Chapter 257 Divorce Yvette and Marry Me
After hanging up Yvette's call, Albert stared at the computer screen, looking pretty grim. It was just a regular document, but he couldn't bring himself to read it.
Vincent knocked and walked in, noticing Albert's bad mood. He hesitated and said, "I'll come back later."
Albert asked, "What's up?"
"Mr. Valdemar, there's a lead on your mom's case." Vincent, usually calm, sounded a bit excited.
Albert's expression shifted slightly, waiting for him to continue.
"Your mom went back to Luken for a project with a guy named Micah Morris. But after she passed away, this guy vanished."
Albert frowned, his jaw tightened, and his expression turned deadly serious. "Vanished?"
"Yeah, mainly because there's something fishy about his identity." Vincent placed a file on Micah in front of Albert. "Micah was Lisa's college buddy, and they were really close back then."
Albert picked up the file and skimmed through it. "Was the project her idea?"
"Yeah." Vincent nodded but didn't say more.
Back then, Sarah was still James's wife and a big shot at the Valdemar Group. Lisa's buddy Micah had already started working with the Valdemar Group.
It seemed like James and Lisa had been betraying Sarah long before anyone found out.
Albert's mood darkened as he got what Vincent was hinting at.
He spotted a familiar name in Micah's family: Micah's sister, Miller Swift.
Seeing where Albert's eyes fell, Vincent pursed his lips. "It's Miller, you know her."
"Sure." Albert said coldly, "Violet's mom."
Violet walked out of the room, looking at the arguing Terry and Miller, her eyes full of exhaustion.
Ever since Terry's investment went sour, the Swift Group had been in turmoil, with the entire company teetering on the edge of collapse.
After the company hit trouble, Terry and Miller were constantly arguing and blaming each other, making Violet's life chaotic and overwhelming, leaving her no time to think about anything else.
Seeing Violet come out of the room, Miller seemed to find an outlet for her frustration. "Violet, why haven't you dressed up yet? Look at yourself—who would be interested in a girl like you?"
Violet's face immediately darkened. "Mom, I said I won't go on a blind date!"
Terry was also displeased. "Why not? Our family is in such big trouble. If you can find a way to help, why not? Are you still thinking about Albert? He's now the heir to the Valdemar Group. Do you think he sees you as someone who matches his status?"
"Dad!" Violet was extremely frustrated. "If you truly care about me, you shouldn't be treating your own daughter like a bargaining tool to secure funds for your business! I'm your daughter, not a commodity to be traded!"
Before Violet finished speaking, Miller's eyes had already turned red, and she raised her hand to slap her.
The slap was loud, and Violet was stunned. After a while, she sneered. "Aren't you afraid of ruining my face, making me even less marketable?"
Sitting in front of the bald, suit-wearing Aaron Fisher, Violet's eyes were vacant.
Since the family got into trouble, she was no longer the beloved daughter of the Swift family. No matter how much she hated it, she could only go on blind dates to try and save the company.
Aaron wasn't tall, but his lustful eyes were hard to miss. Violet remembered Miller saying he was the fourth son of the Fisher family.Despite lacking real authority, the Fisher family held significant influence. If she tied the knot with Aaron, they likely wouldn't turn a blind eye to the Swift Group's challenges.
Violet forced a smile. "I can eat by myself, no need to feed me."
Her phone rang, and Violet glanced at it casually, but then she was suddenly stunned.
Albert?
Albert was calling her?
Violet's heart skipped a beat, and ignoring the man in front of her, she answered the call.
Albert's voice, the one Violet had been longing to hear, came from the other end of the line.
"Do you have time? Come to the Valdemar Group, I need to talk to you."
The office door was knocked, and Vincent pushed it open. "Mr. Valdemar, Ms. Swift is here."
Albert didn't even look up. "Take her to the meeting room."
"Will do."
Violet sat in the meeting room chair, her hands clasped around the cup of water in front of her, trying to hide her emotions.
She was restless, stood up, and paced around. Just as she walked out the door, Albert arrived.
His eyes were slightly long, and he looked at everyone with indifference, but she knew how gentle and tolerant he could be when he loved someone.
Violet thought of her recent grievances and habitually wanted to confide.
"Albert." The moment the word left her lips, she encountered the icy chill in his gaze, a stark reminder that Albert's love for her had faded.
Awkwardness enveloped her, prompting her to purse her lips and deliberately adopt a cold tone as she asked, "Mr. Valdemar, what brings you to me?"
Albert strode towards her, his gaze piercing as he looked down at her. "Is Micah your uncle?"
Violet was a bit surprised that Albert mentioned Micah. "Why are you asking about him? He's been missing for a long time."
"Do you know where he is?"
Violet blinked, immediately realizing that Albert was looking for Micah, and asked with a deeper meaning, "You've ignored me for so long, and now you're lowering yourself to see me. Are you in some trouble that you must find my uncle?"
Albert's thin lips pressed tightly, but his deep eyes gave Violet a definite answer.
Violet smiled. "If I help you find him, how will you thank me?"
Albert frowned but still asked, "What do you want?"
Yvette, holding the marital property agreement, arrived at the Valdemar Group.
Although Albert didn't want to listen to her, this was the only way she could protect him.
Because of the last incident, everyone at the company recognized Yvette, and no one stopped her.
As she stepped out of the elevator, she saw two figures standing side by side at the end of the hallway.
Albert, in a dark suit, had a cold and noble aura. He turned his head, quietly watching the person beside him.
And his eyes landed on Violet, who had been out of sight for a long time.
She looked up at him, her long, thick eyelashes curled, her eyes filled with complex emotions.
The scene was unexpected and piercing.
Yvette's steps faltered, and her fists clenched unconsciously at her sides.
The distance was too far to hear what they were saying. She should leave, but her unwillingness made her move closer.
Against her better judgment, Yvette overheard their exchange.
Albert asked with a smirk, "How do you want me to thank you?"
Violet smiled. "I want you to divorce Yvette and marry me."
