Chapter 236 Chips

Albert shot David a dirty look, then wrapped his arm around Yvette's shoulder and steered her towards the parking lot.

Albert's words made David's face darken, and Yvette was left speechless.

After being dragged a few steps, Yvette finally snapped out of it. She glanced back at David, her face full of worry and apology.

Turning back, Yvette asked, annoyed, "Albert, do you even realize what you just said?"

"Yeah, I know." Albert didn't even look at her as he led her to the parking lot. "What? You don't wanna talk about this stuff in front of David?"

"How can you be so crass?" Yvette was both embarrassed and angry.

Albert's voice was icy, "Aren't you supposed to give the Valdemar family a kid? Shouldn't you be happy I wanna have a baby with you?"

By now, they had reached Albert's car.

Milton opened the door for them and respectfully said, "Mr. and Mrs. Valdemar, please.""

Yvette swallowed the words she was about to say. She shot Albert a restrained look and got into the back seat.

Both of them were fuming and didn't say a word the whole ride.

The car was silent except for the sound of their alcohol-laden breaths.

Yvette turned her head to look out the window. The night was deep, and there weren't many cars on the road. Occasionally, a car would zoom by, disappearing in a flash.

The aftereffects of the alcohol brought not only dizziness but also drowsiness.

Yvette closed her eyes and leaned against the window, her mind replaying the increasingly absurd but unstoppable events between her and Albert.

From the start, she had tried her best to stay by Albert's side, just to catch a glimpse of him and be a bit closer. Later, she got greedy, wanting his love, and started feeling jealousy and possessiveness—emotions she shouldn't have had.

But from beginning to end, Albert never loved her.

That much was clear.

Yvette slowly exhaled.

Just hold on a little longer, until she fulfilled her agreement with James, and then she could leave all these emotionally draining things behind.

When they got back to the Valdemar estate, it was already early morning.

Cheryl had gone to bed early after washing up. James and Lisa were still out socializing, seemingly not planning to come back all night.

Yvette dragged her tired body upstairs to rest. She pressed the elevator button, and the door opened in front of her.

Just as Yvette was about to step in, the elevator wall reflected Albert's tall figure.

Was he coming up too?

Thinking about what had happened in the hotel room, Yvette stopped in her tracks, blocking Albert.

She didn't want a repeat of what had just happened. This time, she might not be so lucky; no one would show up to interrupt them.

Yvette frowned slightly, letting the elevator door open and close, blocking Albert without moving.

She looked up at him, her tone carrying a hint of questioning, "Are you coming up too?"

"Yeah." Albert raised an eyebrow in displeasure, asking, "Got a problem?"

"Yeah." Yvette pressed her lips together, stating, "Since you hate me so much, why follow me upstairs?"

Albert sneered, looking down at her with a smirk, "Didn't I tell you? I'm here to make a baby."

Yvette looked at him, half-believing, trying to keep her emotions in check. She gave him one last reminder, "Didn't you say you wouldn't let the Valdemar family's blood be tainted with my 'inferior genes'? If you don't want a kid with me, just keep up appearances for your father. We can be a couple in name only."

Albert's face darkened at her words.

He pressed the elevator button, and the door, already on the first floor, opened instantly. Without giving Yvette a chance to resist, he grabbed her waist with a bit of force and lifted her up.

"What are you doing?" Yvette whispered in shock.

Albert's lips tightened as he carried her back to the room.

All day, Albert's behavior had left Yvette confused.

It wasn't until she was thrown onto the bed that she realized he wasn't joking about having a kid with her.

Albert moved closer, covering her body. She immediately felt the pressure and put her arms in front of her chest, trying to keep some distance.

Yvette tilted her face up, making one last confirmation. "Albert, do you really want to have a kid with me? If we have a child, you won't be able to divorce me!"

The alcohol seemed to have taken over Albert's rationality, making his eyes flash with a sinister light.

Albert hadn't expected Yvette still wanted a divorce. Clearly, she had planned to stay for Hayden's inheritance.

David. It all came back to David.

Albert's jaw tightened, the veins on his temples bulging with suppressed anger. He stared at Yvette, gritting his teeth, "You want a divorce to be with David? Yvette, have you forgotten that his inheritance isn't even half of mine?"

No matter how much Yvette had prepared herself, Albert's words still hurt.

"So what?" Yvette looked steadily at Albert, retorting, "All your money can't buy David's character."

Albert's face grew darker, the tension around him palpable. Hearing Yvette's words, he almost confirmed his suspicions.

Yvette wanted a divorce to be with David.

Thinking of David's past provocations, Albert's breathing became rapid and heavy.

Extremely angry, Albert grabbed Yvette's waist and, with emotion, tore off her clothes.

He sneered, "Do you think after the divorce, David would marry a divorced woman like you?"

Yvette replied coldly, "That's none of your business!"

She tried to avoid Albert's actions, but his strength was too great. Pinned down, Yvette could hardly move, only able to let Albert continue touching her skin.

In a few moves, Albert had torn off all of Yvette's clothes. He pressed her down forcefully, making her look at him. Yvette was so ashamed she almost cried.

Albert lowered his body, his gaze fixed on Yvette's expression as she bit her lip in discomfort. In a hoarse voice, he whispered in her ear, "A woman like you, who uses marriage as a bargaining chip for money, still dreams of marrying my brother after divorcing me? Dream on!"
