Chapter 78 Albert Would Have Nothing to Do with Her Anymore
Three days had passed, and Violet still found it hard to accept everything that had happened.
The housekeeper knocked on the door with a troubled expression. "Violet, it's time to eat."
After waiting for a long time, there was still no response.
Violet had not left her room for three days. The housekeeper sighed, thinking today's meal would be wasted again.
In her room, Violet covered her head with a pillow, refusing any contact with the outside world.
She still couldn't believe what had happened that day.
When Yvette was being aggressive, Albert offered to take her home, and she was ecstatic.
Between her and Yvette, Albert chose her.
They walked to the underground garage together, and he took her to get the car.
The whole way, she kept thinking about how to respond when he explained things to her, wanting to appear magnanimous and draw him closer.
But before Violet could be happy, Albert turned around.
His handsome face was hard-lined and serious, clearly not about to say anything pleasant.
He stopped, and there was a distance between them.
"I think we need to clear some things up." said Albert, after a moment of silence.
Violet felt a sense of foreboding.
She instinctively began to resist, stepping back not wanting to hear what he had to say next, but Albert had already spoken.
"From now on, don't contact Yvette."
His voice was slightly low, seemingly without emotion, just a statement, but it instantly widened the gap between them.
"Why?" Violet asked in disbelief.
Albert still had that serious expression, looking at her intently, and said seriously, "I'm married now. She is my wife, the mother of my future children. This relationship won't change in the short term."
"Married," "wife," "mother of my future children"—these words left Violet stunned, feeling like she couldn't breathe.
"What do you mean?" Violet clenched her hands tightly. She actually understood what he meant but just couldn't accept it. She kept asking, hoping he would change his mind.
But it was clear Albert would not grant her wish.
"We ended things two years ago. If you want, we can still be friends. If not, I can leave your life."
Violet's body began to tremble uncontrollably. She couldn't believe these words were coming from Albert's mouth, and she couldn't believe he wanted to end their relationship because of Yvette.
But he had clearly said before that he didn't like her.
Violet's eyes reddened as she asked in disbelief, "Albert, do you know what you're saying?"
Albert said, "I know what I'm saying, and I believe you understand it too."
Violet asked, "How can you just decide everything like this?"
Albert frowned. "When we broke up, you decided it the same way."
Violet stubbornly looked at him, accusing in disbelief. "I wasn't sincere! I just wanted you to comfort me."
In the past, whenever she cried, he would apologize. Now, as she cried and complained, he just looked at her quietly.
The greatest pain came from the contrast.
Violet took out the necklace he had given her before, trembling as she held it up in front of Albert, making one last attempt to pull at his emotions.
She asked, crying, "Albert, are you really going to completely abandon your former promises?"
Albert glanced at her coldly and took a step back. "I'm sorry."
Violet kept replaying this scene in her mind, and that final cold "I'm sorry" made her heart ache intensely.
Violet clutched her chest, enduring the suffocating pain, and finally couldn't help but burst into tears.
Violet woke up again, being roused by her parents.
Her mom and dad were looking at her with concern.
Her father Terry Swift looked at her worriedly. "I heard you haven't eaten anything for a whole day and night?"
Seeing that she didn't respond, Terry turned around and glared at his wife Miller Swift reproachfully. "What kind of mother are you? How could you not know your daughter isn't eating or drinking?"
Miller also felt sorry for her daughter, but hearing such reproachful words, she retorted unhappily, "Didn't you know I was on a business trip?"
Terry knew arguing with his wife was pointless and said angrily, "It must be because of Albert! I'll call his dad right now!"
"Dad!" Hearing her dad said he would call Albert's dad, Violet panicked.
She got up from the bed and hurriedly stopped him, "Don't! Albert hates it the most when I have any contact with his family. Please don't call!"
Terry frowned. "What's going on with you? You have to let us know, or your mom and I will just be worried and unable to help you at all!"
"Yeah, if something's wrong, tell us. Did you have a fight with Albert?" Miller also asked with concern.
Hearing her parents' concerned words, Violet finally couldn't hold it in anymore. "Stop asking."
"How can we help you if we don't know what's going on?"
Violet's expression was desperate. "You can't help me anymore. We broke up two years ago!"
Miller was puzzled. "Didn't you say you were getting back together?"
"No," Violet choked up, "he's married to someone else."
Violet's parents were shocked and almost spoke in unison, "When did he get married? Does his family know?"
"These questions don't matter anymore." Violet painfully bit her lip. "What matters is, he doesn't want to be with me anymore."
Yvette was able to take a break at home during work hours.
Two days ago, she had mentioned resigning to her boss. As expected, her boss didn't approve it, thinking she was just too tired from working overtime and gave her a few days off.
Yvette didn't want to explain and just went home to rest, considering it a break for herself.
Yvette took out her old medical records and notes. Even if Mr. Wilson wrote her a recommendation letter, the interview and evaluation period were still important, and she didn't want to embarrass her mentor.
At that moment, her phone rang abruptly.
Seeing the Facebook notification from "Sylvia" on the screen, she clicked on it.
Sylvia: [Yvette, special news—Albert has been coming to the center for three days in a row!]
Seeing the name "Albert" suddenly, Yvette instinctively frowned.
Yvette: [What does that have to do with me?]
Sylvia: [He wants to see you.]
Yvette instinctively denied: [He has a lot of flight missions, just routine check-ups.]
Sylvia: [That's impossible. It's not like his flight missions just increased in the past few days.]
Sylvia concluded: [I think he's definitely here to see you.]
Yvette's lips turned down slightly, and she put away her phone.
She didn't reply again and didn't want to think about it anymore.
Albert had nothing to do with her anymore.
