Chapter 372 I Don't Need Your Sympathy

At this moment, the door to the ward suddenly opened, interrupting their conversation.

Yvette quickly got up from Albert and turned to look at the door.

Sunlight poured in through the wide-open door as Cheryl pushed it open and walked straight to Yvette.

"You take the children back to rest, I'll stay here." Cheryl's voice was somewhat aged and tired, but it carried a great deal of authority.

Yvette pursed her lips, her eyes showing stubbornness. "Grandma, I want to stay here to take care of him."

Cheryl said coldly, "Albert is a man, how can we trouble his sister-in-law to take care of him? I am his grandmother, and we have servants at home. You take the children and go back."

"Grandma." Yvette's eyes reddened, but she didn't respond to Cheryl's words and stubbornly refused to leave.

Cheryl immediately became angry, her eyes cold and stern. "Do you really want me to spell it out? You've already caused the brothers to turn against each other. David hasn't fully recovered yet, and now Albert is seriously injured. Yvette, do you really want to wait until you've harmed everyone in the Valdemar Family before you're satisfied?"

Yvette lowered her head, unable to suppress her inner guilt.

Was it really all her fault?

Was it her fault that David got injured and was still in recovery? And now Albert was injured from saving the two children, facing the risk of paralysis.

Was all of this really because of her? Did she harm them and the Valdemar Family?

Yvette's eyes stung, and the thought of Albert possibly being paralyzed from his spinal injury caused her immense pain.

Hearing Cheryl's words now felt like a hand was gripping her throat, almost suffocating her.

"Grandma, you're going too far." Albert's cold voice came through. "This isn't Yvette's fault."

Cheryl turned around, looking at Albert with disappointment."How is it not her fault? I heard from Vincent that if you hadn't gone to save the two children, you wouldn't have fallen and gotten so seriously injured!" Cheryl's eyes reddened as well. "Albert, my two favorite grandsons are you and David. Both of you have ended up like this because of her. How can I possibly tolerate her?"

Albert frowned deeply. "But you need to understand, Tyrell kidnapped the two children and put them in danger to get back at me. It started because of me, so I should be the one to resolve it."

Cheryl trembled with anger. "You're still defending her. Do you know how serious your injury is? If you continue like this, what will happen to the Valdemar Group? You are the head of the Valdemar Group!"

Albert replied, "I'm fine. A fracture needs time to heal. Don't worry, it won't affect the Valdemar Group."

"A fracture can heal with time, but what if your spinal injury doesn't recover?" Cheryl's voice trembled. "If you face the risk of paralysis and can never stand again?"

Cheryl's painful questioning made Albert's face instantly pale, his deep eyes filled with disbelief, his face full of refusal to accept.

Albert felt like he had been struck by lightning, his usually rational thoughts shattered by her words.

"What?" Albert asked in disbelief.

Cheryl's old eyes were full of pain. "The doctor told me personally that your spine is injured, and paralysis is just a matter of probability!"

Cheryl walked up to Albert and heavily threw the diagnosis report onto his bed. "Albert, I'll ask you again. You're already facing the possibility of paralysis because of her, and you still want to defend her?"

Tightening his facial muscles, Albert picked up the doctor's diagnosis report, still unable to believe it. Each word felt like a sharp needle piercing his eyes and reaching his heart. The weakness in his legs wasn't due to the fracture but an injury to his spine.

Albert stared at his legs, unable to speak for a moment.

Cheryl closed her eyes in despair. "Albert, please understand me. You are my grandson. I want you to be healthy and to support the entire Valdemar Group. But now..."

Cheryl's words also surprised Yvette. "Grandma, he will get better and will be able to support the entire Valdemar Group!"

Cheryl looked at Yvette, her eyes sharp and her voice cold. "I can accept the head of the Valdemar Group being bedridden, but can the rest of the Valdemar Group tolerate it?"

Looking at Albert with concern, Yvette saw his face growing paler, his chiseled features tense as he struggled to hold back. She felt heartache, unsure how to comfort him.

How could the once invincible Albert accept such a reality?

Yvette walked slowly to Albert. "You will get better, don't worry too much. I talked to the doctor too. Your spinal injury isn't severe, paralysis is just a possibility, not a certainty..."

"Stop talking!" Albert interrupted her. "Both of you, leave."

Albert's voice was low and hoarse, like a wounded beast's defeated growl.

Yvette's eyes reddened with heartache. "Albert..."

Cheryl called out, "Albert!"

Albert suddenly raised his head. "Get out!"

Albert's stubbornness was well known to both Yvette and Cheryl.

At this moment, he was on the verge of exploding, and no one dared to push his limits further.

Cheryl slowly exhaled. "Albert, I'll leave for now. I'll have Vincent come over later. If you need anything, call me anytime."

With that, Cheryl gave Yvette a deep look and left the ward.

After Cheryl left, Yvette stood awkwardly in place, wanting to say many things to Albert, but knowing that he couldn't hear any of it right now.

She looked down at the two children and realized they had been awakened by the argument, lying quietly in bed, looking at her with wide eyes.

Their eyes were filled with tension and fear, but they remained silent, listening to the adults' conversation.

Yvette felt a sharp pain in her heart. She looked up at Albert. "It's inconvenient for Vincent to take care of you. Let me..."

"Get out!" Albert said sharply. "Didn't you understand what I said?"

Yvette said, "Don't get too agitated, calm down."

"I'm very calm." Albert looked at her with eyes full of bitterness. "Yvette, did you hear? If I become paralyzed, I won't be able to continue as the head of the Valdemar Group."

Yvette replied, "But you will get better. I'll take care of you until you do..."

Albert interrupted with a cold laugh. "I don't need your pity. Please leave my ward."
