Chapter 561 Violet's Sudden Appearance
Seeing Albert hang up the phone with a troubled expression, Yvette felt a wave of concern wash over her. She blinked up at him. "What happened?"
Albert chuckled softly and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. "There's an event tonight. Would you like to come with me?"
"What kind of event?"
"A product launch." Albert glanced at his watch. "It's something BoBo's been excited about—I promised to take him."
"BoBo's going today?" Yvette looked at Albert in surprise. "How did I not know about this?"
"It's a man-to-man arrangement."
Yvette's curiosity was piqued. "Is it a new car launch?"
"Exactly."
That explained everything! Despite being more mature than most kids his age, BoBo couldn't resist his fascination with cars. His room was practically a shrine to toy car models—taking him to a car launch was clearly Albert's way of connecting with his son's interests.
Yvette nodded. "Then I'll come with you."
In the dressing room, bathed in soft, warm lighting, Yvette stood before the mirror wearing a white dress. Her brow furrowed slightly as she studied her reflection, uncertainty flickering in her eyes.
The dress was undeniably beautiful and suited her style perfectly, but it seemed designed for someone petite—on Yvette's frame, it barely covered her upper thighs. Feeling self-conscious, she bit her lower lip and decided to try something else.
Looking down, she called out softly, "Honey, are you still there? Could you help me with something?"
Her voice carried through the dressing room door. Moments later, the door opened and someone stepped inside.
Without looking back, Yvette tugged at the zipper. "Could you help me with this zipper? This dress is too short for me—I should try something else."
The person behind her moved closer, carefully adjusting the zipper with gentle, reverent touches, as if handling a priceless work of art. Yet something felt different—Yvette could sense an intense gaze burning into her back, making her skin tingle with heat.
Clutching the dress to her chest, she turned around. "Thank you, could you please hand me—"
Her words died in her throat. It was Albert standing there, his dark eyes boldly drinking in the sight of her décolletage. That same brazen gaze had been caressing her bare back moments before.
"How is it you?"
Albert was already dressed in an impeccably tailored suit that accentuated his physique perfectly, making him look devastatingly handsome. He raised an eyebrow with mock innocence. "What? Were you hoping for someone else to walk in?"
Yvette glanced around, searching for her intended helper. "Where's the stylist?"
"The stylist? Is that who you were calling for?"
Yvette nodded. "Yes."
"I heard you call 'honey.'" Albert's expression was the picture of innocence. "I assumed you wanted me to help you."
Before the car launch began, guests were invited to explore the showroom featuring previous models. While Yvette knew little about cars, BoBo was practically vibrating with excitement.
"Mommy! So many of my favorite cars are here! Do you want to look around too?" BoBo's eyes were bright with enthusiasm.
"Of course, I'll come with you." Yvette smiled down at him. "How come you didn't bring CiCi along?"
"CiCi said she wanted to sleep. She doesn't like these kinds of places and didn't want to come." BoBo spoke with the earnestness of someone far beyond his years. "I can't force CiCi to do things she doesn't enjoy."
Yvette ruffled his hair affectionately. "Since you love it so much, take all the time you need to look around."
"Great!"
Despite her encouraging words, Yvette felt a flutter of concern. Her body hadn't fully recovered yet, and the massive exhibition space would be physically demanding. Just as worry began to creep in, Albert strode over from his networking obligations.
"BoBo, are you planning to take Mommy on the full car tour?"
"Yes! Mommy said she'd come with me!" BoBo's eyes sparkled with pure joy, a far cry from his usual composed, adult-like demeanor.
Albert moved to Yvette's side, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her close. He looked down at BoBo with gentle concern. "But your mommy's still recovering. Are you sure you want her walking all that way?"
The moment Albert finished speaking, BoBo's bright smile faltered. Yvette's heart clenched—she couldn't bear to disappoint him.
BoBo looked up at Albert, then at Yvette, his young mind clearly working through the dilemma. "Mommy, maybe you could find somewhere comfortable to rest? I'll take pictures of my favorite cars to show you later?"
"Pictures for me? You don't need me to come along?" Yvette crouched down to meet his eye level. "Won't you be disappointed?"
"Not at all, Mommy." BoBo pressed his lips together in a shy smile, reaching for her hand. "Daddy probably knows much more about cars anyway."
Yvette caught the excitement dancing in BoBo's eyes, mixed with barely concealed bashfulness. She put on an exaggerated pout. "So now that you have Daddy, you don't need Mommy anymore?"
"Of course not!" BoBo's expression turned serious. "Mommy is the most important thing in the world, but Mommy's health is important too!"
"Alright, I was just teasing." Yvette's face softened as she cupped his cheek. "Go have the time of your life!"
"I will!" BoBo reached for Albert's hand. "Daddy will take good care of me, won't you?"
"Absolutely." Albert leaned down to kiss Yvette's forehead. "Vincent will be here soon to help you find somewhere to rest, okay?"
"Perfect."
Yvette watched the father and son walk hand-in-hand toward the exhibition hall, their silhouettes filling her heart with overwhelming warmth. She desperately wanted these blissful moments to last forever.
But life rarely grants such wishes.
As these thoughts swirled through her mind, a familiar female voice cut through the air behind her.
"Yvette, it's been far too long."
Yvette's body went rigid. She turned slowly, her heart sinking as she came face-to-face with someone she'd hoped never to see again.
It was Violet.
