Chapter 90 Necklace

The alcohol had Violet reminiscing about her high school days with Albert. She used to sit up in the front, always sneaking glances at him in the back row.

He always looked like he was napping.

Sunlight would hit his hair just right, making the tips glow golden.

Albert was a big deal at school. Even though they were classmates, they barely spoke.

But he was so good-looking, Violet couldn't help but stare.

Finally, sports day rolled around, and the field was buzzing with excited students.

Violet, in her school uniform and high ponytail, was the timekeeper for the boys' mile run.

The sun was blazing, and she squinted against the light. She overheard some students talking behind her.

"Albert is so hot."

"You've got way more girlfriends than him. Why's he still single?"

"Single? Nah, he's just too cool for anyone!"

Violet followed their gaze and saw Albert warming up at the starting line.

His hair was tousled by the summer breeze, and his eyes had a mature look.

The breeze pressed his clothes against his body, highlighting his muscles. After warming up, he adjusted his clothes, still looking mysterious and aloof.

Violet wondered, what kind of girl could make a guy like him fall in love?

The race started, and Violet had to focus on her job, but she couldn't stop watching Albert.

Sunlight bathed his tall frame as he sprinted towards the finish line.

At the finish line, Violet was a bit out of it. For a second, she thought Albert was running straight to her.

She knew she had fallen for him.

From then on, she couldn't stop watching him. One day, she saw him alone, about to wash his hands and face.

She thought it was her chance and started to follow, but a friend called her over for help.

When she got back, someone had beaten her to it.

Albert stood by the sink, with a girl in front of him.

The height difference was significant. Albert looked down at the girl, who seemed nervous, her hands clenched.

Is she going to confess her love?

Violet stopped in her tracks.

"Albert, don't you remember me? We've met before."

Such a cheesy line, Violet thought, almost laughing. She watched Albert closely.

She had seen many girls confess to Albert and get turned down. She didn't care who the girl was; she just wanted to see Albert reject her.

Sure enough, Albert remained cool and indifferent, not even looking at the girl.

"At least three or four girls say that to me every day. Go away."

Albert spat out those cold words and brushed past the girl, even bumping into her.

Seeing the girl stumble, Violet's lips curled into a slight smirk.

Before she could hide her expression, Albert was already in front of her. His face was cold, sweat dripping from his forehead. He wiped it away with the back of his hand.

For some reason, even though Violet was just a bystander, she felt like she was in the shoes of the girl who had just confessed, too scared to speak.

Violet instinctively looked away, pretending not to see Albert, and walked past him towards the sink.

The girl who had tried to talk to Albert was still there, splashing water on her face, her thin back trembling as if she were crying.

Violet approached her, "Are you okay?"

The girl's body stiffened, and she shook her head, water dripping from her hair. Violet instinctively stepped back.

"I'm fine," the girl said hoarsely, her voice tinged with tears.

She lowered her head and ran away from Violet, not wanting her to see her like this.

Violet pursed her lips. Getting rejected by Albert wasn't that big of a deal, was it?

After all, everyone was in the same boat.

Violet turned on the faucet, quickly washed her hands, and was about to leave.

As she stepped forward, she felt like she had kicked something. Looking down, she saw a necklace lying about two feet away.

The sunlight was strong, and the necklace on the ground reflected the light dazzlingly. Violet squinted and bent down to pick it up.

Back in the classroom, Violet sat in her seat and took out the necklace to examine it closely. It was well-crafted, likely made of platinum and diamonds.

She glanced at the clock hanging in the front of the classroom; there were only a few minutes left before class started, and it was too late to hand it over to the teacher.

Just as Violet was about to put it away, the classroom door suddenly opened. She turned to see Albert coming back.

He walked in quickly, his tall and upright figure, broad shoulders moving smoothly, and the hair on his forehead swept back, revealing a clean, full forehead.

His casual movements always drew everyone's attention.

Violet momentarily forgot what she was doing, staring at Albert in a daze.

As he passed Violet, he suddenly stopped and looked down at her.

His gaze was intense, making Violet feel a bit flustered.

"What's wrong?" Violet asked.

Albert didn't answer, just stared at her hand.

Could this necklace belong to Albert?

Afraid that Albert might think she had stolen it, Violet quickly held it up and asked, "Is this what you're looking for?"

Seeing the necklace, Albert's breathing suddenly became rapid, his firm chest rising and falling with each breath.

Before he could say anything, Albert's face contorted in pain. He raised his hand to press his temples, and his tall, broad body swayed.

Albert suddenly collapsed in front of her.
