Chapter 414 Business Trip Together

"Mummy..." The door to the children's room suddenly opened, and CiCi stood at the doorway, rubbing her eyes and looking at them sleepily.

Yvette was taken aback, and the air in the living room instantly froze, as if it was a suffocating silence.

Yvette pretended to be nonchalant, got up from the sofa, and walked towards CiCi with a gentle smile."CiCi, you're awake? Why don't you sleep a little longer?" Yvette tried to make her voice sound calm, even with a hint of tenderness.

She looked down at CiCi, her eyes flickering with worry and panic, but she still tried to maintain her composure.

CiCi blinked and looked at Yvette, then at Albert, her eyes filled with innocent curiosity.

CiCi seemed unaware of the tension. "What were you talking about just now?"

CiCi's innocent, naive face made Yvette feel a bit relieved, as it seemed she hadn't heard their argument and wouldn't be affected.

Yvette smiled, trying to maintain her smile, but her eyes were filled with undisguised worry. "We were discussing whether to wake you up for breakfast."

CiCi excitedly raised her little hand. "Mummy, I woke up without you calling me! I want breakfast!"

At that moment, BoBo came out of the room, his young face showing a hint of seriousness. He frowned slightly and walked over to Yvette, waving at her.

Yvette bent down, and BoBo whispered in her ear, "Mummy, did you have a fight with him?"

Even though Yvette and Albert had kept their voices low, BoBo, being a sensitive and smart child, still heard their argument.

Yvette guiltily patted BoBo's head. "Why do you ask?"

"I heard the noise." BoBo's eyes were filled with unease and confusion.

"Oh, we were just discussing some things. It's all fine now," Yvette said softly. "Mummy didn't come home to sleep last night and didn't tell you in advance. That was my fault, I'm sorry."

BoBo glanced warily at Albert and said to Yvette, "Mummy, was he worried about you?"

Yvette was stunned.

BoBo continued, "Actually, CiCi and I were worried about you yesterday too, but the servants said someone would protect you, so we didn't worry. But Mummy, please let us know you're safe next time, so we don't worry, okay?"

Yvette's eyes welled up slightly. "Okay, I understand, BoBo."

Yvette stood up, and when she looked back, Albert was no longer in the same spot.

In the afternoon, Yvette packed her bag, preparing to take the two children out to play.

Recalling Albert's harsh words to her, Yvette felt a bit uneasy.

She didn't want to be stopped by bodyguards in front of the children.

But to Yvette's surprise, she left the house smoothly.

It seemed Albert wasn't planning to lock her up again for now.

Yvette took the children to the zoo.

Children seemed to particularly enjoy interacting with animals. As soon as they arrived at the zoo, they were extremely excited, their round eyes filled with anticipation and curiosity.

Yvette smiled as she watched them. With the children around, she felt a bit more relaxed.

On the way back, the two children chattered about the animals they had seen at the zoo, making the car very lively.

Just then, Yvette's phone rang. It was Albert.

Yvette thought for a moment and answered, "What's up?"

Albert's calm voice came from the other end of the line. "Where are you?"

Yvette pursed her lips, thinking Albert's question was unnecessary.

She chuckled lightly, her voice tinged with sarcasm and self-mockery. "Didn't your bodyguards tell you my location?"

Yvette's sarcasm didn't affect Albert at all.

Albert didn't deny the accusation of having bodyguards follow her, nor did he try to hide it.

Albert's tone was indifferent. "I'll contact the driver directly. Once you get home and settle the kids, I'll come pick you up."

"Pick me up?" Yvette was puzzled. "Where to?"

He answered, "The proposal you made for the Eldoria branch is already in progress. We have a flight to Eldoria at ten tonight."

Yvette was taken aback. "A business trip? Don't you have Vincent? Why do you need me to go with you?"

"Vincent has other matters to attend to. This time, you're the one assigned." Albert's voice was firm, giving Yvette no room to refuse.

Yvette was displeased, and a surge of anger rose within her. "Albert!"

Yvette shouted angrily, but then noticed BoBo and CiCi looking at her curiously.

Yvette took a deep breath, trying to suppress her emotions. She didn't want the children to always see them arguing.

She lowered her voice. "Are you doing this on purpose?"

He knew very well that the colleagues at the Eldoria branch all thought she was Jessica, David's wife.

Now he wanted to take her on a business trip, making her appear as Albert's wife, Yvette. Wasn't he deliberately causing trouble and making her embarrassed?

Albert didn't admit it, but he didn't deny it either. He simply said, "You used to work at the Eldoria branch and know the employees there. Plus, you made the proposal, so it's more convenient to take you."

Yvette opened her mouth to argue but didn't know what to say.

After all, every word Albert said was about taking her on a legitimate business trip.

She had spent a long time working on that proposal, and no one knew it better than she did. She was naturally more familiar with the division of labor and arrangements for the Eldoria branch employees than Albert.

Yvette bit her lip, making a futile struggle. "I've neglected the kids for a while because I was taking care of you. Now I want to spend more time with them and don't want to work anymore."

Yvette continued, "If you're only looking for me because Vincent can't go, I think the Valdemar Group is big enough to find someone else to accompany you on the trip and help you follow up on the project, right?"

"That's exactly why I chose you," Albert said in a deep voice. "You planned this project, and you haven't resigned from the Valdemar Group. This is your job."

"Who said it's my job?" Yvette frowned. "Jessica hasn't resigned from the Valdemar Group. Are you asking me to continue being Jessica?"
