Chapter 84 A $100,000 Service

Albert's tone wasn't harsh, but the coldness in his eyes clearly displayed his displeasure at the moment.

Yvette didn't want to argue with him any further and just glanced at him indifferently.

Yvette shook her head, her gaze calm and her voice soft. "I guess I won't go, right?"

Yvette turned a question into a statement with certainty.

The calmer and more stubbornly Yvette refused Albert, the angrier he became.

Seeing the indifferent look on Yvette's fair cheeks, Albert lost his restraint and blurted out hurtful words.

"Yvette, a $100,000 gift can't get you to attend a party with me?"

Yvette didn't expect Albert to bring up the gift. Such insulting words made her feel very embarrassed.

After a moment, Yvette lowered her gaze, her long lashes trembling slightly.

She paused, still looking calm, but couldn't help the sting in her heart.

"I understand." Yvette smiled, her slightly raised tone carrying an unmistakable self-mockery. "Then I naturally have to go. You paid, so of course, I'll provide the service."

Why didn't he just say that earlier?

If he had made it clear earlier that he just didn't want to waste the $100,000 gift, she would have obediently listened to him.

She almost thought he had feelings for her.

Albert clearly saw the sadness in her expression.

He wasn't that cold-hearted or ungentlemanly. After saying such words, he felt a bit regretful. He pursed his lips, about to explain, but Yvette spoke first.

"Do you have any other requests?" She smiled. "A hundred thousand dollars is quite a lot; you can make more demands."

The sarcasm was so evident that he didn't find it necessary to explain.

He said in a deep voice. "Dress nicely."

Yvette nodded. "In the future, if you have something to say, just say it directly. Don't do things that cause misunderstandings. If there's nothing else, I'll be going."

After speaking, Yvette no longer looked at Albert and turned to leave.

Watching Yvette's thin yet stubborn back, Albert frowned deeply. Even though he had won the argument, he felt a complete sense of defeat.

Albert's chiseled facial features were tightly drawn.

Even after Yvette's figure disappeared from sight, Albert stood there motionless.

He asked himself inwardly, 'Why did I say that earlier?'

Yvette opened the closet door, Albert's words echoed in her mind.

He wanted her to dress nicely, probably afraid she would embarrass him.

Of course, his ex-girlfriend, Violet, was an outstanding girl.

Yvette's gaze swept over the clothes in the closet, finally landing on a little black dress. She reached up, took it off the hanger, and held it up to look at it.

In Albert's eyes, Yvette wearing this dress should be considered beautiful, right? She remembered he seemed to have said something like that.

It was a bodycon black dress that made Yvette's skin look very fair. The slightly wide shoulder straps and fitted square neckline highlighted Yvette's slender neck and delicate shoulders.

When she bought this dress, she was just accompanying Sylvia shopping and saw it by chance. Yvette originally thought it was a bit too formal, but Sylvia said she was sometimes too conservative and plain and should buy some sexy dresses.

Yvette had no choice but to try it on in the fitting room, and to her surprise, it was stunning.

Not only did Sylvia praise her, but even the sales associates called over other staff to admire it. Under their various persuasions, Yvette, who couldn't handle too much enthusiasm, finally bought it.

But after buying it, she felt it was a bit too flashy and never found an occasion to wear it, so it stayed in the closet, never worn.

Until Albert gave her a concert ticket.

Yvette, feeling flattered, began to feel nervous. She had never been to a concert and didn't know what to wear, so she took out this dress, her only relatively elegant dress.

Although she always felt it was too formal and uncomfortable, it was her way of showing she valued the date.

Yvette remembered that day, she arrived at the agreed location nervously, not knowing if Albert would like her outfit.

Albert had arrived early, leaning against his car and smoking. She walked quietly, and it wasn't until she got close that he noticed her.

Turning around, Albert, who was smoking, didn't move for a long time. A flash of amazement appeared in his usually calm eyes but quickly disappeared, leaving Yvette unsure of his thoughts.

The concert hall was very dark. Yvette followed Albert to their seats, listening to music she didn't understand and watching subtitles she couldn't read, feeling bored and rubbing her arms.

The dress was pretty, but the hall's air conditioning was too cold, making her feel chilly.

Until a warm hand reached over, holding her cold, soft hand and gently massaging it.

Rather than her hand being surrounded by warmth, it was Yvette's heart that felt warm.

This was Albert's care and protection.

Albert's low, rich voice came to her ears. "Are you cold?"

Yvette nodded. "A little, but it's okay."

Yvette turned around and met Albert's eyes. She felt that at that moment, Albert wasn't as calm and composed as usual. From his eyes, she saw restlessness.

Albert asked her, "If you're cold, should we leave early?"

Yvette was stunned. "It's okay."

Before she finished speaking, Albert tightened his grip on her hand and then stood up to take her away.

They headed straight to a hotel, and before Yvette could react, she was already pressed against the wall by his tall body.

He whispered her name in her ear. "Yvette."

Yvette was kissed until she was dizzy. His dominant kisses almost consumed all her oxygen.

"What's wrong?" Yvette asked.

"You look very beautiful tonight," Albert replied.

All her nervousness throughout the night was answered at that moment.

He did like it.

Thinking of that night of passion was evidence of her irrationality.

She smoothed her dress and gathered her thoughts. No matter how much she thought about it, she had mistaken a man's sexual desire for affection.

Yvette stopped overthinking, put on the black dress, casually put her hair up, and found the earrings Albert had given her before. Instantly, she looked much more elegant.

Looking carefully in the mirror, Yvette noticed the dress didn't fit as well as before.

After getting pregnant, her hormones increased, and wearing this dress, she felt tight in the chest. Fortunately, she had lost some weight due to severe morning sickness, making her waist much slimmer.

Dressing up so elaborately was just to accompany Albert to a friend's party.

For his $100,000 gift, she was indeed providing excellent service.
