Chapter 19 What Is the Outcome?

When it came to divorcing Albert, Yvette's scheme was filled with intricate details, as if she had rehearsed it in her mind countless times before. Yvette was unaware of the inadvertent hints she let slip in her speech.

Sylvia remarked, "Stop beating around the bush. If you were truly capable, you wouldn't have deceived me and stayed entangled with him for two years."

Taking the stapler and heading out, Sylvia unexpectedly turned back, her gaze fixed on Yvette.

Sylvia remarked, "Yvette, if you want to let go of Albert, I will always support you."

Initially wearing a nonchalant smile, seemingly unconcerned about the idea of divorce, Yvette froze upon hearing Sylvia's words, unable to crack another joke.

As Sylvia departed, Yvette remained stuck, unable to shake off the impact of Sylvia's final statement. A subtle expression of dismay flickered across Yvette's face.

Give up on Albert? Yvette had contemplated breaking up with him more than once.

Yvette remembered it was the day after Valentine's Day. The streets still carried the warmth of the previous day's celebration.

Yvette stood by the floor-to-ceiling window of the hotel, her slender figure looking very lonely.

Rain kept falling on the glass window and then sliding down, blurring the night view downstairs like a galaxy.

Approaching Yvette, Albert reached out to draw the curtains shut, casting a dimness over the room.

Yvette studied his profile intently; Albert's sculpted, high-bridged nose and long, soft eyelashes shimmering in the light.

He appeared remarkably deceptive.

"Albert Valdemar," Yvette called out Albert's full name, trying to remain calm, "A friend introduced me to a man, and in the future, we will..."

Before Yvette could finish her sentence, Albert's warm breath suddenly approached, and he leaned down to silence Yvette, interrupting her from continuing.

That kiss was so lingering that it made Yvette's consciousness gradually blur; her once clear willpower instantly became muddled.

In the darkness, Albert effortlessly removed the barriers between him and Yvette, his cool hand touching her soft skin.

Leaning close to Yvette's ear, Albert exhaled hot breath as he spoke, landing on the most sensitive part behind her ear, causing her to shiver all over.

After the kiss, while Yvette's chest was still heaving, Albert casually asked, "Is your birthday coming up?"

Her breath hitched.

Yvette hadn't expected him to remember her birthday; she didn't know how to respond, so she lowered her head, not wanting Albert to see her touched expression.

Albert's hand continued to stroke Yvette's hair, feeling gentle yet flirtatious. Albert gazed quietly at Yvette, very close. His eyes were filled with desire.

It made it hard for Yvette to focus.

"You're 26 this year, right? You should be getting married soon," Albert's eyes were full of temptation as he smiled and said, "Continuing this uncertain relationship with me won't lead to a good outcome."

Albert's gaze pierced Yvette.

The walls Yvette had painstakingly built in her heart collapsed in an instant, leaving nothing behind.

Yvette felt foolish.

Despite knowing that Albert's intentions might just be regret for the casual encounters, Yvette still couldn't bring herself to leave him.

Even continuing to associate with Albert in this manner would lead Yvette down a path of perpetual moral decline.

What did Albert's words imply? Was marriage the outcome? Yet, even in marriage, two individuals may still part ways. Is it the outcome for two individuals to stay together until old age? Still, one of them will pass away eventually.

Human relationships inherently lack definitive outcomes.

At that moment, Yvette foolishly pondered that if she and Albert were destined to part ways eventually, she would cling to this relationship tightly until the moment of separation.

As time passed, Yvette and Albert's bond grew stronger, yet why did she increasingly consider giving up?

Victor asked, "What do Yvette's family members do for a living? I heard Yvette's family is very short of money?"

Albert furrowed his brow slightly, listening as Victor continued.

"Albert, do you really plan to continue living with Yvette? Marriage is a very serious matter." Victor stopped eating, looked up at Albert, and said, "I don't think Yvette is suitable for you."

Upon hearing this, Albert finally understood Victor's intention. Albert had made a decision; he smiled, his tone concealing his emotions.

Albert replied, "Even if Yvette and I are not suitable for each other, we are already married."

Albert looked at Victor with a thoughtful gaze, and asked, "Did Violet send you to find me?"

"Violet doesn't even know I'm here to see you," Victor replied and looked concerned.

Victor remarked, "Haven't you figured it out yet? Yvette is a gold digger. She's not sincere with you at all. Even though she's married to you, she talks about pursuing me with her friends. If Yvette wasn't flirting with Prince, would Prince start pursuing her?"

Victor grew more agitated as he spoke, saying, "Would you marry such a woman? Are you out of your mind?"

Although Albert hadn't figured out how he wanted to handle this relationship, he didn't want to hear others judge him and Yvette in such a way.

Albert kept his head down, his thoughts unreadable.

"It's none of your business," Albert said.

Realizing that Albert wasn't bothered by what Victor said, Victor began to get anxious and tapped the table with his hand.

Victor insinuated, "Do you believe it? Yvette would agree to go out with me at any time, even though you're married now. Yvette's goal is a wealthy captain, not you!"

Albert sat silently, his gaze fixed on the table. He tapped the table with his finger, pondered for a moment, and said to Victor, "Ask Yvette to come out."
