Chapter 404 Albert's Hesitation to Speak
BoBo and CiCi ran back to the living room with their little wet hands, laughing.
Yvette followed closely behind them, pretending to be angry with a smile. "You two little kids, running around without drying your hands! Come here!"
Yvette caught up with the two children, dried their hands, and led them to the dining table.
"Don't touch everything after washing your hands, it's time to eat!" Yvette said, and when she turned around, she found that the things she had bought and temporarily placed on the sofa were gone.
Yvette asked Beatrice, "Beatrice, where are the things I bought?"
It was just an ordinary question, but Beatrice suddenly became a little nervous and started to stammer.
"Well... I, I just saw that you had piled them here, so I put them back in your room." Beatrice glanced at Yvette secretly. "I didn't know what you bought them for, so I didn't organize them. You can check and arrange them..."
Yvette gave Beatrice a strange look. "It's okay, I'll organize them myself later."
"Okay." Beatrice nodded and hurriedly tried to leave.
But after taking a few steps, she suddenly stopped, as if summoning great courage. "Mrs. Valdemar, when I took the things you bought to your room, I ran into Mr. Valdemar."
After saying that, Beatrice didn't wait for Yvette to respond and quickly went to the kitchen to get the utensils.
Yvette was puzzled by her seemingly random statement, but before she could think it through, CiCi's childish voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Mommy, when can BoBo and I try on the clothes you bought for us?" CiCi looked up, her round eyes filled with anticipation. "Did you buy me a pretty dress, Mommy?"
"Of course." Yvette's thoughts were pulled away by CiCi, and she said along with her, "I even got you a pair of matching shoes."
"Wow, my mommy must be the best mommy in the world!!" CiCi exclaimed excitedly.
"What are you talking about?" A deep voice came, and Yvette was slightly stunned. When she turned around, she met Albert's deep eyes.
There was an emotion in his eyes that Yvette couldn't quite understand.
Yvette lowered her gaze and didn't answer him, but CiCi, who couldn't keep her mouth shut, spoke up, "Mommy bought lots of things for BoBo and me! And toys and gifts, we both love them so much!"
CiCi's sweet voice softened Albert's expression considerably.
"Really?" Albert's lips curved slightly, and he turned to Yvette, asking her, "Did you go shopping this afternoon?"
His sudden concern made Yvette a little uncomfortable. "Yes."
"Did you take them with you?" Albert glanced at his watch. "Didn't they just get out of school?"
"I went by myself." Yvette answered softly. "I went to the mall before picking them up."
"Did you buy new clothes and gifts for the kids?" after saying that, Albert paused, as if he had more to say.
Yvette looked at Albert suspiciously, feeling that he was acting strangely today, but she couldn't pinpoint what was wrong.
Sensing Yvette's gaze, Albert didn't avoid it; instead, he met her eyes.
Just as Albert was about to say something, the housekeeper came out with the dishes, interrupting their conversation.
Seeing Albert stop his questioning and start playing with BoBo and CiCi, Yvette suddenly felt a sense of relief.
What was he trying to say?
A ray of sunset light shone in, casting a warm orange hue over the entire dining room.
BoBo and CiCi sat across from Albert and Yvette, their faces beaming with innocent smiles.
BoBo had already started using a fork, though not very skillfully, he was still focused on enjoying his delicious dinner. CiCi stared at the meat on her plate with shining eyes, using a spoon.
Their good table manners allowed Yvette to relax and enjoy her meal without having to worry about them.
The aroma of the food filled the dining room, and this moment of happiness and warmth seemed to be frozen in this charming evening.
Yvette watched BoBo and CiCi eat seriously, then glanced at Albert. The three faces, so similar, filled her with an indescribable sense of satisfaction.
At this moment, Albert suddenly turned his head slightly, and their eyes met in the air.
Albert, as if finally seizing an opportunity, didn't give Yvette a chance to avoid and suddenly spoke, "Which mall did you go to this afternoon to buy their clothes?"
Yvette suppressed her confusion and answered, "Just at the nearby mall. It's the change of season, and their old clothes were getting small, so I bought them some new ones."
Yvette frowned, wondering if he was unhappy that she had left the house during her confinement and even went shopping.
But Yvette quickly dismissed that thought.
If Albert hadn't lifted her confinement, she wouldn't have been able to leave the house at all.
Various thoughts flashed through Yvette's mind, but she couldn't make sense of any of them.
Albert nodded. "And then? What else did you do?"
Yvette blinked. "What do you want to ask?"
Albert paused, then pretended nothing had happened and continued eating. "I'm just asking casually."
Hearing him say it was just a casual question, Yvette didn't plan to answer.
But as soon as she lowered her head, she heard his probing voice again. "After buying their things, did you go straight to pick them up?"
Yvette finally couldn't bear it and glared at him. "If you have something to say, just say it, okay?"
Albert ended up saying nothing.
Recalling his odd behavior earlier, Yvette grew more puzzled. Albert was not the type to ask irrelevant questions.
From a distance, Yvette saw Albert playing happily with BoBo and CiCi in the yard through the large floor-to-ceiling windows, and a complex emotion surged in her heart.
Beatrice was cleaning up the dining table behind her. Yvette turned around and tentatively asked, "What did you mean when you said you ran into Albert?"
Beatrice paused in her cleaning, her expression troubled.
Yvette immediately sensed something was wrong and pressed her lips together. "Don't worry, just tell me, I won't tell him."
"Well..." Beatrice thought for a moment, then finally bit the bullet. "Mrs. Valdemar, Mr. Valdemar saw the tie you bought and asked if it was from you. He seemed a bit unhappy..."
