Chapter 588 Asking Cheryl for Help
Yvette's hands trembled slightly as she clutched her phone, worry etched across her face.
She had only managed to say "Grandma" before falling silent again.
Was it really appropriate to bother Cheryl over a minor conflict between children at kindergarten?
Cheryl, sensing Yvette's hesitation, softened her tone. "Yvette, dear, is something the matter?"
"Grandma," Yvette began, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "There's a small favor I'd like to ask of you."
"Of course, go ahead." Cheryl chuckled softly. "After you helped me by bringing Albert to Hayden's memorial anniversary, I'm deeply grateful. Don't feel any pressure—I'm happy to help with whatever you need."
Yvette relaxed slightly. "Thank you, Grandma."
"No need for thanks. Besides, you're part of the Valdemar Family. You can always come to me," Cheryl reassured her.
Hesitating briefly, Yvette gathered her thoughts before explaining. "BoBo and CiCi had a confrontation with some children at kindergarten. I was hoping you might intervene and help resolve the situation."
Cheryl's heart tightened. "Is it serious? Are the children hurt?"
"No, no, they're fine," Yvette sighed. "This is actually my fault. I should have told them about their background sooner. Then they wouldn't have been teased by other children and felt the need to retaliate."
Cheryl's voice grew stern. "Is that what happened? Has the other party apologized?"
"They've refused to apologize, and BoBo and CiCi are quite upset about it. That's why I thought to ask for your help," Yvette explained carefully. "Vincent has gone with Albert to Eldoria, so I had no choice but to ask you to contact their family."
"What exactly would you like me to do, Yvette?" Cheryl asked cautiously.
This matter was crucial for the children's emotional development and could potentially affect them for years to come. Moreover, it concerned the reputation of the Valdemar Family.
Cheryl was determined to handle the situation properly, but as it involved children, she wanted to follow Yvette's lead as their mother.
"That child and their parents must apologize to BoBo and CiCi," Yvette stated firmly.
With Yvette's clear directive, Cheryl smiled with satisfaction. Now she could take action.
"Such a small matter, and yet you were so hesitant to ask?" Cheryl said with a warm laugh. "BoBo and CiCi are my great-grandchildren and the most precious members of the Valdemar Family. Standing up for them is my duty as their great-grandmother."
Yvette's tense heart finally relaxed. "Thank you, Grandma. BoBo and CiCi will be grateful too."
After hanging up, Yvette exhaled deeply. She knew this apology was vital for her children, and they needed to hear it. Even if it seemed like overkill, with Cheryl's help, the matter would certainly be resolved.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the children's voices behind her. "Mommy! Come quick!"
"Coming!" Yvette called back.
Eldoria
The plane descended gracefully like a great bird gliding through the night sky. As they lost altitude, the details of the ground became clearer, with airport lights twinkling in welcome.
When the wheels touched the runway, a slight rumble vibrated through the aircraft before it came to a smooth stop at the gate.
Albert checked his phone as the signal returned. Noting the time, he realized it would be around 9 or 10 PM back home—just when the children would be in bed and Yvette preparing for sleep herself.
Taking advantage of the moment, Albert dialed her number.
"Landed safely?" Yvette whispered from the other end.
Her hushed tone caught Albert by surprise, causing him to lower his voice instinctively. "Are you putting the kids to bed?"
"Yes," she replied with a touch of resignation. "They're a bit excited tonight. Still not asleep."
Yvette glanced down at BoBo and CiCi, their eyes fighting to stay open, and felt a complex wave of emotions. All evening, the children had bombarded her with questions about Albert, forcing her to revisit countless memories of their time together.
It suddenly struck Yvette how she and Albert seemed bound by some invisible thread of fate.
Perhaps her voice had risen slightly, because BoBo, nearly asleep, suddenly forced his eyes open and looked up at her.
Yvette caught her breath, quickly setting down the phone to gently pat BoBo's back. "There, there, sweetheart. Time to sleep," she murmured.
Her soothing voice flowed like a gentle stream, calming the child's restlessness while traveling through the phone to Albert's ears.
Despite the bustle of passengers disembarking around him, Albert could clearly hear Yvette's patience and tenderness.
A smile tugged at his lips as he pictured the familiar scene: Yvette patting their child's back, softly humming a lullaby, her face serene in the dim light.
The call remained connected as Albert listened quietly to Yvette comforting their children.
Time passed, and the plane had fully docked before he finally heard Yvette pick up the phone again.
"You're still there?" she asked.
"I am," Albert replied, his voice deep and warm. "I was waiting for you. Are they asleep now?"
"This time I think they really are," Yvette breathed out with relief. "I hope so, anyway."
Albert chuckled softly, a barely perceptible happiness lighting his features. "I've landed safely. Getting off the plane now."
Though simple, his words carried the weight of his affection and warmth.
"Take care on your way, and get some rest when you reach the hotel," she said.
"I will."
Though neither had spoken words of endearment, their voices carried a warmth that allowed them to understand each other's hearts perfectly.
Standing nearby, Vincent watched with fascination as Albert—a man known for his serious demeanor—smiled while taking the call. That typically stern face had softened considerably, like winter frost melting under unexpected sunshine.
Even after ending the call, Albert's lips remained curved upward.
Vincent's eyes betrayed his amusement, darting between Albert and the phone with knowing looks.
Perhaps sensing the scrutiny, Albert instantly reverted to his usual severity and shot Vincent a glance. "Something to say?"
"Not at all!" Vincent quickly replied.
