Chapter 310 David Drugged Her!
Night had fallen over the Valdemar Family's villa, with the servants gone and only a faint nightlight glowing in the corner. The shelves were lined with high-end wines, their rich aroma filling the air. The room, half-lit, looked like something out of a lavish Renaissance painting.
Albert was slouched on the sofa, looking grim, constantly messing with his phone, locking and unlocking it over and over.
He was waiting for the investigation results to see if what Yvette said was true.
If he found out Yvette was lying, he'd take her and the kids back immediately, even if she ended up hating him.
Just as he was thinking this, Albert's phone buzzed.
Seeing Vincent's name on the screen, his finger trembled slightly as he answered.
"Mr. Valdemar, we got the records from Stellaria's hospital."
"Go on," Albert said, realizing his throat was dry and raspy.
Vincent sounded hesitant. "Mrs. Valdemar's medical records from Las Vegas show her first visit was in early June two years ago, and she was six weeks pregnant."
Albert's brow furrowed deeply. Yvette's timeline matched: Lester and Christina were conceived in April and born on schedule, confirming they were David's kids. It felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped on him.
Even though he had a hunch this might be the case, Yvette had the nerve to say it, so it was probably true. But he still clung to a tiny shred of unrealistic hope.
He thought his luck was not only that Yvette had come back alive but also that his kids had come back.
Albert's breath hitched, his eyes hidden in the dim light, masking his unbearable pain. He poured himself a drink, the clink of the bottle against the glass echoing clearly, downing one glass after another to keep the overwhelming sorrow at bay. The dim light outlined his figure, making him look particularly desolate.
Yvette felt a bit full after drinking water. Seeing David looking at her, she reluctantly said, "You always remind me to drink water, thanks."
David held the empty cup without moving. Yvette didn't notice his odd behavior, only remembering a document she had left downstairs before bed.
"I just remembered I left a document downstairs. I'll go get it."
David's face changed slightly, looking up at her. "I'll get it."
"No need, I'll be right back."
Yvette was only thinking about the document, which was for her colleagues at the branch office. She didn't want to lose it and cause trouble for everyone. She didn't notice the flash of panic in David's eyes.
David said, "I'll go with you."
The medicine Yvette took would kick in in fifteen minutes; she couldn't be allowed to go out.
"No need." Yvette walked straight to the door. "You take care of the kids for a bit, I'll be right back."
David glanced at the two kids on the bed, his uneasy eyes finally settling.
It was just going downstairs to get a document; she should be back in five minutes. He could move the kids to the suite in the meantime to avoid any trouble.
David nodded. "Okay."
Yvette remembered she had looked at the document after dinner while waiting for the kids, then put it on the high shelf of the dining cabinet when they interrupted her. Where did it go?
As Yvette searched, a strange heat started to rise within her. At first, she thought it was just anxiety over the missing document, but soon she realized the sensation was getting stronger.
Her body felt like it was on fire, with a weird tingling in her lower abdomen. Moments ago, she had felt fine. What was happening?
Yvette stopped, recognizing the familiar unbearable feeling, just like when she was drugged at the bar before.
This time, it came faster and stronger, even more irresistible.
But she had been at home all along and hadn't eaten anything unusual.
Thinking back on what she had consumed that night, only the water David handed her wasn't prepared by herself.
David?
Yvette was shocked.
How could it be David?
Yvette's pupils contracted, unable to believe it.
For so many years, Yvette had always considered him a friend, grateful for his help.
He had saved her, provided the best life for her and the kids, and she trusted him completely before and after his memory loss.
When they lived as a "couple," she was unwilling, and he never forced her.
But now he had drugged her.
Why would David do this?
Yvette looked fearfully towards the upstairs, not daring to return to the room with David.
She didn't want him to succeed, nor did she want to lose control in front of the kids.
Yvette took a deep breath, trying to suppress the rapidly rising urge in her body, but it was useless.
Clenching her fists to suppress her emotions, she forced herself to head towards the first-floor bathroom for a cold shower in the shower room.
Yvette struggled to move along the wall, her body growing hotter, every inch of her skin feeling like it was being scorched.
On the other side, hearing the noise, Albert got up and looked ahead, finally seeing Yvette struggling to move.
Her cheeks were flushed, and her forehead and delicate neck were covered in sweat, clearly uncomfortable.
"What's wrong with you?"
Hearing the voice, Yvette's scattered mind was pulled back a bit. She looked up with difficulty and saw who it was.
Albert stood before her in a partially unbuttoned shirt, revealing his firm muscles. With a slight bow of his head, his handsome face exuded a hint of rich wine aroma.
It was Albert.
Their eyes met, both a bit dazed.
Albert asked, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Yvette shook her head, not even having the strength to refute.
Albert's large hand covered Yvette's forehead, and at that moment, Yvette felt like the skin he touched was quenched by sweet rain, extremely soothing.
No!
That familiar feeling made Yvette bite her lip, forcing herself not to lose her mind.
She turned her head, avoiding Albert's hand.
Albert's tall figure was right in front of her, his stern face growing even more serious.
"Where are you feeling unwell?"
"No..." Yvette opened her mouth, but her soft voice startled even herself.
Albert's face changed. Ignoring Yvette's resistance, he grabbed her wrist.
Feeling the inexplicable heat emanating from Yvette, Albert's breath paused.
Her shy yet eager appearance was clearly unusual.
"Yvette, you've been drugged."
