Chapter 614 Their Intentions

The afternoon sun was exceptionally bright, and BoBo and CiCi had coaxed Yvette into joining them for an art session.

Golden rays streamed through the windows, casting a warm glow across the children's faces as they bent over their drawings, creating a picture of perfect tranquility.

Yvette sat across from BoBo and CiCi, her face soft with contentment as she watched their every movement.

In this moment, it felt as though the entire world had narrowed to just the three of them, suspended in this bubble of domestic bliss.

The scene filled Yvette's heart with warmth, and she couldn't help but smile. As long as she could be here with BoBo and CiCi like this, everything felt perfectly right with the world.

Then, without warning, a wave of discomfort crashed over her. The smile froze on Yvette's face as her complexion turned ashen, beads of perspiration forming on her forehead. She tried to push through the pain, but her distress was impossible to hide.

BoBo and CiCi immediately sensed something was wrong. They set down their brushes and looked up with worried eyes.

"Mommy, what's wrong?" CiCi asked, her voice thick with concern.

Yvette shook her head gently, forcing a weak smile. "It's nothing, sweetheart. I'm just a little warm and probably haven't had enough water."

Though she tried to reassure them, her voice betrayed her weakness and vulnerability.

BoBo and CiCi exchanged a meaningful glance, then nodded to each other as if reaching some unspoken agreement. They both dropped their brushes simultaneously, and BoBo stepped forward to wrap his small arms around Yvette.

"Mommy, are you tired from spending time with us? You need to rest," he said softly.

"Yes, Mommy, you must be exhausted. Come on, let's get you comfortable on the couch," CiCi added, taking Yvette's hand and gently guiding her to the sofa.

Yvette knew her children had always been naturally caring souls. She wanted to comfort them, but the tightness in her chest made it difficult to speak. She frowned slightly as she settled back against the cushions.

BoBo helped Yvette sit down, then immediately fetched a glass of water, carrying it over with both hands.

"Mommy, are you thirsty? Please drink some water!" he said, his small fingers gripping the glass carefully as he offered it to her.

The sight of his earnest little face touched Yvette deeply. She accepted the glass and sipped slowly, the warm liquid soothing her throat and actually making her feel considerably better.

BoBo and CiCi gathered around Yvette, their small hands gently stroking her face. Their eyes were filled with such genuine concern and worry, as if nothing in the world mattered more than their mother's wellbeing.

Yvette took a deep breath, surprised to find that her symptoms were actually subsiding without needing her medication. Her color gradually returned to normal, but seeing BoBo and CiCi still watching her with anxious expressions, she spoke up. "Don't worry anymore, my darlings."

"Mommy, are you feeling better now?" BoBo and CiCi asked in unison.

"Much better, thank you for taking such good care of me." Yvette pulled both children into her arms. "Having you two with me makes me the luckiest mother in the world."

At her words, BoBo and CiCi burrowed deeper into her embrace. "And we're the luckiest children in the world!"

Just then, the front door suddenly opened. Yvette, BoBo, and CiCi all looked up to see Albert striding in. He removed his coat and draped it quietly over the back of the sofa, as if reluctant to disturb this peaceful moment.

"You're home early today," Yvette said with surprise.

"Yes, I am." Albert approached them, and though his expression showed fatigue, his eyes were bright and his mood seemed good.

BoBo and CiCi were delighted by Albert's early return. "Daddy! You're home!"

"I managed to wrap up most of the urgent matters ahead of schedule and left the finishing touches to the team. I wanted to come home early to spend time with you all," Albert said, his voice low and gentle.

CiCi blinked curiously. "Did you leave all your work for Uncle Vincent?"

Albert nodded. "That's right."

CiCi said seriously, "Then next time he comes to our house, I want to give him one of my drawings."

"Give him a drawing?" Albert asked. "Why's that?"

CiCi smiled brightly. "Because he's working so hard!"

Albert chuckled and ruffled CiCi's hair. "I'm sure he'd be thrilled."

After playing with Albert for a while, BoBo and CiCi remembered their unfinished artwork and hurried back to their seats to continue painting.

Only then did Yvette have a chance to properly ask Albert, "How did yesterday's situation turn out?"

Knowing she'd been worrying about it, Albert spoke reassuringly, "Don't worry. Rumors about tension between my brother and me have been circulating for ages—David's comments are just adding fuel to an old fire. You know I've never cared about public opinion."

"I know, but..." Yvette bit her lip, her voice tinged with worry. "I'm afraid they might use this as ammunition, turning public sentiment into a weapon for their own agenda."

Albert raised an eyebrow, studying Yvette intently. "What kind of agenda do you think they have in mind?"

Yvette pressed her lips together, clearly conflicted. She had already hinted to Albert yesterday about keeping an eye on David, but he didn't seem to be taking it entirely seriously.

After a moment's consideration, she said carefully, "David and Violet are both the type of people who'll stop at nothing to get what they want. There's no way they have genuine feelings for each other, and it's impossible that their relationship could have developed to the point of engagement or marriage in such a short time."

Albert nodded thoughtfully. "Go on."

"If they really are planning to get engaged or married, they must have some ulterior motive." Yvette exhaled slowly. "I've been thinking about it, and I can't help but wonder—could they be plotting together to take your position?"

Albert's gaze grew deep and focused as he looked at Yvette with surprise. Suddenly, he reached out and pulled her onto his lap, holding her close.

Yvette's eyes flashed with surprise, but she quickly relaxed against Albert's chest, feeling his heartbeat and warmth.

"You're absolutely right," Albert said, his voice a low rumble. "He is making moves in that direction."

The vibration of his voice against her cheek sent pleasant shivers through Yvette. She looked up at him with alarm. "So what are you planning to do about it?"
