and poured herself some wine. "Dominic, let me toast you first."

Yvette downed it in one go. "My bad for putting a damper on the party vibe. Let's chat once everyone's had a chance to unwind."

Dominic smiled triumphantly. "With a beauty like you drinking with us, what project wouldn't we want to discuss? Come on, let's drink more!"

A male colleague nudged Dominic. "You're just sucking up to Albert, hoping for a promotion, right?"

Dominic gave him a meaningful look but didn't respond.

Yvette knew she was about to face endless rounds of drinking. In Las Vegas, she rarely had such experiences. Occasionally, when she drank too much, there were servants at home, and David would help look after the kids.

But now it was different. The thought of having to take care of the kids while drunk troubled her.

Yvette gritted her teeth and braced herself to continue.

She had come back for this project and couldn't mess it up.

The door to the private room swung open, and the previously noisy room suddenly fell silent. The men immediately pushed away the women in their arms and extinguished their cigarettes. Even the drunken Dominic stopped what he was doing.

Yvette, drink in hand, looked at Dominic in confusion as his expression darkened and his posture slumped.

Yvette set down her glass and turned, confused.

Albert stood at the door, his deep, indifferent eyes meeting hers, unreadable.
