Chapter 306 Why Are You Entangling Yourself with a Married Woman?

The light from the crystal chandelier bounced off the dark marble floor, casting a cold, dazzling glow.

Albert got up slowly, watching David approach. Just as David was about to pass, Albert stepped in his way.

Albert tilted his chin up a bit. "Heading out this late?"

"None of your business," David snapped. "Move."

Albert chuckled. "You always act so polite and gentle around her, it's like I don't even know you."

David narrowed his eyes, his voice dropping. "What are you getting at?"

"It's late, and you left her alone at the Valdemar place," Albert sneered. "Did you bring her here just to treat her like this?"

David's brow furrowed as he shot Albert a disdainful look. "You've got no business butting in. This is between me and my wife."

Albert raised an eyebrow. "Hmm."

David didn't bother arguing further. He shoved Albert aside and strode out of the Valdemar estate.

Albert watched David's hurried exit, the coldness in his eyes growing.

They were all part of the Valdemar family, even his own brothers, but they were far from being a real family.

The three of them were all digging into Micah's situation, each with their own motives and goals.

No one but him cared about the truth behind Sarah's death.

On the surface, they were one family, but everyone had their own agenda.

Albert sneered. He never had any illusions about these people, and he was right.

Just then, Vincent called.

Vincent said, "Mr. Valdemar, the news is out,  looking pretty authentic."

"Good." Albert glanced at his watch and said, "Keep them busy, make sure they don't come home tonight."

"Okay." Vincent hesitated before asking, "But why are you doing this? Got a new plan?"

A scene of Yvette and David kissing at the banquet flashed through Albert's mind. He frowned, his voice hardening.

"Nothing, I'm just bored." Albert's expression was indifferent. "Oh, and I don't want David back at the Valdemar place tonight."

"Understood, Mr. Valdemar."

Vincent frowned deeply, thinking Albert was getting more unpredictable.

The main members of the Valdemar family were gone; only the servants were around.

Albert felt a lot better after David left. Heading upstairs, he instinctively paused with his hand on the doorknob.

He glanced at David's closed, silent room next door. Were she and the kids asleep?

With David gone and no servants called to help, she was taking care of two kids alone. Was she flustered?

Albert withdrew his hand and slowly walked to the side.

He stood at the door, looking at the closed door, but didn't raise his hand to knock. He didn't even know why he was standing there.

Just as he was lost in thought, the door in front of him suddenly opened from the inside.

Everything inside the room suddenly came into view. The two stood face to face, both stunned by the other's presence.

Yvette frowned and tensed, glancing at the bed. Thankfully, the kids were still asleep. She turned back and glared at Albert.

"What are you doing here?" She had just wanted to see where David had gone and why he hadn't come back yet, planning to head downstairs to check.

Who would've thought that when she opened the door, she'd find Albert's face so close.

With David gone and her in pajamas, alongside Albert, a grown man, the situation was ripe for gossip. If caught, explaining would be tough. Gripping the doorknob tightly, she prevented Albert from entering.

Yvette lowered her voice angrily. "What do you want, standing at someone else's door in the middle of the night?"

Seeing her trying to act tough, Albert thought she looked different from before. Now she was like a little cat, bristling and showing her harmless claws whenever she saw him. Compared to her previous submissive self, this was much more interesting.

Albert seemed to be in a good mood, not bothered by her low growl, and looked down at her. "This is the Valdemar Family. I can stand wherever I want."

"Suit yourself." Yvette didn't want to argue and raised her hand to close the door.

Albert raised an eyebrow and, shamelessly, stuck a foot in the door to keep it from closing.

Seeing Albert's move, Yvette got anxious. She quickly pressed her body against the door to keep him from pushing it open. "What are you doing? David is inside, don't mess around!"

"You're lying to me, Yvette," Albert said casually. "I just saw him leave."

Yvette paused.

Albert noticed her small movements. "Besides, even if he were here, do you think he could scare me?"

Yvette knew Albert feared nothing. Today, in front of so many people, he had said all those outrageous things without hesitation. She had no doubt he would dare to barge into the room in front of David.

But the kids were inside, and she didn't want to do anything embarrassing in front of them.

"He's not here, but this is still our room. Please don't come in. It's basic courtesy."

"Oh." Albert said shamelessly, "You've got me all wrong. When have I ever been polite?"

"You..."

Yvette tried to push Albert, but his tall, strong frame resisted her efforts. Despite multiple attempts, she not only failed to move him, but also inadvertently touched his firm chest muscles.

Feeling Albert's amused gaze on her, Yvette got angry out of embarrassment.

She looked up and glared at Albert. "What do you want?"

Albert said, "You know what I want. I want you back."

Yvette felt extremely uncomfortable.

Back then, she had been so humble and patient, just wanting to stay by his side, and he had humiliated her.

Why now?

"Albert, I am David's wife. Why involve yourself with a married woman with kids? With your status, why complicate things with someone like me? Weren't you always the one who valued 'cleanliness'?"

Albert looked at Yvette, his eyes clear, without a trace of anger.

"I've changed," Albert said slowly. "The kind of woman I like has changed."

Yvette, realizing it was futile to reason with a rogue like Albert, issued one final cold command, "Get out."
